Kerry Parker trained his first group 1 winner when Dark Dream won the QLD Derby
Dark Dream won his maiden at Moruya in November come June he’s a Group 1 Qld Derby winner
You could not wipe the smile of Kerry’s face when DD won the derby he had a smile from ear to ear and when asked what were the immediate plans he replied DD would go for a brief spell and be aimed at the 5 million Caulfield Cup
However the owner although very keen on DD running in the CC wasn’t so keen on Parker training the horse for its next prep hence the horse has been removed from the Parker barn while they make a decision on who will be DDs next trainer
It had been revealed interest from Hong Kong but that was all
The highs and lows of racing
6 of the 12 slots have been confirmed with English taking the latest slot
There was a significant move for Nature Strip last night with it being backed in from 26s into 18 I’m expecting NS to be one of those last 6 I know if I was a slot holder I’d be making a serious enquiry
Havent had a chance to watch the replay of NS last start but thought I heard them say it ran .11 outside the track record with 60.5kgs on its back originally with Smerdon then Hickmont then Sadler now in the right barn to reach its full potential
Ive gambled on it being one of the last 6 and have taken numerous doubles racing and sport with it
Also numerous doubles with The Autumn Sun to win the Guineas at 15s
Let’s not exaggerate the facts Jasper
There was a brief transmission outage when Master Coppins was interviewing Lance and the missing dialogue went something like this I expect Smart Patch to win by 5.......transmission then resumed and LA then expressed that they expected the gelding to improve further with blinkers on
And NO CJW won’t be applying the blinkers to The Autumn Sun in the spring they’re reserved for the Autumn when the sun is out
So The Autumn Sun before noms is favourite for the VRC Derby 17-1
Nature Strip when he burst onto the scene the initial thoughts group one material Everest???? Now trained by Darren Weir
Does anyone know if Smart Patch went to Hong Kong?
Nice run by Sir Owen better suited on a bigger track
The Autumn Sun wins his group 1 at just his third start he will have a brief spell now before being aimed at the Caulfield Guineas
I will be watching futures betting on Sir Owen and The Autumn Sun for the VRC Derby both look likely types can’t wait for the spring some superstars of the turf will be back including Winx going for a 4th Cox Plate
I give Trentham an 8 out of 10 go figure
I think the fact you could catch the train study the Best Bets or back in the day the Turf Digest or Friday Flash and land right on the doorstep was an added bonus
All you need is the council to build a monorail between the two Barry and you’d have it made turn Te Rapa into a Sha Tin replace all the factories in the background with high rises Hang on hang on we wouldn’t be able to race at night our meetings would be cancelled not flying running rails not too much sand not too much water on our world frickin FOG how do we frickin win is it asking too much???
It should have felt right at home
I see 10.7mill has been spent on refurbishments at Water World pity some of that money wasn’t spent upgrading Te Rapa
Te Rapa has zero atmosphere quiet often has a leaders bias at least the running rail has stayed intact
Warwick Farm Wednesday Race 1
Sir Owen
Drawn a gate trained by the Snowden’s
Michael Walker up as I think this is owned by Owen Glenn
Has had two really good trials the latest really savaged the line beating home last start winner The Autumn Sun
Will be winning
I don’t see too many views in this part of the forum
I personally think the work you do in here is outstanding I love reading all the updates Race chat have nothing like this
Keep up the good work much appreciated brilliant!!
When I think of Doomben Chief De Beers springs to mind he won 20 races all at Doomben including two Doomben 10,000s ironically he was trained at Eagle Farm go figure I recall him carrying the grandstand one day 64 65kgs from memory horses for courses the Chief definitely had an affinity with Doomben
Speaking of Eagle Farm scheduled to resume racing there December
Amateur races probably best kept for non tote meets Pirongia picnic etc
One positive about amateur races on Winter tracks when racing 3, 4, a dozen wide they can always say they were looking for better footing
Braless now there’s a name
J F Grylls and Even Dollars
Gatcombe’s Pride
Golden Fox
March Legend
Teddy Doon
The most unforgettable of them all is
ALWICK
Seen a couple of really nice winners at Randwick Anzac day
The first was The Autumn Sun raced 3 wide with cover looked to be struggling at the turn before showing a great turn of foot at the 200 putting them away comfortably
The other Cradle Mountain won a trial recently as it liked did a similar job Wednesday only beaten once
A couple of progressive types will be interesting to watch their progress moving forward
Once Winx retires I fully expect Bowman to take up a contract in HK
Will be interesting to see if Nash when he has served his 15 months, if he resumes his career in HK or chooses to resume in Sydney
