  1. So what is being said here? There were no stablehands? Were horses not clear? Can't believe it, sorry. Implausible. Sounds like some fantastic stirring to me.
  2. They were given all clear though. Not sure of process for testing however.
  3. Doesn't make any logical sense?
  4. Elaborate. That a big claim
  5. Too hard for me. Mine can't even run a place lol Very true. Just not enough to get joe public involved.
  6. If the TAB had a consistent Pick 6 pool (jackpot or they just front up with money) every 4 or 5 or 6 weeks of hundreds of thousands of dollars would you bet into it?
  7. Very odd. Makes you wonder what the hell is going on.
  8. And a bit of a new name trainer called Petra Luzumova in race 1. Good to see new names bobbing up.
  9. Good to see Nora Bishop back on the track. She adds a bit of colour (literally) I think it's great.
  10. Billy K be happy as he loves wearing pink!
  11. Near the end of the season so was looking over some of the tables and it seems Mitchell Kerr is a fella on the rise. 73 starts for 20 wins and 11 seconds. That is impressive.
  12. The first thing that comes to mind is the drug problem. An honest horseman has no chance at succeeding if the powers that be allow so many cheats to rule this sport. I don't think this applies to New Zealand. This next topic really bothers me, and I assume it bothers many others as well. All of the drivers today are friends, Remember the last time you were on that corner street in Rome and you meet this Kiwi fella who was friends with your brother....we live in a fish bowl so I think the drivers are going to know each other pretty well. Can't change it. Trainers, all of the small farms or barns have no chance to compete anymore. The super trainers have all the money, they get the better horses, and get the best drivers as well. Harness racing really needs to find a solution for this. Well, that is the Purdon barn. A solution would be good but the author didn't give one. Why hasn’t harness racing become more popular like T-bred racing? To me it is very simple, people want a chance to win big amounts of money. The author is more onto it here, why the TAB doesn't allow massive pools to build up is frustrating. The same old 25 000 or 50 000 Pick 6s are chump change to the general public. Racing needs a monthly jackpot rising well into the hundreds of thousands, if not more. Unfortunately, not too many answers given.
  13. Big and interesting (for some) field in the claimer at Forbury on Friday night. Brian Norman is trying to get rid of a few cheaply and some are over the odds. Not sure I would be paying 10 000 for a horse out of a claimer either. From my highly unprofessional eye (not even amateur status) I would buy Real Dash as I think he could do with a change of scenery and is capable of doing a little more....$5000 is not too bad and he has the lowest rating of them all. Not everyone's cup of tea but thoughts on who you would buy? Good on Forbury with attempting to the keep claiming races going too.
  14. Could well be, but the stipes were all over him today for his driving.
  15. That is the interesting part. Will they?
  16. But that is it, isn't it? Only a certain few would know and they are highly unlikely to say anything. That would achieve nothing as the positions of all involved are somewhat precarious and could incriminate themselves or others. One only has to think back to the accusatory thread of legal action on RC about this to see where that gets you.
  17. . Who are 'some'?
  18. Has anyone come across information about the betting patterns on the races involved at Nelson?
  19. But that is racing, isn't it? Whatever code and anything to do with gambling is dodgy and crooked. The RIU and JCA have the same task as WADA which happens to be an impossible one.
  20. Compared to? The gallops and greyhounds? What else is dodgy in harness?
  21. No convincing needed here. It is not about whether they did it or not. One just can't say they pleaded guilty to do it. In response to the position taken by the RIU the stance taken by the Appellants before the Committee was as follows: i They would accept the presenting charges. ii They would deny any responsibility for the presence of the prohibited substance in the four horses.
  22. They pleaded guilty to the presenting charge. Never doing it. Big difference.
  23. Is this a case that is actually beyond the RIU and should be a full police matter? McKechnie, who reduced the fine to $7800, said it was not the tribunal's job to solve the nobbling mystery "but if the man who made the telephone call was in some way responsible it seems a foolish thing to do to advise people in advance". Bizarre.
