Ok TEAM I BELIEVE THIS GUY IS OUT OF HIS DEPTH. What I would like the team to go and have a look at is R2 at Taranaki where Ace Lawson got a 5 day suspension. He is riding a horse named Sesimbra in Velas colours and wins, paying $5 50. He is charged for interference with the last-placed horse, Justadude, which finishes 24l last at the 550m mark. How Ace Carrol gets a 5-day suspension? To me, it borders on incompetence by Oatham to even charge him. The horse he is alleged and found guilty of was going backwards and the overreacting by the rider of Justadude it does not mean a charge was warranted and worse he pleaded Guilty. This rubbish must stop, do not plead Guilty if the charge is cringeworthy and you may get a 1 day reduction if you plead Guilty. Have a look at the Stewards video and I will trust my opinion and hope you guys agree Oatham is a joke and an embarrassment to our industry. I watch a lot of the videos and this guy is not the real deal

An interesting charge here and i am not defending the proven charge. I found it interesting that the President of the Reefton Jockey Club called J Oatham a liar regarding what he had said about canceling its New Year meeting. Brian Molloy is an unpaid official of the club.I struggle to see why he was not charged IF WHAT HE HAD ACCUSED Mr Oatham was the truth and any charge may have been embarrassing to him and the RIU.

Well done on your achievement Jaylah. It is no surprise as she has good Genes, both her parents could ride, It is similar to Sam Collett, with Jim and Trudy, but in my case, my wife of 37 years couldn't ride a bike, she did have a horse but she couldn't get the horse to go out of his paddock, so I with some help from my persuaded did and I could she was totally smitten. The other example is Paul and Leanne Richards, Paul was an excellent rider and Leanne didn't ride, the result was Jamie who had a couple of Amateur rides but was ordinary but became a premiership-winning Trainer, so fortunately Jamie has 70% of his Mothers genes which shows in 2 examples both parents must have ridden to make top Riders.😀

We were disappointed,but will add the club more so. We had a good night at the meet and greet.One punter wanted to know what Rough Habit is or was,he was heckled and was given a yellow card, and rightfully so,all done with humor. We were also keen to do the comp on Aussie Racing, but that didn't happen. We played 3 games of Golf and never had to wear a jacket as there was zero rain and the Clubs allowed Golf Carts on the course because they didn't have enough rain to damage the turf. I never have had faith or trust in J Oatham as Chief Stipe, I just believe he does what he thinks is correct and so many times he is incorrect in his decisions/rulings.

I and 3 other ratbags from Clarks Beach are heading down to New Plymouth for this event. We are going down on Thursday to check the track, well that's what the wives have been told and as we are leaving at 6 am, so they will not see that the golf clubs have been allocated a spot in the boot.We are stopping somewhere,I have been told what the course is but I am too excited to remember. We will also be in the tournament that the club has organized, so if any members of BOATY are also going to play, you are welcome to place a wager, either against me or the team of hackers that are only cardboard cutouts of golfers. One of our team believes he is a top tipster, but trust me he is not, so much so we have put 2 entries in,1 for him and I for the other 3 and I wonder what he will do after race 2 when he is out of funds. I have a small share in the said horse and I will give my opinion and say that the blinkers clearly helped, also pleasing was that I talked a first-time owner into taking a small share. I had a small wager on her, including $2 of the Trifecta but didn't take the same bet for the first 4 which I would have got. I will tell you in my opinion that she wouldn't have gone any quicker if Ace had not dropped his whip, as she was in full flight and more importantly balanced.

I must say what a top ride on Mark Twain by M Dee. At the top of the long straight, he was a 100\1 chance, but Micheal who is a strong left-hand rider pulled the stick into his right hand as he was hanging badly and the response was immediate. He has the ability Mark Twain but is still a work in motion, I do remember when he won at Te Rapa, Masa said he gave him a torrid ride. So kudos to Mick

I remember one day at Hokitika when the track was a bog. The maiden race was 1600m and won in a time of 2.03m. The timekeeper was a mate of mine and he said that he knew Harness horses could break 2m, so he made the time to 1m 59, as he could not have the impression they could go quicker than a Thoroughbred.

Surprise, Surprise,Oatham at again. I had to help my son shift into his property in Karaka, so i was only going to have a couple of bets when we were finished,as planed i had a $40 WIN/PLACE all-up bet on Tulsi into Imwonderfultonight,I get a return so decide to have a go in the last,I take Betty Spaghetti,Iffididnt in a $20 Q and take those 2 first and second with the field x2 in the Trifecta.I watch the race and all going well until the 100m when the gap closes and Iffididnt has to switch ground to the inside, clearly costing it 2nd place.Was there any movement from the 1st and 2nd horses? Who would know as he didn't see anything worth reporting on. Now i wait for Steward's report and Surprise, Surprise, NOTHING seen or reported on.Oatham's job is to report on ANYTHING that is relevant to the race, He has not once again, even Matt Cross said in his commentary of the race that the horse had to shift ground The CJC, Trainers and Jockeys will be happy for showcasing the best week in NZ Racing, but in my opinion the RIU fell well short of the required standard and must be held to account.

