    • I strongly disagree.  Waller has a responsibility to his owners, his staff and the welfare of his horses.  He has every right to express his opinions.  Every one benefits from better safer tracks including Waller's competitors so I also disagree that he is trying to swing things in his favour.  Not as if he is Lee Freedman getting the track watered before the Melbourne Cup for the Diva. I wish a few more NZ trainers would speak up and express their views about the tracks here in NZ if not individually at least collectively.  However they tend to do what you want and that is to keep their mouths shut.
    • Isn't that the objective - the best horses winning fair and square?
    • Knowing how much time David puts into the Te Akau farm/stud and his passion for buying and selling livestock the following must have lifted his spirits: On the farm, it has been an interesting month as winter loosens its grip. We endured very wet conditions, followed by eight frosts in ten days, and right now the grass cover is as short as we’ve seen in August for many years. But the days are lengthening, we’ve applied fertiliser, and with some rain the pastures will soon respond.   We also had some excellent results with the cattle. This past week we sold a unit of 40 steers which fetched $3,257.10 each (plus GST), a figure that Greenlea Premier Meats told me was the highest they had ever paid for a line of cattle. Congratulations to Luke Copeland and Mick Morrison for their outstanding stockmanship – you don’t achieve those results unless animals are cared for to the highest standard.   I must also acknowledge Greenlea Premier Meats Ltd and its CEO Tony Egan. Greenlea is one of the best-operated companies in New Zealand, with exceptional staff, strong values, community and social responsibility, with a generous approach to community giving.   As a family-owned and operated business, Greenlea invests in so many important initiatives - over the years, it has established the Greenlea Foundation Trust, become the principal sponsor of the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter and supported New Zealand throughout the Covid-19https://bitofayarn.com pandemic with over 10 tonnes of beef mince in collaboration with The Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul.   I am a proud to be a client of Greenlea, and my agent Alan Radford - who has been buying for me since 1979 and who bought these steers as yearlings – remains the finest fat stock buyer I have ever known. Alan’s skill, judgement and communication are world-class, and I greatly respect him.https://bitofayarn.com
    • Well the Golden Slipper usually run with a bit of rain about in the Autumn each year. Is a good thing . The heavy tracks used to mean upsets were possible . The best horses can't use their absolute speed to win and it slows them up a bit . Gives others a chance. People used to enjoy the odd Bog as could back a few 'Mudders' . Not any more by the sound of it 😂 If you had your way Chief , the Tracks would be manicured to the nth degree , and racing would only be Won by the best horse Every race everywhere. No doubt Mr Waller probably agrees with you.   Mr Waller has a superior outfit though , and is excellent trainer, so coped ok, so wins anyway with Via Sistina and Autumn Glow. and other stable reps went good as well in their races. Even not on their favoured track surfaces or distance. and they still ran good sectionals you blokes are saying , as are the best in the land. So I still say he should be appreciating it (Royal Randwick and winning Races) instead of groaning , and trying to 'doctor' things in his favour. and saying he felt for the safety of his horses and rubbish like that , to try and get his way. Just getting too Precious in his old age. Hope you not as well Chief lol 😎😂🍾   But really ? Royal Randwick just kept for certain times of year? , just so there's a few less clods potentially ?? com'on mate. it's one of the great tracks of the world. Professional people prepare it for a Lot of Money. It's like saying Don't use Ellerslie in case a horse leaves on hoofmark on it or something 😉
    • Uh?  Did you watch the replay?  When was he ever going to be able to get onto the back of Via Sistena?
