  1. Cross Current Cross Counter same thing I think only 2 eight year olds have won the cup No horse from gate 18 has won the cup Who Shot The Barman draws gate 18 he’s 10 years old no nine year old has won the cup let alone 10 talk about stats stacked against you I kept very quiet on my thoughts of him being in the field as I would have got shot down he passed the criteria to take his place in the field anyone give him a chance as an 11 year old next year
  2. One thing I have never done is read the qualifying criteria on the Cup since I’m going to invest rather heavily on the Cup next year it would be in my best interest to read and understand how a horse like Cross Current Rekindled can qualify after 7 starts Yet a horse like Patrick Erin can win the Metropolitan and miss qualifying I have no issues with horses carrying weight in Sprints As much as I respect your opinion I’m going to disagree with you regarding carrying weight for the Melbourne Cup Makybe Diva was an exceptional stayer I understand quality should be weighted accordingly When I say the race has evolved it has evolved favourable towards the NH horses With Rekindled and Cross Current winning these NH trainers are now going to go home and look at what horses are in their stable that are lightly raced can qualify for the race get in with 51 52 53 kgs that have the ability to become a Melbourne Cup contender over the next 12 months Going back a few years I had no issues with weight I would judge them on ability half the field couldn’t get the two miles Times have changed and I will be setting my guidelines on investing on the race a lot differently than I used to
  3. That wasn’t you who backed Rostropovich at the “Call of the Card”?
  4. The Melbourne Cup has evolved As a punter one needs to evolve with the times Trainers will now be looking at their stable which horse can we beat the handicapper with Hsve a look at the weights the first 6 home carried Last years Melbourne Cup winner Rekindled no weight on back Times have changed The biggest challenge these trainers face is how do we qualify these lightly raced horses and get in with no weight I know next year as a punter what end of the weight scale I will be looking at Anything over 55kgs will be scratched in my book as will horses over the age of 6 Magic Circle 7 years lol Best Solution 57.5kgs The race has evolved
  5. Nice selection with Best Solution I can’t take him with 57.5 to win the cup Latrobe is nicely in with 52kgs as is Rostropovich with 51kg and Muntahaa 55.5kg is right on the max weight line for me Yucatan was impressive At 33 one would think Withold will have to win the Geelong Cup nicely weighted in the Melbourne Cup
  6. Nice turn of foot to nail them right on the line Mooncoin The Autumn Sun that was tough to watch $8-50 available on Sportsbet to win the Golden Rose that’s a gift!!!! Maggie Miss will make her debut for the Waterhouse Bott stable Wednesday expecting Red figures to go up
  7. I wouldn’t be surprised if that figure was closer to 96 97%
  8. Spring is here The Autumn Sun will resume next Saturday then onto The Golden Rose then down to Melbourne for the Caulfield Guineas the owner is very keen to win a Derby so that is a possibility More Sunday’s impressive trialist who had won impressively at Geelong is in the first at Randwick Saturday has been backed from 2-30 into odds on Smart Melody 2 starts 2 impressive wins is running in the 5th race at Wyong today Maggie Miss unraced 3 yr old filly in the Waterhouse stable has had 2 trials attacked the line winning her first trial fastest trial of the morning for that distance just recently had her 2nd trial August 28th Rachael King took her to the front then gave her a little nudge and she gaped them by 12 she’s pretty special Sir Owen I mentioned this bloke was one to watch out for he is very very good Michael Walker came up from Melbourne to ride Sir Owen it was the last trial of the day and Wow worth watching only over 740 mtrs Avilius how impressive has this bloke been holds a nom for the Melbourne Cup Best Of Days lines up in the last at Randwick was the best of good things beaten backable odds J McDonald up should win Happy punting everyone
  9. The Everest has created a lot of media interest that Victoria are now thinking of staging their own version of the Everest in the Autumn but over 1600 mtrs Back to the Sydney version Redzel who trialled brilliant takes on Invincible Star who also smashed them in a trial on Saturday in the concord a must watch Amazingly Nature Strip hasn’t been snapped up yet But what is even more amazing The Everest is not a Group one race
  10. My favourite race Before Betfair and the corporates this was one race I could unload on knowing I could get a decent collect if successful I used to hear many people tell me this race was a lottery anything can win I disagreed, before NH you could do the form on the race 24 runners half the field wouldn’t get the 2 mile You would scratch the horse that drew gate 18 any horse that wasn’t 4, 5, or 6 years of age would be eliminated as a winning chance You would then be left with track conditions this would leave you with 4 to 5 chances The Caulfield Cup Geelong Cup became the form race that you put a lot of emphasis on along with the NZ stayers things used to be quite straight forward Then along came Dermie and Vintage Crop and things changed The Ebor form has been very solid formline of late, but as a student of Australian form I now find this race difficult I haven’t put the effort into the UK form and have paid the price for a number of years This year will be different as an exotic punter on the Cup I will have to put the time into several UK replays The Cup as Mardi so rightly states it’s not a race it’s an event Saturday they have the barrier draw shown live then interview most trainers connections it’s just brilliant Nick Williams will be able to make a case for all of team Williams runners just adds to the puzzle Look forward to your input on the UK brigade Mardi
  11. Looking at that video The G.O.A.T looks like a typical Parramatta supporter A Wooden Spooner!!! Not surprised he has labelled himself as the GOAT when you get a $50 poker Multi that nearly hits a mill you can call yourself what ever you want
  12. Ladbrokes I think
  13. These boys are outstanding would have loved to have had an idea like that and been part of a group when I was in my 20s Heard the rap song when RDYT posted it on cafe no wonder he posted it, there is a line in the rap that includes him Ted giving us the smokies Some horse that Da Kause Best I’ve ever seen better than Frankel I think they may well be sponsored by one of the corporates How good is it to be young and bulletproof That rap song is just brilliant
  14. Still trying to get into The Everest 2 slots left As a slot holder would you risk your 700k slot on Willie Mullins Willie Mason Willie Wonka..,.........or Will he Jump fark NO!!!!!! Game over!!!!!!! Anywho looking at the trial nice trial from The Autumn Sun 2nd trial back looks set for the riches on offer Now I seen a trialist earlier in the week from the Hayes stable who had won its only start impressively at Geelong I think it was and has been shifted up to their Sydney stable called “More Sundays” out of the black type dam there’s that word again More Joyous talk about an impressive trial Anywho forget Chautauqua just give one of the remaining slots to Nature Strip
  15. I highly doubt you’re too lazy Anywho I agree Track/Distance/Conditions Chief De Beers trained Eagle Farm never won there Then how many runs into their prep Then barrier speed maps Let me say speed maps are becoming more and more flawed as the top trainers now employ analysts so they can advise their jockey how to ride so if you end up with 3 or 4 trainers saying there is no speed in the race take them to the front all of a sudden there is speed in the race One thing you can’t take into consideration when doing your ratings is track bias If you think there maybe a track bias early there maybe value later on
  16. I wasn’t talking about individual events nor was I disagreeing with you Passabache raced 3 wide facing the breeze and went onto win Watching the first race how it unfolds can be a huge advantage whether you think the tracks playing true
  17. I think it depends on the pattern of racing Often there is an inside bias When Winx won one of her Cox Plate there was a clear inside bias the first 3 followed the rail home
  18. Ghost

