  1. Wow . that was some crazy incident. don't see that sort of stuff everyday. I just watched it now after reading this thread. Why she did it is the quandary. Personally having been in a few races , you do find the odd horse that will look for the 'quick way out'. an exit to the track. Several have veered out towards the exit gate if given the opportunity. You see the odd one do it at the gallops up the home straight , when they're off the bit and getting tired. Also the whip and yelling and noise are a way a jockey/driver scares the horse into 'keeping going' as always. The combo of the Black rail looking a bit like an exit for her , and the fright from the Big whack from Sam look to of combined for this moment of near disaster. Kudos to the Running rail crew / designer with the horse bouncing off and remaining fairly uninjured. 'Egmont Kowhai ' got 'impaled through the chest on the running rail at Alexandra Park one time (when they used to have a fixed running rail ) on Owen Purdon. about 100m out from the line, just like Alabama lass too. Was a very traumatic scene indeed took them a long time to get her off. I think she recovered in the end after surgery. there's an old photo somewhere I should try and find.
  2. It's just one race. (Run annually) or 4 races if you count the 1/2 million dollar trot at Cambridge and the Ascent and Velocity at Addington. It's not a straw breaking the camels back you all claim it to be. A huge amount of the Stake money is SUPPLIED by the owners/ Slot holders to run those events , or they wouldn't happen. I believe the total for the four races is $2,500,000 per year. Come on Guys !! so if the Slots sell for $1,400,000 for the FOUR races . that leaves just $1,100,000 that HRNZ spend to have FOUR of the TOP Races EVER SEEN each year, with the BEST COMPETITORS . definition. Best Competitors being the TOP owners, TOP Horses, Top trainers in 2 countries ! WOW WEEEE They Showcase Our Amazing Sport to the Whole World πŸ‡³πŸ‡ΏπŸŒ . Attracting INTERNATIONAL Attention, and buyers Into our horse Market ( like Mike Tanev from Canada for example) a real BOOST for the Industry. and you BOAY fellows say . Don't Have them . Waste of money . $1,100,000 is too much for HRNZ to put in and run $ of the TOP races each year. ?? that's just fossil stuff . heads in the sand. Gallopers have a bloody million dollar race Every week of the year nearly. why should they have all the fun ???? We Are broke in Queensland too, But still put on the INTERDOMINION each year. Something HRNZ won't do because it costs too much run sadly. Just as you guys say . So Queensland do it anyway and pop in the entire $1,500,000 annually . a very large amount for a struggling harness industry ?. which a big chunk goes to Leap To Fame everytime πŸ˜† . but whatever lol . It's good for the TRADITION and Spectacle of our fantastic Sport. It Keeps people aspiring to win BIG prizes. IMO they should run our Time Honoured Tradition as a SLOT Event and have Participant funding. It will come to that one day. Mark my words. The advantages of Slot racing are 10 Fold over what happens now. (relying on Entain , sponsor or Sires Stakes , etc funding) the Interdominion will join in one day. and BOAY says "Don't have them ' lol. worried about the budget lol. Best million dollars πŸ’° HRNZ ever spend each year. 4 great races enjoyed around the world. good on ya BOAY !!!! progressive lot you are. πŸ˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‹
  3. A nice idea Brodster but Victoria harness is broke. just been propped by the Vic State government for 2 years very recently. HRV run tough/rough compared to HRNZ which do a better job IMO. They only ran the biggest feature there recently the Hunter Cup for tiny $142,000 for the winner. who was Swayzee. A very disappointing amount really ?just tiny $37k for 2nd. we just aren't capable of running the good races like NZ most of the time. Swayzee received $412,000 and then $540,000 for his 2 NZ Cup wins. maybe that's a wee bit too much? I guess it's the biggest race going there. The Miracle Mile next week that Swayzee races in is worth $550,000 for the winner . He got $60,000 for running 4th in it last year. Guess you should have some Million dollar races for the elite runners? but it's not the end of the world if we don't. they're (Standardbreds) only small fry compared to gallopers expenses and purchase prices and running costs. Considering that a 6 start 2 wins horse won $65,000 at far out as BIRCHIP in the Bush today, it just seems Slot races were a way we could FUND races better . For All classes . Just like the 6 start winner today. 'Wicked Confession' did win the race for James Herbertson today , and added $65k to his earnings. (which were $7000 before today) and yes too, unfortunately too much money going to Australia last few years.πŸ™„ I don't like that either as is no help to your local owners pockets. so they should be Banned. Ban Aussie trained runners, and if they want to run in NZ features the Aussie horse would have to domicile in NZ with a NZ trainer to support the industry there, for Minimum 3 months or something like that to be eligible. there's Just too many raiders at present. (even though I like them lol😎)
