An amazing trainer, that acts like a true professional and is willing to help anyone, and so humble in her career wins. Karen has always had the welfare of the dogs at heart. You would find it hard to find anyone like her. Good luck Karen. ..........

After all the success in Australia, wasn't there an Aussie looking after the tracks, I was sure there was 🤥 -
Who punched who? Assault at greyhound racetrack caught on video
racinggreys replied to Bill's topic in Dog Chat
Wow, irrespective of the incident. Paula Penfold is the last person we need involved again. It's her who dropped the surprise on Jim Leach in the middle of in interview about the burnt dogs. -
In 20 months no more @Yankiwi....I mean Greyhounds are Banned!

And that's where the wheels come off. The Board appointments that were "jobs for the boys", just look at the history. Rendle, Hannan, Barsi, Hughs, Holden, Rennell. It's a pretty sad line up when you dissect it. Not to mention the outstanding board members like D Scott. And the rest of the board that have come before the RIU as it was. Then the elite trainers like Cole, Wales, Freeman, Schofield, McInerny, Fahey, Weir. that make good RIB decision reading. And if that's not enough, the inability to make the tracks safer, and bring in the experts that have made no difference at all. The story about track death reduction is just smoke and mirrors. Dogs are still breaking bones; the only difference today is GRNZ are spending huge amounts of money to fix them, so the stats don't show them as deaths. It's no wonder we are where we are. -
Both PMs said yes to banning Greyhound racing
racinggreys replied to BitofaLegend's topic in Dog Chat
Well the turn of events is sure interesting. Labour out, Minister of Racing who is clearly sympathetic to all codes out, Winston the King maker likely not to hold any power who is also sympathetic to racing. National who said they would ban greyhound racing........... So where does that leave us??? -
What absolute bullshit. Hes not going to, or would be able to walk away with what he's put into that property and business. It's worth nothing to jo blogs and what greyhound trainers got the money to buy it? All he's doing is spouting poor me and looking for sympathy, or attention. And is disillusioned code for him and Rendel not getting their own way?

https://thegreyhoundrecorder.com.au/news/bathurst-summit-delivers-decisive-action-plan-48166 Looks like Mr Dores been singing to the Aussies how well it's going over here. I wonder just what evidence based data he's presenting them ??

If you go back to last weeks report both rugg and the lure driver checked it out which surprises me given neither of them are electronic specialists! So under the watch of the new track infrastructure manager we’ve got lure failures breaking dogs, auckland track breaking dogs, CHCH track breaking dogs. Excellent record so far huh! The management and board have their heads so far up their arses they obviously can’t see what’s happening, or care!
-
Use another board appointed puppet. Not one of them since sleepy Jim hasn’t been known to them. They have all been seat warmers lining their pockets with no interest in the dogs at all.
-
I am almost sure that the strikes the trainers initiated in aussie were partially because of the injuries and meeting losses caused by the track expert but they were all united and had the backing of the trainers association. I cant see our trainers getting together and making the same stand? The antis will be having a ball, the employmnet of an expert to sort it all out, the huge change and cost to Manakau which have made NO difference, and please dont blame the trainers it makes no difference to the end result where dogs have died as the antis just make the noise about dead dogs and injury numbers!! WTF is Wanagnui going to be like if it ever races again. GRNZ and the Board members have a LOT to answer for.
-
Yes it will help the trainers. But think about how much this has cost everyone. $0 worth of turnover, paid out all stakes to trainers, and the clubs probably got to pay wages for staff. So an expensive fookup !!
-
I had it first hand , the same thing. Trainers pissed off with more injuries than before he mucked around with the tracks, and when it went pear shaped the track men and clubs got the blame for being useless. GOTBA we’re call for his head. And the slightest inconsistency the race or meetings were called off. How on earth can you compare so quickly our sand to the Aussie sand, surely everything he has done has been on aussie sand and will need to learn about how ours acts? GRNSW GRV Deja vu Clearly no one reference checked this guy out with his Aussie managers !
-
I think if you dig a little deeper the stats will show little reduction in overall injuries, just breaks. Career ending injuries like monkey muscles, back muscles and gracilis are actually more than circle tracks I also heard the J track is the same.

