Chief Stipe
Not a good day for HRNZ. Isn't The Race a bit underfunded?
Chief Stipe
I'm hearing the HRNZ fallout is heading to Cambridge Raceway.
Chief Stipe
@Michael I realise you are reeling from the loss of 500 pokie machines from the industry but I thought you would have some comment about Cambridge Raceway?
Ludwig
Could someone please translate, and explain what this thread is about?
Chief Stipe
The rumour is that the new CEO of Albion Park Harness Racing Club in Brisbane is moving from Cambridge Raceway. A related question is was The Race by Grins a one off?
Gammalite
Interesting that Archie rumour as seems an unusual source for such speculation , and even More Unusual that the active Cambridge CEO would leave the club , after setting up the Grins Race and trying to keep Nz North Island harness racing secure (after the diabolical efforts at Auckland trotting Club in recent years. hell, he (Branch) won't even get to see the Harness museum resurected, after being ostracised from Auckland. Another kiwi leaves the 'sinking ship' for the sunny shores of Brissy?. nothing new there I spose?. The current Brisbane Albion park CEO Chris Bombolis is standing down from ill health, and the previous one Scott Steele is probably still in the court system on some 'sex charges thing from 2015-16. those sort of sordid things drag out for years and are never fully represented. Bit annoying we don't have a local candidate to the fill the position. Instead of dragging another pro-active man out of Nz if the rumour is true , and add to stressful situation already happening in North Nz harness (with numbers racing ,etc)
Robalan
If Mr. Branch does leave, as rumoured, that would be disastrous for what's left of Harness Racing in the North Island. In the meantime those that are in a position to do anything about it are squabbling over who holds the power at HRNZ. The quality of the HRNZ board leaves much to be desired and the addition of the latest Board Member does nothing to improve its quality 2

I have no involvement in the industry whatsoever and I don't even watch the races, so I don't know why you would think that I would be reeling. Perhaps you could elucidate? I am learned enough to know that the 500 pokie machines funded the money eating monster that the RIU has become, so any funding to be received by the codes in future will already be reduced by $15,000,000 Why would I have any comment at all about Cambridge Raceway? I have no knowledge of anything at all in relation to Cambridge Raceway. Again, perhaps you can elucidate? However I have read the we have a new HRNZ Chairman My predictions in relation to that are With Holden in charge I expect THAT, in the next 18 months 1. Catherine MacDonald will be gone 2. The HRNZ CEO will be gone 3. Auckland will get all the Friday nights back and Cambridge will be relegated to Sundays (and therefore NZMTC and ATC will share and cannibalise the Friday night T/O) .......within 9 months, not 18 4. There will be no race meetings at Ashburton, Hawera, Kapiti, Marlborough, Rangiora, Stratford, Nelson, Manawatu, Oamaru or Timaru 5. The West Coast March meetings will be gone 6. The Xmas meetings on the West Coast will be under severe threat (no predictions as to the lunatic's effect on the Southern scene as my geography knowledge isn't sharp enough) Then after 3 years just like the Warriors Holden will move on with the comment on his Linknd page "succesfully restructured the sport of harness racing by levering my knowledge gained over many years" The Warriors were very happy to see him go, time will tell but I bet "we" will be even happier to see him go

the galah
One time i did ring hrnz about how covid mandates would impact participation within the sport at the time. They put me through to Catherine Mcdonald who i didn't know and she wouldn't have known me,but i found her a very approachable and accommodating person. She also said she would email me after she had checked out how to minimise the impact of a certain issue on those not vaccinated. I got the email the next day and was impressed with her efficiency. Hrnz does seem to have and have had some people who work there who go out of their way to be very helpful. Its an organisation who in my interactions with their staff, always seems to be doing their best to help everyone at all levels of participation. Regardless what does my credibility have with anyone wanting to post their opinions on BOAY? You don't need any credibility to post here. What's more you can fire as much abuse the way of the forums convenor and you're still allowed to post. Try that on the other channel. Just this week I heard from someone wanting to come back here because they were sick and tired of being moderated for daring to criticise the opinions of the head dog. As for Noodlum - prove it!