  4. Absolutely correct . They're putting on the best races , Attracting the Best horses (and Horsepeople) ever seen on NZ shores, like LEAP TO FAME , Just Believe, Gus, Swayzee, Kingman , Arcee Phoenix, Marketplace , Merlin , Akuta, Republican Party and many more. and grass roots Golden Gaits and $5000 stallion classic, harness millions and more. Maidens at Reefton are even getting more than $6000 for their win's today in the Bush Sundays .πŸ’°πŸ‘ fabulous stuff. And the racing is getting Rave reviews around the planet . Aussies are flooding in as they can't match this brilliance . well we do in QLD through July and that's about it. πŸ™„ Well done Brodster. You've encouraged Entain to support the harness industry of NewZealand . A very worthwhile cause . and the racing has Never been better. The Slot Races at Cambridge with the user pay concept have been just sensational quality horses and racing (and horsemen too) for 4 years now. How good is HRNZ doing this for everyone involved in the industry in Australasia ? . just Gold Medal standard. CEO should be nominated for an OBE for brilliant service to the Sport. NZ harness racing through the ceiling with quality support of all their participants.
  5. Well unfortunately with the Cambridge Slot race thread , we can see there no fans of Slot racing at BOAY. even with some of the Best horses on the planet attending like past winners Copy That , Just Believe, Leap To Fame and potentially Keayang Zahara this year . Such a treat for All to see. The arguement being it's for Rich Folk, or a Poor betting race or a waste of money . Just wanted to help you harness race loving BOAY folk with development of the sport, and inform that in about an hour , in VICTORIA country, 300kms from Melbourne at Birchip . they are running the first ever Victorian harness racing Slot race. (The last race at Birchip today race 7) . Victoria has more people than NZ and about the same size harness racing participation. Stakemoney is very low these days with lots of participants and little betting revenue. The BIRCHIP slot race involves 10 slots worth $10k each for 2 year minimum (so 20k for each Slot.) to allow the chance of a battler actually earning a BIG race Win. Plenty of local companies have bought slots and they are having a great day out , and the prize of the race is $125 k total . $65,000 for the winner, $25,000 for 2nd etc. Local horses from any Victorian stable as from December 1 , can go in . The favourite today is number One . a Horse with just 6 starts and 2 wins and $7000 earnings to date. No Mega Star by any stretch of the imagination. most of the runners are career earnings average of about 70k lifetime and are all battlers . I think they'll beat the number one , just with being more experienced. but you never know. Someone will win $65,000 today in just one hit in an hours time πŸ‘πŸ’° . There you go ! . Some real grass roots participants enjoying a Slot race and getting a quid !! πŸ’° No . Victoria will not call it off because they have to put up $25,000 of the purse. and BOAY would cry 'waste of money' ( actually there's a sponsor helping out as well with that) But wow . !!! how good . horses and people we never heard of EMBRACING the excellent Slot race Concept to help a struggling Industry with a 'User Pays Concept'. excellent stuff. I'm glad to see Someone enjoying their harness slots operating in the true Community manner . congratulations BIRCHIP with the 'Running of the Bulls' More progress for the sport like NZ has done , with the Velocity and Ascent and TAB trot and Betcha race. ( unless you think it's a 'disgrace' and waste of money' that is ,lol πŸ˜‰)
  6. I see that now. Final Deadline racing and winning twice at Addington a year ago in April for T.Bagrie racing as DEADLINE. so as a late entry into the New Zealand race winners slot you give away the win.😎 The Galah with the 'NZ race winners Slot' πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ now Declared the BOAY Slot winner πŸ† .on 66 points. well picked Mr Galah !! πŸ†. The fine NZ horses were great all night , culminating with the stunning Win by Captain's Mistress. Grimson team a 'good' 2nd lol.πŸ‘πŸ˜‰ well done Blackie πŸ‡ The JANITOR (by Always B Miki) is also bred in NZ but didn't race or win there . He might do soon though in the Cambridge Slot race by Betcha next month. will be hard against Leap To Fame though.