Doesn't a certain Board member have dogs with him?
-
Jesus your more brainless than I gave you credit for aquaman. Covid is bul##$t, tell that to the anitvaxers that are in ICU pleading for it to be given to them once they have it.
-
Cracka response Aquaman. So do you endorse the anti vax, anti mask brigade?
-
While talking half a brain...Not wearing a mask in public at this point is one of the most selfish things a person can do unless they of course have some sort of medial condition that exempts them from doing so . Have some thought for other trainers and participants that might have a weak immune system for undelaying health reasons that you might not know of that you put at risk... If you are not wearing a mask because its uncomfortable, you are risking their lives. There are no mass reports of people not being able to breathe or dying because of the wearing of masks.
-
Weren't we told the new boxes were going to fix the injuries??
-
I think the story here is the story they are all telling Look at the last month, 1-being put on notice by Govt 2- another banned substance positive 3-Win for greyhounds! The Waitai Coastal-Burwood Community Board has rejected the greyhound racing industry's application to build a race track at QEII Park in Christchurch. A HUGE thank you to each and every one of you who took time to write to the Community Board 4-9 greyhounds die in 9 months at Wanganui

Shes got this............... Greyhound Racing New Zealand Accept Recommendations in Review We share the Government’s determination to ensure animal care is our priority and our community will continue to focus on the well-being of our dogs. We will cement in the continued gains made under the new management. We will work assiduously with the RIB and government to ensure that our processes will deliver on the shared goal of excellence in animal care and transparency of information. We accept that these processes will need to be maintained over the longer term to provide the appropriate reassurance. Despite this we may continue to face criticism raised by anti-racing groups. We do respect and always will respect the social licence we have been granted. Our revised management team have already put in place more new policies and reporting mechanisms which have enabled us to achieve the current improvements. As one of the most regulated sectors of the animal population in New Zealand with the comprehensive data we now have we are more than happy and ready to comply with the recommendations in the report. In relation to rehoming we are currently matching the number of dogs rehomed with those bred annually. We would like to acknowledge our rehoming partners for all the work they have done to assist us to achieve this goal, especially Nightrave which has worked closely with us to ensure the thorough socialisation of our dogs prior to adoption. GRNZ wishes to provide a categorical assurance of our determination to work with the Minister, the RIB and the communities we serve to ensure high standards of animal care and access to verified and transparent data. We must take issue with one aspect of the Minister’s Statement - we have provided an extensive and full submission and in no way have sought to obfuscate in any aspect of The Review or any other information we have been asked to provide. Our submission is available on our website as noted below. Animal Care is a key priority for all of our team and our licenced persons, and we welcome the opportunity for independent oversight from the newly established Racing Integrity Board. Our submission to the review is available on our website: https://www.grnz.co.nz/.../Greyhound-Racing-Independent... Any further information please contact: Glenda Hughes Glenda@grnz.co.nz

The World's Insane! What was Francis McPhee supposed to do?
racinggreys replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Dog Chat
Stellar performance by Mr Austin..... A - for not doing your homework and looking at precedents. Fundamental in his submission I would have thought. And B - that would have shown, correcting a dog is way bloody different to kicking a dog dont you think? [28] Mr Austin does not indicate in his submission why an $800 starting point is appropriate, nor why a fine considerably above those in the two cases cited should be imposed in this case. There is no starting point in either of these cases and the penalty in each is within the range the RIU submitted was appropriate. The Committee can make the assumption it is because of the integrity issue, just addressed, but equally there is a need for consistency in the imposition of penalties for like breaches. [29] The cases to which the parties refer have fines at the level of $250 and $300. One involves the kicking of a dog that would not enter the starting boxes at an unofficial trial, and the other a strike to the head when walking the dog to the start as it was reacting to having a bitch that was in season close to it. -

I dare say now that Winnie has faded into the oblivion it will be less likely to see anything from this government either now or in the future. -
