    • so how does that work? if say your in australia on holiday, can you put a bet on your nz tab account? If the proposed geo blocking the nz government is considering eventuates,,so they stop nz punters betting on australiain betting agencies, does that mean new zealanders in nz can't bet can't bet on say tabcorp. For example i have a tabcorp account mainly because their website is so much more user firiendly, just a lot better than the nz tab one. just easier to look at.It also has all the replays available of the nz harness races  about the same time each race is confirmed, long before they are on the hrnz website and you can view videos of each starters previous nz harness starts on the tabcorp website to help you make selections if you wish. having said that, tabcorp would the worst company to deal with, i've ever experienced in my lifetime. Easy enough to set up an account, but when i first made a little bit of money and tried to sort out how to withdraw it it took about 3 months, hundreds of phone calls, hundreds of emails to get them to help. I even complained to an australain federal agency and they were absolutely no help whatsover, as they said it was a tabcorp issue, not covered by them. They never once replied to emails, phone calls, eventually after months of trying ,i wrote them a letter  comnplaining and they contacted me. Tabcorp truly the pits as far as customer service went. I only persevered at the time  because i wanted my money out. I still have  have a tabcorp account as well as a nz tab one and bet solely on nz harness, not much on the tabcorp one due to the pool size, but just to spread some bets due to the nz pools being too small sometimes, thus efffecting prices. Are the nz government propsoing to stop that Would that mean if i was in ausssie the only betting i could do on nz harness would be through the tabcorp account? brodie,if you can't bet on nz racing as you suggest,do you find a way around that.
    • I have a close friend who has a share in the 1000 Guineas winner.  Soon after the filly won the race David contacted my friend and congratulated them.  After thanking him for his kind words they asked why wasn't he there oncourse at Riccarton. He said he was spending time with Blake Shinn (he was suspended at the time) showing him the Te Akau operation and that day they were at the Te Akau stud farm. My friend mentioned it to Reese Trumper (Racing Manager) who said the reason was they were engaging Shinn for some of the major races towards the end of the summer.  So they put that plan in place in November last year.  They got Shinn over a few times to ride trackwork and the large trial day at Matamata in the middle of January. So the Champions Day wins and the milestones of 100 Grp wins for the stable along with the NZB Kiwi win were achieved with meticulous long term planning.
    • What I don't like about the big clubs is these Flash Harry CEO's start with a great gig that has been set up by a team over time but, instead of embellishing what is already in place they turn it on it's head and shake the guts out of it. The country clubs seem to follow a tried and true system in methodical fashion that works for their group. Maybe the crowd was a good one at Ellerslie but, it is difficult getting excited about a crowd which has gaps in the stand and not a packed out infield.

Damian Lane gave the four-year-old mare a prefect ride from barrier nine, getting her into a nice spot behind the speed before allowing the daughter of Sacred Falls to work through her gears in the final 300m. After Running By ($4.80) took over from the tiring leader, the Mick Kent-trained mare starting to lay in slightly but when Lane switched the whip into his left hand, she straightened and let down with a very strong finish to win the 1600m contest. 2023: Sirileo Miss dominant from the front Sirileo Miss led from start to finish in the 2023 Group 3 Matron Stakes, bringing up the five-year-old mare’s third Group 3 victory. Ben Melham pushed Sirileo Miss out of barrier one to take the lead inside of Barb Raider, and he was able to control the pace and allow his mare to settle into a rhythm with little to no pressure from the second horse. As the field rounded the home turn, this daughter of Pride Of Dubai was still going strong, and as soon as Melham pushed the button, the mare kicked clear to put up two or three lengths, and the race was over by the 200m mark, as nothing was making ground from the back to cause the leader any concern. Sirileo Miss was a $12 outsider with online bookmakers, with the race favourites, including Barb Raider, Excelida, and So You See, no match for the winner. 2022: Flying Mascot a class above Race-favourite Flying Mascot was too good for them in the 2022 Group 3 Matron Stakes (1600m) at Flemington. The win came after the daughter of Tavistock was able to take out the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in his previous outing. Jockey Blaike McDougall was able to give his mount a nice run in behind the leaders before peeling out coming around the home turn ensuring the mare was able to keep her momentum going. • By Adam Hamilton  Wanted – a slot in the $1 million Race by Betcha at Cambridge on Friday, April 4. That’s the call from Tact McLeod’s driver and caretaker trainer Anthony Butt after the emerging Kiwi pacer ran a slashing third in Saturday night’s  stellar Miracle Mile behind Don Hugo. “That’s where we want to go,” Butt said. “It would be a perfect race for him with his gate speed around the Cambridge track. “I’m so proud of how well he’s stepped into the big league with those big runs in the Hunter Cup and now the Miracle Mile. “I’m not sure who or what the situation is with slots, but if someone is looking for a serious winning chance at Cambridge, this horse has the form on the board.” Tact McLeod blasted off the gate as expected and dashed to the lead early before Butt sensibly took a sit on Don Hugo. The Mark Jones-trained pacer stuck on well for a close third, beaten just 4.8m in a slick 1min48.4sec mile. “They ran home in 26.3sec which made it hard to make any real ground on the two in front, but he stuck at it really well,” Butt said. “We’ll get him back home now and just keep training him as though he’s going to race at Cambridge. “If he doesn’t get a slot, then he can go back to NZ and have a good spell. “There’s a flight (Melbourne to Auckland) eight days before the Cambridge race and he’ll be on that either way.” Meanwhile after Leap To Fame’s second in the Miracle Mile owner Kevin Seymour has confirmed the trip is a goer and Leap To Fame would, as previously indicated, go early to have a lead-up run in the Waikato Flying Mile at Cambridge on March 28. “We have had a bit to weigh-up, but he’s going to NZ,” Seymour said. “We’d originally planned to get him back home for a few days after the Miracle Mile, but he came through it well and Grant (Dixon) decided to keep him in Sydney at Robbie Morris’ place. “He’ll stay there and fly from Sydney to Auckland in plenty of time to settle in and get ready for that lead-up race at Cambridge.” Leap To Fame’s NZ trip is much-anticipated after two previous trips across the ditch – for last year’s Race by Grins and the NZ Cup – were both aborted. “It’s important to us he goes to NZ and people get to see him in the flesh over there,” Seymour said. “We were especially disappointed when we had to cancel that NZ Cup trip so close to him going across late last year. “Yes, it’s a big trip, but now he’s come through the Miracle Mile well, our focus turns to Cambridge.” Leap To Fame narrowly failed to successfully defend his Miracle Mile crown last Saturday night. The six-year-old did the work outside leader and winner Don Hugo and went down fighting by 1.2m in a slick 1min48.4sec mile. It’s his second defeat in as many big major races so far in 2025. Don Hugo and luckless Miracle Mile fourth placegetter Swayzee are heading to Perth later next month for the $1.25mil Group 1 Nullarbor at Gloucester Park. View the full article