  7. The Final Race . Chariots of Fire. Captains Mistress the half sister of Merlin is just too good. A easy win for Grimson and driver Hart. (and Blackie) The Galah and Blackie pick up 10 points each to finish the night and $21 . Sanderson gets the fine Queenland horse FINAL DEADLINE hone 2nd and scores $24 . HESITATE was 4th for Brodie, Chief and McCarthy. 5th for Brodie with Double Lou too, completely boxed in. (2pts) FINAL POINTS POINTS after Race 7 in the BOAY SLOT race challenge Blackie 60 Points, The Galah 58 points , Gamma 42 points , Brodie 24 points , Chief 14 points, Dollars earned comp. Blackie $142 , The Galah $139, Gammalite $138, Brodie $31, Chief Stipe $12 πŸ’° Blackie Squeaks out a very GRIM Win , by a very shallow margin from Slot/ NEW ZEALANDers and Slot QLDers. Blackie getting a bit lucky πŸ˜‰ with Fire and Passion beaten a nose right on the line costing me the Quaddie and the Dollars earned comp for the Queenslanders , all in one go . rats . πŸ™„πŸ˜Ž Great to see the Amazing Queensland and NZ horses putting up so many Sub 1.50 times tonight in impressive style. Will be interesting to see if Grimson game enough to take on The JANITOR and LTF and the Don Hugo with his good mare Captains Mistress ? , after her fine win tonight.
  8. The JANITOR. well he cleans them Up !! go the mighty Queenslander. in the second last comp race just finished. Pete McMullen 'sweeps' and swoops down the outside to spoil the Grimson Swayzee party . Swayzee pretty game in that for Blackie sitting parked out and toughing it well. Pinseeker nowhere for NZ , but RAKERO ROCKET does hold 3rd that is 6 points for the Galah. (+$13) with Swayzee and Rakero Rocket getting places Blackie and the GRIM SLOT 1/ collect 14 points and $35 Gamma lapping up a 10 pointer in that race, for the Queensland BOAY Slot and a cool $73 . πŸ’ͺπŸ’° one more races to go The Chariots of Fire . POINTS after Race 6 in the BOAY SLOT race challenge Blackie 50 Points, The Galah 48 points , Gamma 34 points , Brodie 18 points , Chief 10 points, Dollars earned comp. Blackie $121 , The Galah $118, Gammalite $114, Brodie $31, and old boy Chief $12 πŸ’°
  9. Whatta performance that was. πŸ† Leap To Fame parking up .Against those fast horses . and still winning in 1.48. Race 5 A Miracle Mile Qualifier sees the mighty Queenslander through to another crack at the Biggest race next Sat. Same Quinella as the SLOT race at Cambridge 2025 too. with CHase a Dream closing late for neck 2nd doing NZ proud once again. Nearly the same Trifecta but DON HUGO got 3rd tonight ( after 4th at Cambridge) 14 points for Gamma in the BOAY slot race with 1st and 4th. SPEAK THE TRUTH closing very well lately on is a SUPER horse too. Just never has a good driver. $29 for Larry earnings tonight. The New Zealand Slot rocks on with CHASE A DREAM scoring 8 points for the Galah and $24 Team SLOT 1/ GRIMSON missed with Hi MaNameisJeff but score points with Chase A Dream for Blackie. also $24. and Chief in 3rd with the 'DON' 6 points and $12 for team Slot McCarthy. POINTS after Race 5 in the BOAY SLOT race challenge The Galah 42 points , Blackie 36 points, Gamma 24 points , Brodie 18 points , Chief 10 points, Dollars earned comp. The Galah $105, Blackie $86, Gammalite $41, Brodie $31, and old boy Chief $12 πŸ’°
