  1. Better field than the 2yo G3 at Ellerslie that's for sure.

    G3 2yo

Remains to be seen if the 2nd horse is a good horse, the winner certainly is decent for NZ but it would want to be at that price. From a Black Type perspective that race was higher than the KM (yes I know it's a sales race closed off etc) but for goodness sake anyone who thinks that race was deserving of G3 status needs a lobotomy, it's also much worse than when Taranaki had it.
  3. Probably a job someone could do from home, I see they need yo be in Cambridge.
  4. How can anyone claim this to be a G3 race , compare to the 2yo races at Rosehill & Sandown it's an absolute joke this can go down on a horses CV as a G3. https://www.breednet.com.au/news/36586/g3-victory-for-$1.3million-snitzel-colt-
  5. They are not really any different though are they. Rinse and Repeat "These are the best yearlings I've ever seen this year!" "This lovely colt I could see running in the KM then running in the Guineas and off to our Aus Stable to target Aus riches." "This Lovely Filly is an Oaks filly that i could see at the KM , then off to the Oaks etc" "The last horse sold is usually the best." "This horse did something like one of our superstars did in the past etc etc" It obviously works!
  6. Yes good point , certainly don't envy the punting they do everyone expects you to win and everyone is an expert after the race. IMO also kiwis aren't great losers on the punt.
  7. Book 2 prices do look a bit painful, certainly auctioneers are having to work very hard to get bids on some.
  8. Yes I thought they would have done well in Aus especially Vic they have had some good results Imperatriz, Ballatrix Star, Quintessa & San Doubte all doing well. They have bought some nice horses should enable them to be more than competitive over there, looking forward to watching it unfold , Aus is the right place for the quality of animal they are investing in.
  9. KM being their marquee day , I'd have thought there was a bit more focus on being successful or at least protecting their investment. This years KM bets they didn't seem themselves, a bit of a dart at a dartboard (like me) was their punting strategy.
  10. Also Punting to make $$$ is a very difficult gig to take on and I empathise with with regards to that.
  11. I think they'll evaporate into a group that just goes to the races, if they don't have the $$ to spend the industry will shun them like they do most people/groups who start off with a hiss and a roar and evaporate into thin air. Agree the concept has been good getting punters to the track, but skeptical about their involvement in ownership and punting a lot of the people they have had involved in syndicates etc don't have the understanding or staying power for racehorse ownership or the punt , thats problematic in itself and its starting to show now.
  12. the rain doesn't affect us now,” says Wilcox. Famous last words , take NZ weather on at your peril!
  13. I can't see it being an issue (distance or travel) , not to mention the young boy Bergerson seems to be doing a very good job also and is beginning to come into his own.
  14. They have literally copied off a concept from Australia (Everest) , like most things our industry does. They are now tabling themselves as genius for doing that ... ???
  15. Here we go @Chief Stipe , if you haven't got your share(s) yet the team have identified some dead certs for the race in this video. You could have 2 or 3 runners in the race , taken all the hardwork out of it. Top it off this is the best bunch of yearling Dave Ellis has seen at the sales , if that doesn't get your CC out of your pocket nothing will!
  16. Cracks are starting to appear because they are losing. You can't help but question some of those bets last week , they were betting as bad as me and thats absolutely awful! I think maybe they need some serious punters to assist them with their bets which may help them to at least become sustainable, are they too proud to seek someone out?
  17. Certainly a lot to live up for this top priced horse , I can't find a successful sale topper apart from Don Eduardo that won at G1.
  18. Moaning doesn't work @Chief Stipe , they do not care. Incompetence reigns supreme!
  19. It sounds like he will be back and forth from Aus to NZ , so perhaps that answers how it will run. Fascinating to see how he goes over there with the new firepower they have, I think he will do very well.

Help me out , is this how a normal slot race works ? A slot holder trains other slots holders horses for the race?
  21. Agree that does seem off, unless they are by passing the ex NI route a lot of horses take and going directly there instead?
  22. I think we will all enjoy finding out what @Chief Stipe has taken a share in at this sale @Jim Green , he doesn't get much wrong so exciting times ahead for us all !
  23. So they are racing for $18k in Aus, seems strange we are racing for $18k in NZ as well and we were talking about Aus. prizemoney & training fees . Perhaps Aus & NZ have more in common that we think?
  24. Is someone racing for $18k over there today?
