  1. Surely the fact that a lot of jumping races are in the early part of the programme has an impact on wagering $ for those events?
  2. Sad news has done a decent job at stud.
  3. Well I think the opposite , I struggle to wager on events when a stable has 3 or more runners in it, particularly when that stable has the favourite and smaller fields. It's probably why I am such a poor punter and dependent on CS Ruakaka tips !
  4. I agree that jumps racing has done itself no favours, but there are many reciprocal reasons to keep it going in some format as has been pointed out in the article. Also if we are talking purely from a punting profit perspective that eliminates a lot of the racing in the local industry. I think one of the problems with the wagering side is its very much dominated by a couple of stables and thus makes it difficult to punt on.
  5. I think he is more referencing the fact that they will take any of the arguments into account than someone reading all the submissions, many will have experienced their lack of listening skills in the past. This time could be different with a few heavy hitters getting involved and they won't be keen to square up with them , so there is every chance there will be a back down on the cards.
  6. Some interesting points made for mine. particualrly the submission from Mary Burgess.
  7. I fully support betting with the TAB also , with a better website. The last one was even better , old people like me its a mess to use. How am I supposed to get my CS Ruakaka Tips on that website?
  8. But could we sustain having to watch more racing from Ruakaka , that is the eternal question.
  9. Fillies race has to be race of the day, plenty of interest there.
  10. Even the noms at CS home of Racing - Ruakaka have come together quite nicely.
  11. Yes it does, but the main race also looks particularly interesting if they start noms.
  12. That's probably not fair , there are plenty racing types around lazy enough to woo the piss up crowd instead of investing in the product.
  13. It happened when the industry starting get full on non racing personnel types, they took the easy road out and when the booze up way.
  14. How is the capture going? these piss up's and shenanigans have been going on for a few years now and all they seem to be doing is going back for another piss up and shenanigans.
  15. If you move then you can't hear the DJ, even I know that!
  16. That of course depends on the course and where you sit.
  17. and a club with that level of enthusiasm and racing IQ is allowed to hold the NZ triple crown.
  18. Great point, its what I find most fascinating about the young hip PR & marketers in the racing game, they are going to attract new racegoers to the races for everything but the races themselves!
  19. So basically they could go to a decent pub TAB for same experience.
  20. I have been thinking the same thing, can't understand how he gets a pass mark when the likes of Sweeney & Rodley are continuously dragged through the mud and they at least have some experience and knowledge.
  21. Make breeders & Syndicators rich that is it right there!
  22. Clown show in no position to close all of those. M Report has done next to nothing positive for the NZracing scene.
  23. If they really had motivation to save jumps racing they would have setup one of the unused venues as a focal point for the sport, somewhere that could have given the sport an identity and a home as such. I think the sport has lost all its identity with the changes that have happened over the past few years and it looks like it is put wherever they can fit it. Most of those venues being good winter spots it would have made sense. However you won't get any innovation, thinking outside the box or empathy from any of the lot running the sport so that was never going to happen.
  24. It's working , but you have to give it time.
  25. I'll certainly be watching Hastings, but if you can send me some tips I'll tune in.
