  1. Does it matter? You are only speculating Brodie and why does the fine details concern you? As I said or inferred in an earlier post some of the journo's social media reports were not good journalism. In these situations amateur oncourse experts would have been speculating and circulating rumour like wildfire. There was no need for journo's to publish some of those rumours particularly when they weren't even on course. What was wrong with just saying "Ricky is in a critical condition after suffering a medical event while driving in ....etc."?
  2. I must admit I was a supporter of commingling as bigger pools looked more attractive and tended to remove the extreme variation in prices. I've since learnt that successful punters play those variations better than I do. Ironically we now have non-commingled races coming at us from left right and centre or rather places in the world I've never heard of. Right now with less than two minutes to go we have race 5 from somewhere called Turf Paradise with $156 in the Win pool. Yahoo I must get on! Mind you they are offering Fixed Odds.....now how does that work? In a small volume market do they limit the size of the bet? I'm wondering what the profit margin is on those FOB books. I still don't think commingling is a bad idea however I'm increasingly leaning towards the opposite. But I don't think it has been helped by FOB, higher takeout rates and other ludicrous steps taken by NZ TAB management. The pari mutuel tote was the Golden Goose and everything they have done has killed it - well not quite.
  3. Racing and every stakeholder that is getting rogered by incompetent management. For the life of me I can't understand why the GM of Wagering hasn't been fired. Does he have pictures of certain politicians or industry leaders riding goats? When you start believing your own propaganda you are well and truly stuffed.
  4. Yep so with a declining quality race product they have further added to its decline by showing races from Busan to some obscure place in North America. I was watching the New Zealand races the other day and instead of promoting the racing they were switching back to harness racing in the snow in Canada! Go figure! The last thing I wanted to see was a race being held in the middle of winter with snow drifts!
  5. That's another statistical lie that keeps getting rolled out as propaganda. They include everything that has even a minute source of income from racing. For example - the local vet who probably gets most of their income from cats and dogs. Even the vets in Cambridge probably get most of their income from the breeding industry which isn't the racing industry.
  6. The punter does. But how can the NZ TAB argue that they aren't getting a fair return? What worries me is that only a very few (they seem to all post on BOAY) haven't bought into the Racefields legislation bullshit.
  7. We get a fair return now on what is a substandard product. Arguably the NZTAB gets a return that is more than fair given its takeout rates.

  14. You are now arguing something different.
  15. Finished reading it. Obviously you have only read selective bits that support your rubbish posts.
  16. This Manual is appalling the more I read it. It has all sorts of grey area decision making in it. A Manual should be black and white. According to the manual leaving a horse out is not a criteria for calling a false start. It should have been a late scratching!
  17. Thanks for that. Geez I've only read 5 pages and found all sorts of issues with it. This is a cracker - "If a number of stalls fail and the useable amount is less than 8 then the meeting shall be abandoned or postponed." So much for a 9 horse field!
  18. Can you give us an example of how you would have used this at Awapuni? Easy. Can you give us an example how you will use it before the next meeting? Hard.
