Craig Grylls and Robbie Patterson ...well done , Yes Indeed !
Gammalite replied to TAB For Ever's topic in Galloping Chat
Some great news too. They Broadcast those 2 Races at Trentham on Free To Air National TV Channel 7 Australia . The coverage was excellent and gave great exposure to Nz Racing . (to Aus audience) First time ever seen Nz races live on TV like that. shows the product must be very good and the nations are working well togeather to Promote Racing. and give Punters a good 'Group racing 'option to bet on with nice tough horses. -
Can Grimson pull off another miracle with kiwi horse.
Gammalite replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
I saw that 😁 , and laughed and laughed . He was trying to make it sound in jest but the Racing World watching on Free to Air tele knew what he meant. Gai (and Bott) had 3 super front running winners again yesterday and they seem to do what all those fantastic trainers can't . Just like Grimson at the trots. -
Glad you had had great time Walt . Mossdale ben beaten by the handicap in the Cup. but that's the whole idea of handicaps to give everyone a chance. your 2nd pick winning off the front ok for John Dunn . Double Time should Win a few more races by the look of things. The Galah and NoworNever with some great tipping too. Forb's reading the market was writing off Muscle Bank , but he was dominant. could go on and be a Addington Winner . My place picks from the first day were terrible and not even close. I'll have to study harder lol.

Can Grimson pull off another miracle with kiwi horse.

CYA Art going very well. running home gamely for 3rd. Ballarat Cup. The Grimson Juggernaut alive and well at Menangle too. Trained a winner for Graeme Rogerson with Cambridge horse IILHAVABUBBLES. since starting at Brisbane and running unplaced twice at her last 2 starts at 40-1 and 20-1 , Grimson took the Horse over , and raced her at Menangle and she's won by 5 lengths in 1.51 twice, in the past 2 weeks at $1.50 then $1.10 tonight ..... staggering what this man can do.😳 ILLHAVABubbles Part owned by C Livingstone as well who also races 'Mister ROBIN HOOD' , fresh from Cambridge where had one win in 17 starts last winter there, now blasting home in 1.51 for Grimson 😎. . (started 2nd fav tonight , ran 2nd to the NSW sires stakeswinner ) Livingstones good horse has left Queensland and joined GRIMSON as well. HOT and TREACHEROUS when he lines up next will be for Grimson after near a year in QLD . What will he run next ??? 1.47 I'm picking ? 😁. he was a good horse already , so wait to he cranks him up . Will run past Swayzee probably. be like a HOT Grim Rocket lol...😅 Grimson also winning tonight with Hi MYNAMEISJEFF again in a 1.48.6 mile (beating woodhams and Kennards horse Nz FFA winner SOUTH Coast ARDEN tonight) . fricken flying machines... already a Grim Rocket 🚀 -
Group 1 Ballarat Cup tonight and Jason Grimson trying to knock off Miracle mile winners (Catch A Wave) and co with another battler. CYA ART who had just one win in Nz last year in 14 starts , and just one win previous year (at Manawatu) Can he pop a Group 1 with this horse from inside of second row tonight????? possibly.😁 another Grimson Swayzee miracle lol.. Cya Art Won a Group 2 on Boxing Day recently at Bathurst, beating old kiwi's TAIPO and SMIFFY"s TERROR too. John and Robert Dunn's old horse seems to be ending his days without winning. ALTA ORLANDO down the track at Bathurst. ALTA ORLANDO has won over a million 💰 for them but just battling now ( 5 x thirds from 11 starts this Spring/ Summer campaign for about 15k so lucky to break even) might be time to retire the old warhorse shortly. He has done enough over the years ....

About $1000-1 either of those events occuring ??😋😅💰 hahaha I've got this second day covered anyway. (using some of Walts local knowledge) **Have abandoned the trotting races ( to avoid a galloper) **Have abandoned the ''Win market multi (everything keeps running 2nd at the wrong moment ) So have embraced the First Day Pacers who ALL ran 2nd !! to place again. worth a tenner? So it's a SEVEN SPOT to run a place ''place Multi .''... = 💰💰💰 $120-1 Sportsbet. R2 FredAstair $2.65 R4 Judine $1.75 R6 Quicksmart $2.50 R7 Style Council $1.95 R9 Jaccka Opa $1.90 R10 Mossdale Ben $1.65 R11 Millwood Indie $1.70

They must of Won quite a few 'Dominion' Handicaps in a row between them . And We got to see the great horse in Brisbane . What a Win it was!!! in the Interdominion Final. And a NZ Trifecta. !! Mountain Gold 2nd, was raced by a very nice friend of mine in Jim Smith from Takanini for a while , before he was sold for Big Price to Barry P. Special Force ran 3rd at Albion . Wow !! 😊 way back 2001 . seems like.... just the other day. Yulestar Won the Pacers Final for New Zealand too . (with the Tim and Ants Butt team running 3rd) Pocket Me I think it was called.