As i do when i am having a bet, especially over a carnival, I go back and have a look for any horses that were in my opinion unlucky. I found one in the open 1000m sprint on the first day at Riccarton called Imwonderfiltonight,I thought it did not have a lot of room to improve and considered it unlucky. So i go to the Stewards report which Oatham was the Sheriff and you guess it, not even a mention of the horse,i cannot fathom how he failed to even not consider that horse was not unlucky. At the worst, go and ask the rider, he may even congratulate you for doing your job description and believe you are competent. I have seen the lies written by J Oatham regarding the Reefton cancellation and I will put my hand up and say he is well and truly passed his use-by date.

Put Candycane in your Black Booke file. Missed 6 gaps and was going sideways all the way down the straight to get clear air. I did have a good day yesterday but would have been a great day if she had been put into the race,but we all make mistakes

I rode at Reefton for many years and i can honestly say that i enjoyed riding there and the other 3 Coast tracks also. The reason i enjoyed riding there amongst other reasons,is a horse could win there as long as it had some basic speed, this led to many winners winning there, whereas they couldn't win at Riccarton,so in my opinion, there is clearly a place for tracks with a circumference like Reefton. Just on passing,I Flying View got beaten there before he won the Telegraph and Brutus also ran there and then went on to win the Malbro Mile, so many quality horses have used Reefton to get ready for bigger assignments. Another excellent aspect is how close the action is to the public. What i have read here clearly suggests that Reefton has been the subject of bias by the RIU and I believe the response from the RIU is weak and appears to me to be covering their a##se. It is clear to me that the incident was attributed to the rider angling out to force Laking's horse out, could not do it and slipped then angle back to rail and went on to win the race, also have you ever tried to run in a race with one shoe on, you would not have any rhythm and would be unbalanced, how this horse was allowed to start, minus a back plate is simply unbelievable and would, without doubt, contributed to the horse slipping for a stride and the outward movement by the winning horse was the sole reason why this incident happened, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRACK. I have also watched the race on numerous occasions and i cannot see any horse slipping throughout the race.

I am in 100% agreement to see the correspondence you have had with the RIU and also their replies if any. We have had many issues with integrity within the RIU over the years. I will go into some detail with Posters if this thread gets any traction, including the charges laid against me, which failed and cost the RIU thousands of dollars in costs after bringing frivolous charges against me. Curious has the detail as well, as he was a part of the defense team with his important research of the case. So let's get behind the Reefton Jockey Club and expose the cover-up that appears to have been done by the RIU.

Lucky enough to be one of the 13 jockeys who won on Grey Way and i can remember like it was yesterday. At the top of the straight I am in a power of trouble, then after a bit of encouragement , he swaps legs and into another gear and then the race was all over.

I watched the race and to me it was completive riding by Jason when Terry went to push out, right on the point of the bend and was shoved back in, but the main contributing factor was the horse being given permission to race with one hind shoe. Can they not understand how this would affect a horse's rhythm and galloping action, Has anyone tried to run at pace with one shoe on? What the saying, An ounce on the foot is worth a pound on the back? I looked at the whole race and was thinking what great order the track was presented in, going out of the straight they were just lifting the grass, which suggest to me the track was not the issue. When i had a crack at Ross Neil regarding the horse of Johnno Benners, that horse slipped and spread itself and going down on its nose, now that was a track that was not safe for racing. I am of the opinion the 3 Stewards must be asked a question and maybe some riders should consider retirement. Kevin Morton

I have watched the replay many times and what i will say it was a marginal gap that Sam took and interestingly J Laking was questioned why he DIDN"T take a gap that was marginal yesterday.. The interesting fact is when you watch the replay i seen something that i have never seen before, if you watch it was that the horse that was positioned outside back leg makes contact with the horse outside that horse with his leg and Taki saddle had slipped right under his horse when it fell and also his helmut had also come off. The main point i believe is, was there sufficient room for Sam's mount and when you watch the replay it was marginal,but if the Stewards questioned J Laking yesterday regarding why he didn't improve into a gap, which they stated was marginal, they can't one rule and another rule for others. Also just for the record, I was in a race when Paul Goslin was killed at Greymouth around 35 years ago and he was apprenticed with me and sadly i got him the ride.

Correct, this is reinforced by the actions of T Moseley at Ashburton, who put 3 on the deck,all 3 Riders put into hospital ,any of the 3 could have had the same serious consequence as Tiger and he gets a 4 week suspension. If these types of penalties are given out by the JCA, then this roughhouse riding will continue, So Pam you must be believe Sam is guilty before the charge is proven, going by your statement that he must live with the consequences, so are you correct in your assumption?

A Eleven out of Ten ride. What a way to go out with a ride like that. I am in the club Golf champs today and if i play as good as that ride, I will bring home the bacon. I had a small wager on him, if i had known it was his last ride, the bet would have been a lot bigger. Enjoy your retirement, as you have put your body thru hell, walking 61kg 2 days before a raceday and getting down to 54kg is hard to do week after week. I am sure the Lindsay's will offer him some sort of employment in the future, although with his Golf cart hire business and his wife Jess income he will be secure in the future.

Well done to Lisa, if i trained the horse, I would be asking question's why she didn't improve into the gap. It is rare for a rider to not plead guilty to get a reduced sentence, so well done to Lisa, it clearly was the right action to take and i hope Lisa was compensated for her time to defend a charge that should never had seen the light of day.
