Wrong,the reason the margin was a head was the fact the Little D was doing her best to keep the horse going straight. No doubt Taroni did move out when looking at the big screen but that was within 20m of the finish line and the 2nd had been hard ridden prior to this and was not taking any ground off the winner. The main rule to adhere to here is ,would have the 2nd horse beaten the winner,I say no and that is why in my opinion this was the wrong decision.

To put of balance in to this.I was at the races yesterday and overheard the discussion between the parties.I noticed the horse was vetted pre and post race with no issues,i had a good look at the horse and in my option the horse looked in great condition and looked like a happy horse after the race.I spoke to the trainer and i can tell you he has genuine love for his horse and went on to say the last thing he would want would be for something to go wrong with him on raceday,he further added,even though the horse is a natural at jumping,he couldn't allow himself to be entered for a jumping race in case he fell in a race.He added that he just wanted to finish on his terms not officialdom terms,so he has accepted the decision and i can tell you this horse will be given the retirement he deserves and will be an asset for the young horses he will help educate.

Can Peter ask M Goober on Wednesday if J Oatham is now based in Christchurch? I have been informed that he is and the reason is to be with his daughter, who has recently given birth. This is very noble, but who is paying for his Airfares and associated cost to be based in Christchurch when he does the majority of his work in the Northern area. If the RIU is covering this cost, i believe that if he chooses to be based in Christchurch,then he should be covering his own costs. Thanks in advance

What this means is that Nigel can go both the Police and the RIU for costs,which will include loss of earnings,damage to his reputation and legal costs.

100/% the RIU here is the issue,PEOPLE like Ching,, who was an average rider drink a few beers with another average stipe called B Craick become a stipe but M Pitman destroyed him , he changed teams and became a member of the RIU,go back and sell houses and get off the gravy train called racing/intergirty and you will have several people in the same boat

I went to the stud a few weeks ago and i was told that RL had to be hand walked for 30 minutes every day.The stud/owners from where he came from left no stone upturned for RL safety and well being. Colic can and does happen all the time but to say this may hinder shuttle travel is unlikely,when you have had Coolmore and Darley sending stallions down under for years and RL would have done thousands of km in his racing career and look poor old Subzero almost fell to colic

I agree she raced so much better,but the tempo of the race allowed her to travel better,that is the best she looked in the running,but in my view the tempo was hot,but do agree the gear they had on was wrong and Waller is a genius at getting gear correct

Are you serious Reefton? A Saturday meeting and they couldn't do 20k on course and around the same figures for Riccarton. If any of these clubs have promotion/Marketing personal,they are clearly void of ideas,or you are 100% correct and these big clubs are the cause of the decline of Racing.Send these figures to Messara and see if he will reverse his original proposal.

Thursdays meeting has been canned because a lack of entries. Goodness knows where our industry is heading,as in perfect weather,good surface and not enough horses to fill the fields.

I read where the Indian Jockey Club allowed a horse to be named Winx. It also states that 3/4 is as quick as it can go