Double Cove gets Blackie the chocolates . Richard Brosnan training Him, and Derby too , to many victories early 80's . RJB winning the Cup and FFA the same year as Double Cove's photo above. His star mare Bonnie's Chance (a favourite of Walt's) knocking off Armalight in November in Cup week twice to be Queen of the Track ahead of her arch-rival. both Looking so cool in this photo , you wonder if it was taken just before the Cup rather than just after lol 😆
-
Oooooohmy goodness..😳 you guys are so close you're nearly on fire . 🔥 Nice horse DERBY was In the race that our horse won defeating Hands Down, Borana and Our Mana. and just the very start before that... nice horse NORTON had defeated Hands Down, Borana and Our Mana as well . with our 'Horse from the photo' and 'Derby' both just missing the places.
-
He went well Newmarket and on his day he was a beauty......but he could also do your head in. Done my head in. 🕵️♂️ Never heard of it. You blokes sure like some pretty obscure animals at times lol.😋 Lopez McFaber 6 wins from 46 starts and $20k earned. definitely not in the elite anyway. Here he is though with a good '2nd at Addington' in a photo for you. His conqueror here, a much better horse going on to beat Hands Down and Borana one time , but usually only 4th or 5th to Enterprise, Our Mana , Camelot, Roydon Glen, Hilarious Guest, Dillion Dale Spanker On and other greats of that era. . Might be one that slips past Rangatira ? Can Ranga get this Winner ?

Yes Neil Escott tried to stop the race as the Tote was still open and spose to be, for another 10 minutes. Due to A race/tote/power delay. But the starter didn't know this, and lined them up and started the race lol 😅.... brilliant .How very country NZ 😋. Escott said >>> Some stopped, some didn't. Of course, the tote was still open, and wasn't closed until they were halfway home. After that it rained...poured down. One fiasco after another. They decided to rerun the race after the last. I think eight went round again. (For the record: the T.S. Harrison-Nevele R Three-Year-Old Stakes was won by Beaudiene Bolta - John Hay - from Megatrend and All The Rage. Eight started after 12 were scratched, including the original winner, Twilight Time).

Shame about that GN Derby then Walt. Some good news is DILLON DEAN got some revenge and beat them All in the NZ Messenger 💰 for 4 yearolds the following year anyway. CJ drove Yes that is a young Mark Purdon in the photo above with Godfrey, returning to scale, after the NZ 2 year old Championship in the slop. Tuapeka Knight choked down and pulled up just after the start and Starship went like a scolded cat in front and wilted for Ian Cameron accordingly. Mark Purdon (23 years old then) got a suspension for interference in that race too , to the 2nd placed horse driven by a another junior in the young Glen Wolfenden... Junior drivers causing Havoc . that was Nothing unusual in those times Walt 😆😂.
-
Yeah I see he never raced again after the 3 yearold Sires Stakes in November at Addington, as a 3 year-old . (placed 3rd to another Northerner you mentioned Walt in Dillon Dean) ..... says StarShip wa purchased for $200,000 by 18 'West Coast' lads . You one of them Walt ? and Tuapeka Knight was purchased for $175,000 by the Horseplayers syndicate
-
Of course the 2 Very expensive 'purchases' went to Auckland for the Season ending New Zealand Juvenile Championship at the end of the season to try and be Top of the Crop. And in the Auckland slop , a junior driver takes the victory , to repel the Southern Pretenders who were down the track 😁!!! Is there nothing this champion man can/could do in trotting ? 😂

TAB having us on? Is Brodie right or wrong?????
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Well they try to set odds to keep the number regular. At TAB (or casino) the Ratio of winners to losers is One in Ten. The TAB and the casino like to see a bloke leave a winner , as long as 9 that lose, leave at the same time . That bloke VERY Likely to return in future. (and possibly join the group of 9 that lose) If for example the ratio is 5 winners to 5 losers constantly , they'll make nothing and no point running the shit-shows. so yes you're right a large group of losing punters is important . Most BOAY folk here like you,me Galah, Walt and others 'follow the form' somewhat accurately and are a chance of winning every 2nd raceday really being somewhat expert on the topic..(compared to the 1 in 10 wins that is the goal of the TAB/casino from mug pub punters and gambling addicts like the mugged pokie players and that ) and the amounts being spent is incredible. Not allowing single Huge bets is normal ?? you need Casino and TAB players to be having whole series of bets/punts gambles. I don't even remember ever being able to get more than $1000 on with a bookmaker on-course ever. Limits Have always been in place, a good thing for both Parties really .. to save Heavy Losses ..... think a very measured approach like Forb's mentioned above in this thread is the way to go . -
"Did someone say Starship ? " "Bring him on , I'm ready to Rumble ". "Us horseplayers like to have someone trying to keep in touch " 😁😋