  10. Heat 3 of the Derby and the New Zealand and Grimson teams Strike again. Paul Borg probably paid a fortune for ZEUS LIGHTNING after his good Sires Stakes 5th at Addington last November. A very nice horse winning by lengths for Grimson , driver Cam Hart and BOAY slotties Galah and Blackie. The 2 x Michael Stanley runners were 3rd and 4th. FUGITIVE just sort of a battling 4th. Will be touch and go if he qualifies for next weeks BIG Derby Final. The Galah picking up 14 points in that one with ZEUS and FUGITIVE doing the NZ horses proud. +$25 collect Blackie in with 10 as well (+$25) , and Gamma got just 2pts with the Queenslander fading to 5th for McMullen. POINTS after Race 4 in the BOAY SLOT race challenge The Galah 34 points , Blackie 28 points, Brodie 18 points, Gamma 10 points , Chief 4 points, Dollars earned comp. The Galah $81 , Blackie $62, Brodie $31 , Gamma $12, and Chief 0 πŸ’°
  11. Its Michael Stanley again. and the bugger pips the QLDer of Dixon's by a nose at the line and takes my multi's with it πŸ™„ . SOHO CHARMER by a nose from FIRE and PASSION the QLDer in Heat 2 of NSW Derby. Anyway its 8 points to Gamma for 2nd and $12. and Brodie in 3rd with last start winner YOTTIE so picks up 6 points and $19 in the divvie comp. POINTS after Race 3 in the BOAY SLOT race challenge The Galah 20 points , Blackie 18 points, Brodie 18 points, Gamma 8 points , Chief 4 points, Dollars earned comp. The Galah $56 , Blackie $37, Brodie $31 , Gamma $12, and Chief 0 πŸ’°
  12. SHOWmeTHEtanLINES and expensive NZ purchase with an awful name gets the money in the first NSW Derby heat. The Galah takes the NZ points and Blackie takes the Grimson Grim points with the same horse. Soho Trump for Michael Stanley and the Brodster gets 6 points in 3rd and a tiny $12 POINTS after Race 2 in the BOAY SLOT race challenge The Galah 20 points , Blackie 18 points, Brodie 12 points, Chief 4 points, Gamma zero. Dollars earned. The Galah $56 , Blackie $37, Brodie $12 , Chief and Gamma 0.
  13. Race 1 hits the line and old NZer KINGMAKER , a winner way back in 2019 at Ashburton and Invercargill in 1.59 takes a Menangle win in 1.49 quite a few years later. Michael Stanley is a fantastic trainer . He has a few Derby runners having a go soon including FUGITIVE from NZ. The Galah picks up 10 points for the New Zealand Slot. and $34 in the divvie comp. to lead both systems after R1. Blackie in 2nd with the Grimson NARANO gets 8 points , and $15 Brodie in 4th and 5th with Captain Bellasario (4) and I Break The Line (2) is on 6 points from those two runners. Chief also on the Luke McCarthy trained CAPTAIN BELLASARIO is on 4 points Gamma zero.
  14. A great night of Harness action about to go after all that great action at Ellerslie and Randwick. The lights are on At Menangle . not sure with New Zealand ?? πŸ˜‰ most have left and might switch them off. and slots are drawn. SLOT 1 / BLACKIE going for the speedy on course trainer Jason Grimson . to win more than Just the Chariots of Fire. SLOT 2 / CHIEF the best man of the BOA pack is in with the LUKE MCCarthy Slot. Luke being the OZ Best harness man SLOT 3 / The NEW ZEALANDER slot . to THE GALAH to cheer on the great kiwi horses racing tonight , that have all won in NZ , and are shining the light for the world to see. SLOT 4 / GAMMA goes into battle with an undermanned Queensland squad , but there's some nice ones running. SLOT 5 / BRODIE can get on the money , when his team of Last start Winners , tries to Double Down with another victory tonight. TIPS/ i'm tipping Brodie to surprise the BIG players with a Win tonight , for the SLOT 5 power horses. I'll score a points system ( for where your horse places ) and a DIvvie System as well. Because you blokes like a punt Best of Luck to your SLOT runners !!! race 1 about to go.