    Winx

Nor Frankel you’ve got to hop on a plane and travel Lol
  19. Ghost

    Winx

Yip Qld Oaks 2200 not 2400
  20. Ghost

    Winx

Waller could have probably won the Everest had he set her for it Winx would be weighted out of the Melbourne Cup she would have won that as well had she been set for it earlier in her career Agree with the Chief her action isn’t as fluent right handed The Melbourne way of going suits her better she beats Kingston Town IMHO
  21. Ghost

    Winx

    Winx has won at 2400
  22. When I first seen this thread I thought it was a gee up....surely this is a gee up But then I read the thread title over and over and over again then I realised you were talking about at Stud ......had me going there for a minute Now what’s not a Gee up NS is about to be offered one of the two remaining slots in the next day or two.......traders delight
  23. 3 interesting runners from the stable Sir Edwin Landseer Killimanjaro Crocodile Rock all run Saturday Considering Williams has won 50% of the past 6 Melbourne cups you sit back and take notice I would be expecting one of the latter two to be winning Saturday to lift their ratings You would think Latrobe isn’t coming
  24. Rod Hill Benny Hill WTF man do you need everything spelt out to ewe!!! There’s a lot of classy respectable people over there including CS unlike yourself Thomass
  25. You don’t take advice full stop not even from someone paying premium You analyse to pick winners Benny analyses to make profit Name calling only emphasise’s how well and truly defeated you are
