  1. Tribeca opened at FF 1.70 Be interesting to hear if there are any big bets on him pre-race. One would have to be brave.
  2. While I am supportive of the reduction in the use of the whip and conscious of the image of harness racing, I think these 2 latest examples exemplify why it is a frustrating rule for some. After watching both races at Timaru (Queen of Glory and A Better Dancer), I severely doubt any spectator would even notice the actions of the drivers. The stipes must spend an enormous amount of time ploughing through the race replay to work out the exact number of strikes. One or two too many hits equates to $$ fines or suspensions. It must be frustrating for those nailed. No wonder Colleen Negus couldn't be bothered turning up. It will be one of those rules where it will displease someone regardless. Mrs Negus had activated her gear and then proceeded to use her whip on 12 occasions within the final 400m and was in breach of the rule specifically clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations. She also endorsed the Information indicating that she did not wish to attend the hearing. Mr Hope had activated his gear and then proceeded to use his whip on 11 occasions within the final 400m and was in breach of the rule specifically clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations.
  3. Went to back her on your evidence but she is scratched. Next time.
  4. How long do the benefits of the treatment last for?
  5. It is not often you see a horse go from last to first in the home straight at Addington to win so I will be very interested to see how she goes tomorrow night against some better horses. Punters and the TAB haven't been interested so far and she is at 17FF. I won't be backing her but I'm keen to see how she good she actually is. The Harrison's must be excited and turning down offers I imagine. Lucky them.
  6. Wrong. Can't be them. First would be the TAB because here is where all the winners are to be found ?
  7. Have I missed something?
  8. Was told by an owner that they had not been paid yet only 3 days ago. Their horse was only in first 3 though and not a winner but would presume it would apply to all stakesgetters. Maybe someone can confirm 100%?
  9. It will be very interesting to see if he turns Tribeca around at Forbury on Friday and the odds offered.
  10. Correct.
  11. Think he is heading to Forbury by the looks of this! Probably returning for a tilt at the Tuapeak Cup soon lol
  12. People happy with it? Must be for safety?
  13. Nothing, I have been told all harness racing people are related.
  14. Strange the tight TAB didn't have Think About Me at unders. Mark Purdon aboard and an All-Stars horse in a mediocre field at FF 3.30. Most unusual. Paid 1 60 tote too. All the stable fans would have made a packet as they would have been ripping into the opening quote. Friday – Addington The punters roll continued on at Addington. J B Mauney was smashed in from $2.40 to $1.75. $10,000 @ $1.80 the largest in the mountain of bets on him. Think About Me was the other huge shortener. Opened @ $3.30, the money came as soon as markets opened @ 6pm on Thursday. $3,500 @ $2.60 placed before 7pm on Thursday was the best bet on him & he was a terrible result closing @ $1.60. A couple of big bets that didn't land were $6,000 Bettor Beontoit @ $1.55 and $5,000 The Tin Soldier @ $2.70.
  15. And someone else was on the money. Would love to know if it opened at $ 1.65 or the $10 000 brought it into that price. So much for restrictions? From The Bookie's Desk 3 July 03 July 2018 Thursday – Forbury Park Punters hit the ground running at Forbury on Thursday night. $10,000 bets on Command Lustre @ $1.65, Kate's Carrera @ $3 and Marshal Star @ $1.50 all landed. There was a stack of money early on for Ideal Draw against Kate's Carrera and these two duly provided the quinella.
  16. Maybe it should be 1975m and split the two ?
  17. Be interesting to see if the reverse works with horses drawn 1 or on the inside not being able to keep up at the start. I presume 1950m was chosen for good reasons in the first place.?
  18. From Mr G. The question remains, why did they ask? What is the difference of 30 metres? (I'm just being picky, DR)
  19. Its ok, Brodie, don't go and cry me a Rainy River, mate.?
  20. Good job, DR. Any particular reasons why they recommended it?
  21. ....no longer together. The partnership that was struggling and lightly mentioned in another thread has dissolved. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the future. Apart from the obvious partnerships of Purdon and Rasmussen and Dunns etc, who have been the best small partnerships over the years? NZ HARNESS NEWS (Abridged) Jonny Cox will be going it alone from Tim Butt’s Premier Stables in the new season after the decision to dissolve their six-month training partnership. Cox took over the team in December while Butt was establishing himself at Menangle in New South Wales and that process has well and truly been achieved. “I wouldn’t say the last six months has been a trial period – more a transitional phase while Tim got himself properly set up,” said Cox. “He’s done that now and there’s no need for him to be spending so much time back here in Canterbury.” Before taking over at Premier Stables, Cox spent a little over a year working the mornings at the All Stars Stable while doing his own team in the afternoon. Cox will continue to be assisted at the West Melton stable by Tim’s daughter, his partner Kim, along with long time stable employee Mike Palermo and stablehand Jordan Simpson, who has just gained his ticket to drive at trials. 22. If only Shardan had hung on for 3rd....?.........?
  23. And that is the answer for you, Brodie.