  15. yes the NZ stock is great. The racing there is Not consistent . you need regular week to week racing like Mildura, Redcliffe, Hobart, Penrith and a heap of other locations just to Break even by winning 4 Races per year. The West Australia famous HALL and BOND stables have been buying horses from Southland for years and years Peter. Probably 1000 horses by now. I'm theMightyQuinn probably the best. they're still buying now. Pete McMullens owner bought top slot trotter GUS from down there at Nathan Williamsons in recent years too. Boots raced Captains Mistress out of Nathans as well. Tonight she'll win the Chariots of Fire and be a star of all time. Unfortunately Nathan was going to win a Group 1 at Auckland with her but his sulky' fell apart 100m from the line. Probably the worst bit of BAD LUCK I've ever seen in the Sport. (Hope Nathan has mended from Injury) Village Kid and Lightning Blue went on to be Interdominion Grand Final Champions after being Sold to the Aussies for $40,000 each in the 1980's . I helped bring about 50 horses out of NZ with the South Auckland Standardbred agency and they nearly all went on to win in Australia. NONE of The NZ Owners Had to Sell . They just wanted to. They knew they couldn't compete up in the grades against Roy and Barry , Charlie Hunter ( who would export to USA) and in the south DerekJones , Smolenski, Butt family, Dunn and Dalgety , etc. they are world class and too good for them. Hence most of the owner trainers are still hacking around out your Sunday meetings on grass or whatever to this day. And always Looking for an Aussie Buyer. thankfully Shannon and Boots at the yearlings sales leave a few horses with NZ trainers these days . Very enterprising men . and ultra successful in life.
  16. All those big time owners lose Brodster. They have that many horses and I do remember you pricing how much it cost to run one. It's not a great option to do solo. I always had partners. And just strove to break even. It was just a bit of fun. even the very top of Seymour, Stonewall and even Boots are all probably well behind in harness as far as dollars spent are concerned. , but make/made their money elsewhere. and their investment in harness is getting them some winners recent years for sure. so are having a great time. yes like you , they are intelligent men , and made their money over the years in various ways. Apologies for the miser reference. I'm sure you always invest in what you enjoy.
  17. Nothing wrong with that. I don't mind the debate with you , and yes things repeat. and it's a vast topic so we're covering plenty of ground. I was just disappointed to see the support (lack thereof) to run the TAB trot , when those great participants were turning up and would be headline Trot News around the Whole world. fantastic. the maiden and any race winners at Weatport , Reefton and Redcliffe and Margate = WON"T. (sadly, but they are just the old participants making a living) To Answer your question in a nutshell again Sustainabilty of the industry relies on these factors. 1 / You need Participants to do the racing. this is fading in NZ because of the age of the fabulous participants. so many have already passed retirement age. 2/ Revenue, you had a gift horse (as did Oz with Ladbrokes and Sportsbet) that want to still take the bets on the sport even though as you accurately say they make the Megabucks from SPORTS Betting. ( I even put my 100 on the footy last night as very limited risk , with only 2 starters. Gold Coast at $1.50 . easier than horses lol πŸ’°πŸ€£ 3/ money is gathered from a lot of sources , and allocated each season . there are about 8 sources including sponsors, Shareholders, Benefactors and more. it's quite complicated and I have had several chats with QR leader David Brick ( who bought the Interdominion Back amidst other things) with brilliant efforts and foresight. 4/ Entain WILL NOT let the harness racing collapse. they're only moderately interested , and as Brodie says Sure , the Stake money will / or might have to drop to levels that Victoria or QLD run at , ( with the same amount of horses in race training ) 5/ The economy is tough. People have large rents and mortgages. of course the betting dollar is gunna drop accordingly . you just can't make it the be-all and end all . Slot races actually have Participant funding. This is what we might have to do in future. Pay to Start your horse . Pay an Acceptance Fee. not just get paid petrol money for running last at meetings and that. they should get nothing and try again next time lol.
