To be eligible for a share in the $1 million bonus pool, a horse must win one of the various Bonus Eligible New Zealand and/or Australian races, and also run a top three placing in The NZB Kiwi held on Champions Day (8 March 2025). The Bonus for horses that run a place in The NZB Kiwi (provided they have won a Bonus Eligible race), will be $600k for first, $250k for second, and $150k for third place. The first Bonus Eligible race will be the Group 1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) for two-year-olds, set to be run this season on 6 April 2024. In the coming months, NZTR will look to announce a number of Australian Bonus Eligible races which will also form a part of The NZB Kiwi $1 million bonus pool. Breaking News: ARC may not race at Ellerslie on 17 February
Chief Stipe replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
It's a $25m StrathAyr track @Gammalite it shouldn't have played like it did. So something is wrong. Anyway you're a harness trainer doesn't matter what the surface is 2 wheels and 4 hooves and you can run on anything. -

Light rain was their worst nightmare? Shouldn't have been. Now what do they do? Press on with the February 17 meeting or hope they get it right for the Group meeting early March? You seen to have the inside information - what's the call? -

Obviously you haven't followed the racing on Pukekohe. The last meeting the surface was terrible. Been hammered to help out Ellerslie. My beef is providing safe and fair surfaces for horses to race on. The rest follows. But you focus on the parties. -
I thought it was a dumb bet anyway. Why would you bet on a decent jockey to push a horse to run 6th when it had nothing left. The money bet in that race was Orchestral.

What was posted online at one stage was wrong. I was listening and watching the Channel 64 presentation and it clearly was stated that the bet was Orchestral and Talisker in a Top 4 and Top 6 with a "BGP boosted blessing". So Talisker WASN'T added it was always part of the bet. The communication was wrong on some channels.

Legarto still Flemington-bound | RACING.COM www.racing.com Super Kiwi mare Legarto remains on track for the $3 million Australian Cup at Flemington this autumn despite her defeat as hot favourite at Ellerslie over the weekend. Legarto ran second in the NZ$1m Aotearoa Classic (1600m) as the $1.30 favourite but co-trainer Ken Kelso said the conditions on the day had more to do with her defeat than a possible underwhelming performance. "The track was very shifty and they (stewards) had discussions through the day as to whether they should keep racing," Kelso said. "It was a biased track there on Saturday. She really had no hope from where she was and the way the track was racing. The track was a bit of a disappointment." An extract from the stewards' report read: "Following this race, comment was made by some riders that their mounts were shifting in the ground. "Films from Race 3 were also further reviewed where it was apparent that TEVERE had lost its footing rounding the final turn. Stewards convened a meeting with all riders and after viewing available film footage it was agreed that the meeting should continue." After Race 5, stewards reported: "Following further comment from riders regarding the footing, including W Kennedy, who reported that his mount lost its footing passing the 600 metres, a further meeting was convened with all riders. "After reviewing film footage and considering submissions from all riders present, the decision was made to run the last race as scheduled." During the final race, it was reported that Mark Zahra's mount Pendragon also slipped on the surface. Kelso said that despite the racing surface, Legarto emerged from the race unscathed. "She's come through it very good," he said. "She ate up that night so all good. "She'll go to 2000 metres next in the Herbie Dyke (February 9) then hopefully, all going well, she'll go to the Australian Cup."

What Nazis running Ukraine? Are you on the Putin Koolaid as well? What right did Russia have to invade the Ukraine? -
My understanding is anyone who hasn't been disqualified under the Harness Rules. There used to be "fit and proper" clauses etc. but I don't think they stood up legally.

I presume you mean Harness?

$1.2m to punt with. A downside of the huge publicity is it also shows the losing aspect of gambling. But good luck to them. But is handing over money to an intermediary to bet on your behalf going to provide a sustainable long term increase in revenue? Hopefully a few of the 850 who have got the stitch have learnt enough about racing to continue to bet and get to understand what racing is about.
