  1. I watched a race at Timaru and was stunned by the ride on Madam Sequoia. This mare was favourite and rightly so, given her form ,but the ride was terrible. What is frustrating is with the Stewards that presided over the meeting. They did question her over the ride, which Stevie Wonder would have seen, but they did nothing, not even a warning,I just find this unexpectable. This is why NZ Racing is light years behind Australia. Punters there get protected when incompetence is shown by Riders. If you have a look at some of J MacDonald's charges he has had to defend and not always successfully for not giving a horse every possible chance and then have a look at Madam Sequoia ride, they are light years away in NZ on policing races. I do not enjoy bagging Jockeys, but this ride certainly needed a charge laid. This way the rider who admitted she got it wrong in the report may learn something and punters may get protected from incompetence from our Stewards. They did find B Murray for using the whip excessively , which may appease the animal rights group, but start looking at the real issues that affect the punting lifeblood of NZ racing like this example i have given.
  2. Any chance of you disclosing your identity? I didn't have a bet in that race , but if i did RTP would not be the horse of my choice and i will be happy to have a side bet with you, as along as it gets a rider of your choice. Now do not hide like you do with your identity
  3. I did not have Pavlova, I do not wear glasses, i do not have diabetes.so not surprisingly you are wrong on these 3 and also add another one to your talley, your bagging of the ride I do have 20 plus years of riding experience and in my opinion the horse was not traveling and hence the reason it could not push Sheriff out,it he was traveling he would have been along side Sheriff not a neck back. The one issue i have and this can only happen with better Stewardship, is to charge riders when they continue riding there horse when it is laying in or out, the reins are there for a reason, but with the Stewards we have at the moment, I can not see anything changing.
  4. You may well have, tell me your name and i will advise if you did, but you will continue to hide, I am picking
  5. Not saying A Rodley is a good tipster, but he didn't want a bar of him, even though he started favourite, so he got it right
  6. What a load of rubbish, the horse was never traveling like a winner, If you are going to blame the rider , then next start i will have a bet with either or both of you, if he doesn't ride it. Let me know if you will back your judgement.
  7. He got off Showgate to ride Zarnia, the reason was he was taking L Pratts daughter out at the time,Showgate broke Zarnia's heart in that race and from memory she never won another race Does anyone think the McKees would have put Sunline in a 3200m race? There are so many stories about the champion mare, one i remember well was Glyn Tucker had a show called Turf Talk and he compared Show Gate v La Mer, he went for La Mer as he believe she was better sprinter. Anyway he went on to say that she was turned out in the lush paddocks in Otago. Well we were going to the races a short time later and were early, so went around to see her. No answer at the door so walked down to the stables and found her in a box and i will not tell you the condition of the stable . but we did fill her water bucket, It was enough to bring a tear to your eye.
  8. Food for thought, the only horse i know of the Gorgie sacked was Gates Ajar who had lost all form. Stan McKay took him over and good success with him,not sure of the number of wins he had , but it was several. Anyway, I will still stand by my opinion, Show Gate was the best horse i have seen and will take a some horse to change my mind.
  9. Chief, can you do some research and look for me,as you are better than i. Can you find were Gordon Thomson was fined for the way Show Gate was presented in the birdcage,i am nearly sure it was the Jackson Stakes, where she beat Count Kerau Spelling, from memory she had the scours and it was all down her hind legs. On Grey Way and Copper Belt battles, Grey Way a loyal strapper named George McKay and after one of there battles, which Copper Belt won, Mrs Pauline Deacon gave George a message along the lines of Bad Luck today, which the loyal strapper could not handle, so they were in the wash bay and he turned around and sprayed Mrs Deacon with the hose and anyone who knows her, also knows she was always well groomed, but after the wash down her well permed hair wasn't looking that flash.True story
  10. Chief, I cannot agree with you when you say how Show Gate was treated is Irrelevant. Have a look at say Winx, she would have had a blood test taken once a week, any horse vitamins/supplements, she had her own masseur to manipulate her muscle, had access to a pool, treadmill and any other aid available to a horses well being. Now i will tell you a couple of stories regarding Show Gate, I asked Gordon if he used Veterinary services on his Bonny mare, his reply was she saw a vet twice in her life, the day she broke down at Trentham and the day she got pregnancy tested. The Kurow president asked him if he would bring her to their meeting to show the public ,He asked if they had an open sprint, this was after having a week off, he said yes,so put her in carried top weight and won in a canter.A leading female equestrian rider who is now married to a leading owner who lived in Ashburton knew where GB kept his horses over Cup Week and seen SG and looked in her feed bin and replied that her pony would get a better feed.Dusty chaff and scoop of oats Anyway both Winx and Show Gate in my opinion were champions, but i do wonder if the trainers were swapped, if we would be still call both them champions, I would not think so for one of them.