  18. take a First 4 in Slot Trot then? as I suggested earlier on this thread then . and spend a lot less. and enjoy the action. EXAMPLE . Last night the Feature FFA at Alexandra Park Race 4 had the 6 starters . a nice number to give All runners a chance of victory. (big fields make it too hard and not worth the drama lol 🀣 1 was completely out of depth . ( A.Butts Drive) so write it off Immeadiately. Just leaves one other to drop out and you get the FIRST 4 , without even having to think much πŸ€£πŸ† so if you drop Little Spike (because just has average driver and average trainer ) and run with the Sport Superstar's of Mark Purdon Herlihy, BarryP , all the Dalgety's and Zac Butcher πŸ’ͺπŸ‘ You collect the FIRST 4 of Better Knuckle Up-Freeze Frame - Jolimont and Rubira. $197 for a $24 box outlay. fantastic. πŸ’° Punting on small fields with TOP horses and TOP drivers is just so easy. πŸ’°πŸ’° money for jam with those great NZ horsemen. and Better class horses. Proven to win you money . Meanwhile The Galah and Brodie will be backing bush ticks and Fleas at Westport that can't run 2 minutes, but somehow you want to lose your money on them ? crazy stuff. and Reefton trot maidens? lol. and getting angry with the starter when their horse gallops again πŸ€£πŸ˜‚. I've tried to do a Menangle thread here for tonight to highlight some Beautiful NZ horses running in the first 7 races. So have tried to show off some beauties in the Derby heats and Miracle Mile qualifiers for you blokes. think my efforts might be in vain though competing against the might of those Westport maidens and hacks ?πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‰ Anyway I tried . at least it pop's some names of some great players/horses tonight on the site for a moment in time. sometimes the Sport is worth enjoying. (not so much in NZ it seems lol πŸ˜πŸ˜…)
  19. The Slot races are hugely funded by the Participants. they buy the slots. The Eureka is with over a Million dollars because of this , and is not considered a disgrace or 'Reckless to the sport. It enables ANYBODY to get involved in a Slot and get involved . we have started a popular 2 yearold one for $1/2 million in Brisbane past 2 years. It's not considered a Waste of funding lol. that's a BOAY thing lol. Reefton Maiden trot more popular ?? according to Galah. that's just head scratching . Don't run features anymore ? your SPORT would collapse and Die . That's why we run features. to attract people with money to still have a Go. Brodie's a miser . he wouldn't buy a yearling lol πŸ˜πŸ˜‰ KEAYANG Zahara is owned by a Syndicate of regular people out in the Bush , not big spending owners at all . Just people having fun with their sport. Australia's feature SLOT race saw ENCIPHER win , and Defeat LEAP To Fame , for a syndicate of regular South Australia Folk
  20. Job of HRNZ. In a nut shell Put on races for the participants . Have races for All class of horses that are in training in All the areas of NZ. Allocate the Stake money available from all sources including Entain , Sponsors and about 8 other ways Funding is gathered . Including Sires Stakes programs , etc. Supply the officials and workers that enforce the rules, and Run the product around the country to make it an exciting and enticing, and SAFE product for all the participants to have a go at. Running the feature races such as The Betcha Race, Velocity, Derbies, Sire Stakes, harness Millions, Golden Gait and many more) are a SURE FIRE Way to attract Big time owners to Buy and Race and Breed Big time Horses and racing. This is Happening SO SUCCESSFULLY , that Aus owners Mick Boots, Dean Shannon , Mrs Fliess, Butterworth's and others regularly compete in NZ , and have horses trained there now. this is Excellent for the industry. Which is keeping good horses and owners racing. HRNZ is Doing this Better than Ever. All these above items are running First Class and better horses and races than all history of over 100 years are being run . Thanks To ENORMOUS EFFORTS by a LOT of people at Entain and HRNZ. and yet BOAY turns on them with no appreciation and says replace the lot .??? or even get rid of the ATC because it is high end owners. hahahaha using up your funding ?? What about the drivers and trainers lol. Westport and other Bush meetings (like on Sundays) are put on as well. as part of the HRNZ funding program. for bigger stakes than they deserve too. because of the great job being done by the HRNZ Computer. Brodie and others think they are better than a Financial Computer so good luck to ya fella's ( you're Not) Stakes are allocated on a annual basis. They adjust to suit the totals available in any one season. Logic . which is more obvious to some than others. BOAY patrons however , SHow their distain for the TAB Slot trot. ??? on this thread. That's Such a shame. Best Trotters on the planet assembled by some amazing folk that organize this stuff. To Show Case our sport for the World. these events are Helping with our (NZ and OZ harness) reputation and Standing on the world Stage ( so we get BIG Time horse owners and breeders like Canadian Mike Tanev and breeder, yearling purchaser Dean Shannon, NZer Stockman , Mick Boots (who has 30 trainers doing horses for him) etc supporting NZ harness mightily ) such an important thing for NZ harness, but you can't see it for the doomsday opinion and constant ridicule of the amazing people at HRNZ that keep it all going.
