Potentially 29 Horse's ridden by Pinn to be Disqualified

Talk about a can of worms there. It is hardly the connections fault, or the jockey's, although I know nothing about the specifics of the case.

I imagine there will be some pretty well connected connections involved. Could be massive liabilities if they try to disqualify those horses.

There was a lot of publicity about his claim and how well he was going, so I imagine Racing Victoria was most at fault for not picking it up much earlier.

I don't recall any exact precedents.

I think the issue is one I highlighted earlier....namely,  that NZ wins are all classified as metropolitan, as we do not have  specific deliniations for country,  provincial and metropolitan areas.

Pretty simple really, but looking at the reactions elsewhere,  the fault has to be somewhere between NZTR and R.V.

Hardly the fault of owners or trainers and equally,  Pinn himself.

It woukld be easy for Owners and trainers to show cause.

Because the stewards allowed Pinn to ride witha 3kg claim at his first meeting in Australia then all owners and trainers are then led to believe the 3kg claim is correct and engage him on that basis. He has weighed out and weighed back in under correct weight in all those races according to the clerk of the scales.

Surely the blame lays squarely at the feet of the Melbourne stewards.

Said stewards should have to show cause as to why they keep their jobs

They keep their jobs because they're a law unto themselves.

NZTR would've initially cleared Pinn to ride in Australia, it's then the Australian stewards responsibility to ensure each horse carries its correct weight.

The stewards in question are foolish for even bringing their incompetence to everyone's attention.

How many times did we read articles explaining how surprised Wiremu and the Australian trainers were at having such a sizeable claim?

The claim amount was issued and queried.  Why should connections be penalised.

Absolutely and totally!!! . If correct weight is declared after a race is completed that is CORRECT WEIGHT. clear to pay.

The punters were all paid ok. What about the owners ? taking the prize-money off them now is just plain WRONG. what a slap in the face for them because of stewards error. they should not do it. just move on .........

Wiremu has !!!!    Wiremu has just Won the 3rd at Flemington today , without a claim. !!! 😄🏆

well done young champ.!!  Gave it to em' under a great ride with great balance,  knocking off the 2 favourites. And 8-1 odds as well 💰. May there be many more !!!

Doesn't make sense.

How can you be disqualified and STILL keep the Money. ??  that is just a joke.

But seems they're paying 'Extra' 's on around  29 occasions .

seems you are right. They are gunna PRETEND the 29 horses didn't turn up and just 'Donate' money to them still.

you're Disqualified but not forgotten lol....  😆 how silly can they get.

Racing Victoria has disqualified the 29 horses apprentice jockey Wiremu Pinn rode with an incorrect weight allocation after "imprecise" communication between stewards and NZ counterparts led to a costly administrative error.

An audit by stewards on June 13 established Pinn was only entitled to claim 2kg in metropolitan races upon arrival in Victoria last month and had been "incorrectly" allocated a claim of 3kg from May 27 to June 12.

The placings will be amended for the 29 races, and prizemoney awarded as though the disqualified horse had not started in the race.

Fortunately, the RV Board has elected not to order the repayment of any prizemoney paid to the owner(s), trainers, or jockey Pinn from the 29 horses disqualified by the stewards.
