They will ban gambling on greyhound racing in NZ, i have no doubt. There's countries around the world who have banned gambling on dogs before even banning the sport itself. Society has to ask where we want to draw the line... greyhound racing gone, horse racing? Equestrian? Rodeo? Live exports? Shall we draw the line there? Or will we roll over and let gambling,hunting,farming, fishing get banned aswell ?

During this era an LP election was held, which was completely rorted, Calverley got voted out, but Holden/Rendle etc put all the voting papers through the shredder and said "G Calverley is the winner". I saw this as one of the last nails in the coffin, if corruption could happen at the highest level, and all the LP's rolled over and accepted it. Rendle, emboldened by this rort of an LP election, has not looked back since, making as much money as he could whilst running the industry into oblivion.

Rendle was the wrong choice.

Agree having no place prices displayed is stupid/annoying. I've done a survey of 1 person (my Mother in her 70's) and she is most upset, can no longer read/see the information on screen, was talking about wearing her glasses now and sitting closer, and she's got a big TV 60"+. And she's not just complaining because it's something new, she just simply could see/read the information clearly before, now she can't.

Brodie, by using the word 'gifted' you are proving the point that you are racist, or it possibly could be more kindly called a lack of knowledge (ignorance). The 'gifts' you are referring to are treaty settlements... for stolen/confiscated land (breaches of the treaty). And the settlement amounts are a tiny fraction of the commercial value of the stolen land. You could do some googling and school up on some of this stuff pretty quickly if you wanted to... or you could just stay ignorant.

One more thing I will actually say is.... no matter what your opinion on this subject is or what ever your political leaning is.. we are stuck in a death spiral of never getting anywhere on a number of issues.. history shows us that we swing from left to right approximately every decade or so, introducing policies, repelling policies and ultimately getting nowhere, so in that regard I am a defeatist, and certainly support anyone who 'stays in their lane' and looks out for number 1... I think we've all felt in the last decade or so that we'd be better off 'going bush' or living quietly in a bach on the coast away from all the bullshit.. ✌️

Don't know Huey (or Cyril), wouldn't know if they are 'common men' or 'wealthy' men, I'm just speaking to the fact that, personally, the irony of the contrasts in my TV viewing lastnight wasn't lost on me. In fact, if the aforementioned men are in fact wealthy, then I'd probably have even more respect for the fact that they can still see this as "not smelling right" or being "sickening". I have a background in the greyhound industry so I'm very common lol. And to us 'greyhound people' and to everyday common people, horse racing is a 'rich man's sport'. That is a fact that has never looked more apparent than last night... I understand people's concern that this isnt really any help to "battlers,smaller trainers, heartland racecourses and clubs". All of the above have all but been eradicated from the sport of greyhound racing, its gone from a hobbie/sport to a gambling product basically, lost its heart and soul. I see your point, and I take that on board, employing lots of people.. 👍

I must say I sat and watched the news that night, stories about kids living in hardship, no money to upgrade rotting classrooms, National instead spending money on tax cuts dishing out prob $20 a week (if that) for the struggling 'common man' ... then I flicked over to watch the slot auction, and in that sense, I think I see where Huey is coming from.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I've just heard from Brett at SPCA , prosecution have dropped the charges against Cole. What a long drawn out saga for ultimately nothing. I was a witness/former worker willing to give my evidence in court, but we wont get there, and I'm gutted about that. There's many other witnesses who put themselves out there aswell, in the face of fear and intimidation who I feel for at this moment too. Brett sounded gutted aswell. Nothing much more to say, the game is fucked, the justice system is fucked...how sad too bad... SPCA asked if I'm happy for my evidence to be given to RIU..I said yeh give it to them!! They'll probably shred the evidence and give the shredded paper to Cole for his pet rabbits...???

Dodgy as all hell those Coles make no mistake, Bonnie and Clyde, partners in crime. I think she was going by Cole in some or all aspects of her life at one stage but once the shit hit the fan on the news a few years ago she quickly went back to double identities. I couldn't agree more Yankiwi, this latest thing you've shone the light on stinks like a rat, like many things in this industry! Corruption is rife in the greyhound industry, of that i have no doubt. What a fantastic job you do Yankiwi shining the light on this shit, asking the questions, (trying) to keep them honest! And you do it on behalf of LP's, 95% of which are willing to go along blindly accepting all this cheating and corruption without even a whimper or complaint. Making your efforts all the more honourable Yank because I know from my own experience that standing up to cheats and corruption, often on behalf of others who dont even seem to give a shit to fight it themselves can be frustrating to say the least.

I've got some news. I've just got off the phone with Bret from SPCA. Unfortunately B Cole's court appearance has been moved to a later date (again) , 9th August now. I asked why, didn't get an exact reason other than "the legal system is a slow moving machine". Sorry to be the bearer of this unfortunate, annoying news.