Bang ! that's our boy . well done Mr Galah. Megatrend winning the Sires Stakes by near 5 lengths and picking up $82k for his trouble. Great money for those days to collect in one race. (He finished with $141k career total over 6 seasons as never really reached any big heights again after that 3 year old season) I was intrigued as EMCEE ran second in that Sires Stakes Final in Cup week to Megatrend.... And Emcee went on to win near 20 races there for John Lischner. then was sold and re-named The Emcee exported to QLD as a 6 yearold and seemed to win every month? for 4 years thereafter. Must of been around 40-50 wins for a good bloke Ray Cross in Brisvegas.. a regular winner and a real trier. probably the horse I seen win the most times , more than Delightful Lady at Auckland even.
-
Don't worry Walt . we'll find one someday that beats Ranga . Here's a candidate . sure to get him struggling. Blackie might be a chance of Getting it instead. Horse and Driver ?
-
Not at all Chief. I was only commenting on the Injury , what they are , and you were interested in percentages which are there, and how they occur. All well covered in that interesting report. The state of the Industry being Banned or whatever is another Topic ? I would of thought. Seems to be thriving in Australia. We had 2 races with a $1,000,000 to the winner run in December . Seem to be keeping well up with the trots. Fancy a greyhound getting a million in one race? couldn't believe it . Postman Pat was in one of them for Nz as well.
-
Here's an extremely interesting article from 2018 about Greyhound injury . It puts togeather international figures , (which would be similar to domestic . X-ray shows the common injury page 18, The types of injury page 9, and Reasons for injury inbetween !! read the lot in about 15 minutes . Is very good . and answers ALL the INJURY questions. The track surface having a lot to do with it . Hope this helps 😀😊🦮 Injuries in racing greyhounds.pdf

A bit disappointing Brodie 'Not On The Money' again. 😉😎 Don't beat yourself up too much mate , not picking that one.. the horse is no superstar. Completely off the bit getting to the lead a lap out on the Friday , last 1/2 mile 59.2 , against such poor ones they were strung out like browns cows even going that speed. And on Sunday drew so well and trailed the leader . didn't even have to come around the leader up the straight , home in 59.6 last half . very slow lot .. Only the Wilson House horse making good ground for 3rd was the only horse going any quicker. and they only gone a mile lol. (even the maidens in the mile, got home in 58 seconds earlier) .
-
Can't understand it Chief . The Te Akau ones were all beat on Friday , and just average today too. why did Kennedy sit wide with 'Wild Night' like that in such a small field. with Legarto there he might as well dropped back behind her after the start. that cooked his poor horse sitting wide outside her 😪

NELSON CLASSIC Day BOAY Winner . The Galah 🏆 (congrats with the 5 win haul compliments of Mr Dunn) Final PLACINGS (with the solid performers shining through to get the Trifecta this time in The Galah, Newmarket and Gamma) the first day Trifecta last Friday of Brodie , Chief , and Blackie seems just short 'sit and sprint' types apparently ?? compared to the true stayers coming through today to take out a more polished refined trifecta 😆😉 FINAL NELSON 2024 Points ..( thanks for playing ) The Galah 50 points Winner !!! , Newmarket + Gamma 40 pts, 2nd Equal place Blackie 36 pts, Brodie 34 pts, Chief 30 pts, Ranga 12 pts, Mikey 8 pts , Forbury + Walt 4 pts (Ben Hope ,Gavin Smith and the 3 alley having a shocker 😄)
-
And Carter Dalgety wins the last race . Brodie's fav Junior strutting his stuff. Newmarket see's another Junior in young Wilson House get 3rd and get him 4 pts too. 1st 4 WOODLEA JEWEL CARTER DALGETY FT - - 4.70 2.10 2nd 5 SOCIAL DISTANCING ROBBIE CLOSE FT - 3.20 3rd 12 FULL OF DESIRE WILSON HOUSE BL - 5.10 4th 3 MICHAEL CAINE BEN HOPE FT A BIG 5 Win haul by John Dunn carts the late call up runner Mr Galah to Victory. POINTS After Race 10 The Galah 50 points, Gamma 40 pts, Newmarket 36 pts, Blackie 36 pts, Chief 30 pts, Brodie 26 pts , Ranga 12 pts, Mikey 8 pts , Forbury 4 pts, Walt 2 pts Gammalite has lost his driver's in the last 😪. and is in the grandstand only. Can only hope Sheree (drawn the 1 alley) with that arm Stretch by the pulling horse, in the previous race, is TOO WEAK to get a placing and Blackie doesn't catch up ..😁 Newmarket has 'HIGH HOPE's' and is 'FULL Of DESIRE' as well to grab 2nd spot in the last race soon. he has those 2 runners coming home for him. The final race in 10 minutes time.
