  1. Great run by Savaglee ,such a long straight there a pity for obvious reasons he couldn't salute.

I'm certainly interested in watching alot of the races on the programme, just not the slot race it's a fizzer & they will overhype it beyond what it's actually capable of delivering. Any race that needs $$$ as the prime interest factor has little value in my view.

Look Chief we all know you have this thing about Wightman and you get a mini brain aneurysm every time his named is mentioned , I'm guessing he hurt you somewhere along your comprehensive journey in the sport of kings? If it helps to talk about it on here I'm all ears if you want to open up about how he hurt you and how we can work as a group to help you deal with those hurty feelings.

It's getting exciting now a full field ...wow! The real excitement however lies with Wightman, will he show on course? So many angles to this prestigious race!
  5. Very sad RIP
  6. Agree , no plan going forward just more corporate BS, no thoughts of trying to bring other tracks back online or some other initiative for use in fact just nothing - they really are a hopeless organisation.
  7. More of a move to not have to go face to face with those you've tormented than a ticket allocation issue IMHO.
  8. I think he will go far , very much what you see on TV same as off it , unlike several others.
  9. Some interesting tidbits : sends every owner a copy of the racing annual. Pays for all yearling purchases straight away. Thinks Sam Bergerson will be the next Jamie Richards I hope so he is a very likeable chap.
  10. Exactly! They have thrown $$$ around with wild abandon and all those who are allowed a say on racing media are telling everyone that everything is super good - last weeks 2 abandonments have been a bit of a wake up call/reality check for the industry. It's really not that hard to have done what they have done, no wonder they are leaving.
  11. Part of the reason the sport will head into a terminal decline MF. The next generation involved/interested isn't big enough and don't or aren't able to to do the volunteer thing, pretty much the same across most clubs orgs , but the worst will be seen in racing imho.
  12. It certainly probably is the best thing to do for the industry when everything else is working tracks, programming, competent governing body, calendar, effective wagering model etc. But the research they probably looked at ,was from a jurisdiction that had all of that good stuff in place, they really are that silly.
  13. Couldn't they find one by one of their Stallions?
  14. Snake Oil & Salesmen. Preaching the same garbage that has the industry in the state it's currently in.
  15. Absolute load of rubbish, this very attitude is the reason the sport is in the position it is now. Nepotism in NZ racing is rife, there are certain courses around the country that could be on fire or under water and they would still be attempting to keep them going. The issue is there has never been a fair assessment and the metrics they have attempted to use ie. location/stands etc are now absolutely irrelevant.
  16. Typical of NZracing , depends who you are.
  17. They don't seem to worry about that in the SI.
  18. Exactly no plan. They have enough horses because they aren't getting a run on the allocated tracks.
  19. Exactly , the too many tracks argument makes no sense at all. Balcombe didn't give any degree of certainty around a plan to resuscitate the industry with regards to tracks, get as many as possible up to racing standards and use them or prepared to be very embarrassed again and again.
  20. Rubbish, plenty of tracks able to cope with jumpouts /trials/gallops etc but not used for racing 9or gone now because they have been left to rot). I agree there needs to be reinvestment in infrastructure and thats why you utilise everything available , also perhaps the venues chosen to continue racing on aren't the right ones. They have largely been chosen because of location and industry nepotism.
  21. Speaking up finally , time to utilise all the industry assets that we can. Enough of this land grab by stealth , they have ruined the industry.
  22. Sweeney "Things have to change" - start by calling out the fools who are running the industry!
  23. Interesting comment from Kelly Myers about riding in Saudi , supposedly much like riding in the SI.

Absolute snorefest of a race without PT in it. Next year and the year after no problem as we will have your TA horse in it somewhere, take your time to tell us which one we are following throughout the season , plenty of time.