  21. Brodie gets stuck into them all the time . You don't see well at all Peter. πŸ˜†πŸ˜‰ . Maybe try reading a Few Threads on BOAY . Who do you think ATC and HRNZ are? Brodie quite happy to call them Basket cases on about , oh lets see? hundreds of occasions . It's a bit of a running joke actually. Who do you think works at ATC and HRNZ ? plenty of horse people. People who love the sport. Brodie critical to the max old mate. Completely insults them at their jobs constantly . Are you living under a rock and didn't notice? Alas he Doesn't like Entain helping out either, nor about 50 other things and organisations. I don't have to suggest anything . It's in plain view across several threads. People (including Chief) don't even bother replying to the trots thread anymore with all that crap on it . I wonder why ?? lolπŸ™„πŸ˜‹ What happens when TOUR PARTY is in $100,000 young guns 6 horse field race shortly as $1.10 favourite. ? should Can the race ? . Waste of money? .It's at the ATC for strters. money could be better used elsewhere? No one can bet on it lol . (should be used for thoroughbreds would be better than you unappreciative lot anyway.) BUT don't Run one of the greatest Trot races ever seen with OscarB , Muscle Mountain, Keayang Zahara , Gus and 3 others , possibly the current Interdominion Champ Arcee Phoenix as well. THATS JUST a DISGRACE PETER. well done Peter well done. recklessness . lol.
  22. ENTAIN are a 'Gift horse' to racing. I don't expect you to understand why . I don't agree with much you say at all actually sorry. I can see you're just total ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT Brodster. anyone in any authority you just can em' It's a bit of a shame for you as you worry too much about stuff that's not real . Like People in WORKING jobs that they're paid to do have No Business sense???. they've been very successful . that doesn't even make sense to start off with . ENtain and HRNZ (for over 100 years) have been very successful companies and employ plenty of fine businessmen and accountants and handicappers and employees that have been successful in Multiple fields of endeavor . I found some of them a pleasure to race horses for like Jim McNeil and Chris Garrard and Alistair Cox NZ and John Devlin NZ . I feel privileged to know such great people that are involved in harness and raced their horses for them. The horsemen themselves ? well that's just Best on the Planet Level Brodster. I feel like i'm at the top of EVEREST like Sir Edmund Hilary, watching them go . amazing stuff they do these days. Reading this BOAY forum is like harness is being abbandoned on Mt Erebus with some DC10 remains. Do you realize this Slot Trot SHOWS oFF NZ and AUS as the Best Trotting trainers and trotters on the Planet.?? A/ you blokes don't. you want to can the race because of a tiny tiny 200-300 k input by HRNZ ?? lol 🀣 One fellow here saying its a disgrace above above ??? . lol whatta a disgrace that is. Keayang Zahara and Gus and Muscle Mountain racing is a disgrace . qeeez mate . what is wrong with the world . better off firing missiles I spose. Chief puts at the top of the page BOAY : New Zealand s Premium Pro Racing Forum. Re-name it Chief!!!! . BOAY: New Zealand s Premium ANTI-Racing Forum .