  11. Brodie and any other posters that have little on today,Goggle a site called Rumble and search Dr Michael Yeadon and Dr Ryan Cole,in my view it makes compulsory reading regarding covid. The site rumble was created due to You Tube and alot of other sites TAKING DOWN ANY OF THERE OPINIONS.
  12. What i will say on this matter is,I never had a fall at Reefton, but did have several at Rangoria in the 25 years i rode. I rode in a race when Paul Goslin was killed at Greymouth, but this had nothing to do with the track, a horse ahead of him broke down and came back on to him, both the horse and rider did several somersaults ending in a tragic accident. Holitika was a hard track to ride, as it was the only track that went the reverse way and had some tricky start points, I remember one day when the late Ray Hewison ended up on a car bonnet going out of the straight, when the horse he was riding failed to take the turn out of the straight. The old couple who's car it was ,never even moved, must have been real Coasters
  13. Yes i agree,re Kevin Payne, the guy is passionate about racing. I may be wrong but was it Broomhall that gave him the push?
  14. The members of the JCA who made this manifestly incorrect decision, should be SACKED,this is just a wrong decision and clearly shows how incompetent both RIU and JCA are
  15. But they were, so who is at wrong? The punters who did the form under the false readings given by race control
  16. Have a read to see how far we have reached in decline. I thought Thomas would be all over this.It is about how punters were told incorrectly what the track readings were. Just more crap from this outfit
  17. Join the the dots.S McKee trained Consensus for him and isn't he in laws with SLB2.0
  18. Yes and the last time i spoke to her was a year ago and whist she had improved, she still wasn't allowed a drivers licence, due to ongoing seizures. They shouldn't have raced that day,but the steward in charge that day,i believe was S Ching. who retired from that role, but he wasn't lost to the industry,he become a member of the JCA. If you read the report, from memory it says"if NZTR continue race at Rangoria and any person injured or killed in a race incident, due to the track, manslaughter would be the charge.
  19. Are you fu##in serious?I should send an email and ask for the amount of successful convictions he has had during his tenure. The upside is the RIU/JCA must come to the realisation that gravy train, has run out of gravy.
  20. I just cannot believe the RIU need 92 people to make it function and maintain the Integrity of Racing and if you look at their staff employees, they have 2 more Stewards TBA,seriously? As anyone heard of Basil Payn{betting analyst} or any reports he has done for the RIU,His employment must cease forthwith, that will be a start to prune this overladen wage tree. Why do we need M Goober as the Head of the RIU,we have the head of Integrity, the head of Thoroughbred Stewards, the head of Harness Stewards, just make one of these the overall Head. I truly hope the submissions before the Government now, have a submission lodged to disband this top heavy organisation and start again,as it is abundantly clear it cannot operate in it"s current form with the crisis we face at the moment. I do feel for the head of RITA,as in my view if he can turn the Racing Industry around,he should run the country, but with no pokie funding in the short term, how can this organisation continue?.
  21. It doesn't appear to be the case,as Karen Zimmerman just got made redundant from Tiley Racing,
  22. I have a 2yo pacer in work with a NI trainer{ not fair to name him} as he doesn't do the job. Can anyone tell me what a blacksmith charges to shoe a Harness horse once a month. The reason i asked as we are charged a few cents under $190,now i have had many gallopers and the dearest account was $160,both include GST. There may be a reason, but they both have 4 legs and i would say Harness would be easier to shoe than a Throughbred. Thanks in advance
  23. This is another case of how incompetent the RIU is. I have spoken to several riders and they say it is completely untrue that riders didn't call out, which is what Goober said they didn't call out. To my way of thinking punters were screwed again when horses weren't removed and vet checked , as the hole field charged the gates when the starter called our Watch The Gates then recoiled backwards and then he hit the button again. Would we have this wet ticket approach into this incident, if Innes had been badly injured and Work Safe had been called in.? If people don't remember how badly a horse can be hurt when they hit the gates, cast your mine back to a similar incident when One Baker Street did exactly this also at this course. Her injuries included total blindness, multiple head injuries and days later she was put down,so not to unload the field and push the button a split second later is beyond belief . I tuned into Pete Earlys show and when Goober was asked a question on the incident,What came out of mouth just showed me his lack of leadership in his role as the Head of the RIU
  24. Now that Ken Rutherford has gone and Butch Castles is steering the ship it will not be rudderless. The worse CEO on record, fact. An aside issue, i listened to Michael Dore today on Trackside radio and he was asked if he had made any recommendations about the upgrade of the new betting platform,he answered that he made 3 and all 3 were ignored, just shows that a guy with years of experience on the in and outs of the TAB was given the one finger salute.
