Off you go back to Racecafe. You can go and post your topics there. Cheers.

Some of our exports have done very well by the looks of it this year. Blow A Cloud was debating mightily awhile back about its transformation from an also-ran to a good horse. Seems like he is doing ok in America. I always liked Torrid Bromac too. Quick as a Trick must be loving the mobiles and not those 3200 stands on Cup day with Mick Guerin telling him he shouldn't be in the race lol. Some have done very well this year by the looks of the earnings ow

Since you are a good judge, maybe next time you go into the TAB you can crossdress so you can get that big bet on? You can pull out that big wad of bills out from your bra and hand it over... No more restrictions for 'Miss Brodie' ?

I agree....that a good barrier draw always helps. There are so many factors that come into getting a good horse or good horses to a high level that jumping to a conclusion like that is a bit far. Were they ever caught 'helping'? They still have some handy types, just not topliners. The same could be said for many trainers who used to have a good horse but now they don't. Its cyclical for many. The partnership is just starting out so I would give it a chance to get going. Tim Butt is not at the lofty heights he once was but still has winners and getting stakes money which is more than most.

No wonder you are called...Chief Stipe. ?

Steven John was from the Coast wasn't he? Not a top liner but pretty good. Double R, I didn't even count the west coast trainers so a few more could be factored into the 14.

Good question. Had a look through the fields of the Pelorus Classic which ceased in 2015 and couldn't identify any top horses from the region competing in that. That race always drew a small field so might have been at the wrong time of the year. Might take someone with a good and distant memory to remember a top horse from the region.

Bryers, Hill, Weaver, Fox, Rochford, Gill, Best, Morgan, G Anderson, Broadhurst, Pash, Stuart, Heaton, and Johnson. Just looking at the fields for Sunday and made a list of the 14 (yes, 14) trainers from the upper south island. It makes one realize the importance of this region to harness racing. It's great to see harness back in Blenheim and I hope this region gets looked after in the future with continued 2-day meetings (unlike the lower north island) so they can continue to be a viable proposition to trainers and owners. I think these smaller types of trainers (and meetings) are vital to the sustainability of harness and are just as important as the big guns on Cup day.

Do you like the Brian Norman and DD factor? Not put off by Gray letting it go? At his best, he would be tough to beat. -
Seemingly not. That is pretty bad.

Good memories of Raphoe winning at Forbury and making 'trotech' when they called us geniuses (Harewood too, he must receive due credit from RC) so we need to find a Raphoe... Gosh, I feel like going rough tomorrow. Not sure why but I do. I would really like to back Shardan Suzie (FF7.50 and FF2.70) tomorrow night but I am not sure of the draw, even though she has shown gate speed before. She has good form at Addington in stronger races but that draw. If you could guarantee me a good run I would be in big time. Instead, I will plump for Old Oake Emma in the same race, drawn 2 at 4.50FF. She has a much better draw, Blair Orange on, should get a quiet run. The last run at Blenheim was ok after being wide and sitting parked but she stuck at it ok. The previous run to that she was never in it from her draw but ran 2.58.9 for the 2400m. If she gets a soft run tomorrow night a time like that will stack up. For an absolute bolter for the place, I will go Bhakti at 7.50FF. Trotech makes incredibly sorry reading but I think it will get the rails and hang on for 3rd....I shouldn't really be sharing this lol ? Share some tips, fellas, they can't be as rough as mine!

Bringing people's names into the thread, subtly and not so subtly. That's ok. I am not in the know of the ins and outs of this topic so will stay out of it.

I think this thread needs to be careful.

Not sure why BOAY is interested in what is happening on RC.

But there a 100 ways to manipulate the way a horse runs, aren't there? It is legal what they are doing so it is hard to criticise. Can someone outline the HRNZ owners thoughts? Portfolio might have it right....the rich getting richer

I really do bet like I am 6 back on the inner with 200 to go but I just don't think I could find 8 horses in a weekend.
-
What a great return from a $50 dollar bet. Do any of you out there bet like this? It would never cross my mind, but should it?
-
I always wonder how a horse can be allowed to hold the win after doing this when careless driving extinguishes the chances of the runner in the trail.

The Purdon performance is incredible. As an aside, does anyone know if the Purdon sells many?
-
Never feels like it does it.

No one could accuse the Jones' stable of team driving team today with the events that unfolded between Moytura and Some Excusesomewhere! I wonder what Mr Jones was thinking halfway through the race? Very tough performance by Moytura. You don't see that every day.