  23. It's not the Entain money that will 'Stop' the industry . They are the one's propping it up with spare back pocket cash at the moment. NZ and Australia. blatant mismanagement is JUST Not Correct. they're helping out in hour of need. And as The Galah correctly says , SPortsBetting is the go these days for them , and horse racing is just like a side dessert if you like , that they don't really need. It's a TWILIGHT industry . NZ especially has TWILIGHT participants. I can't believe Ricky May coming back again , nor Barry Purdon the other day. Dr Chin . really ? who's gunna lose money betting on them ? not you or I. didn't get enough youngsters involved is the HUUUGEE knife in the back for NZ harness. I agree Fully with you Brodster that the mile racing and smaller field's are quite boring. commonly run in Aus every day of the week. and you have advocating keeping them to a minimum in NZ as a spectacle or a Betting prospect. NZ has a GREAT VAriety of RACES put on by HRNZ 9cmpared to Aus) and Caters for All their participants. THE PARTICIPANTS are just as Important as the Punters to keep it going. No Participants = No Racing = You're washed Up. ENTAIN and HRNZ are handling it to keep it going. And you know this. you're just being mean really not appreciating the efforts . we'll lose heaps on the Interdominion but you still need these Pinnalcle events to keep people like Seymour interested ( as well as all the 5 day to day meetings we run each and every week. HRNZ does it better than all our OZ states , except NSW HR which look after their participants magnificently across the board and hopefully at a profit. For your tiny HRNZ industry the results achieved are Just amazing really. fancy people grizzling they put in 200-300 thousand ( a pittance to Entain) to run the feature Slot TROT of Australasia? , of the world nearly? . with some of the world's best trotters EVER SEEN , yet this thread says Call it off ?????????????????. I give up mate. It's like calling off the Olympics 100m because BOLT was too fast for them . πŸ€£πŸ˜†. forget the spectacle πŸ˜‰
  24. they could spend it on thoroughbreds I spose. πŸ™„ But that would be no no no good to ya. and harness racing NZ. Thankfully Ladbrokes put on QLD racing (Ladbrokes is a subsidiary of Entain) and we don't bet much on the 'Boring' racing here. the fields are too even with the rating system. It's just 500-600 participants making a living virtually. So even though QLD harness is running at a betting loss we still use the ENtain money to run the Interdominion each Winter and a whole host of Group 1' s (just in July and Dec as that's the budget we have) . the 2 Interdominions are worth $1.5 million between them . BUT WE don't say DISGRACE and WASTE of FUNDING , even though the whole lot is funded by Queensland racing (and not the participants like the slot races) just because in ALL likelihood LEAP TO FAME and KKEAYANG ZAHARA will Win the 2 Interdominions and will Stifle the betting. We have the races Still !! and enjoy and Don't call it a disgrace or Recklessness . a bit like the progressive HRNZ introducing the great slot racing to Addington past 2 years as well to really sell the great harness product. I guess it's in the approach you have as a doomsayer . how's your Bunker going. get it as deep as Brodie yet πŸ˜‹
  25. Well they're just preparing for some fabulous Autumn racing . Here's the article. Track All done up with new surface ready to go. Plenty of Group racing. Gunna be epic !! hope you enjoy. Only one kiwi tackling the Miracle Mile qualifiers this week ? . PINSEEKER with Jonny Cox . The same bloke who was the only one Brave enough to go to the Interdominion last year ( Chapman's did send their Pacer to McCarthy to have a go thought. Beach Ball . so credit to them too for having a go too) So should be plenty of horses in NZ harness racing to cheer on next few weeks . Messenger, Taylor Mile and that . Choc's and Marketplace and Rubira clashes. gunna be a ripper. It's the first time the track has been re-surfaced since 2023 when major flooding prompted a complete reconstuction. "I am very grateful to the Auckland Trotting Club and Red Contracting for their help in getting the job done so efficiently," says Denton. Alexandra Park's meeting tomorrow night kick-starts the new Northern Lights Autumn Carnival which will see 13 Group 1s and nearly $5m in feature race stakes on offer between March and May at the Park and Cambridge Raceway.
