haha you should of been around town in the 90's . but the drivers are more 'super tuned' nowadays to the horses ability. and drive them accordingly. to super high standards. esp NZ . as the opportunities for horse and driver are slightly less in Number of races, and when they do compete there's usually some real good ones driving against you . in Aus they go go round quite a few times per week each so the errors are very quickly forgotten with the next Win right around the corner. Like the young and old Oranges or young and old Hacketts for example amongst many π€£π. seriously very good drivers . A real Credit to the nation . of course with the young Dunn and Aussie Todd conquering the American landscape as well. Is good you still put on some Amateur races for us to have a bit of a laugh on the threads I spose. π. need someone to make some mistakes to keep us all entertained at BOAY , and they fit that billing well . ππ is some classic stuff.

I didn't say Close them down. Perhaps a stock standard Fine? . $400,000,000 Austrac fine, is proving too much for Star Entertainment to Cope with currently. they want it reduced to $100,000,000 to survive. ENTAIN have joined in doing the same stuff . (criminal activity NEVER bloody ceases) and yes I guess a lot of Banks are holding their 'proceeds' from Drugs and what not. They should just bury cash in drums in the ground like Pablo Escobar lol π€£π€£. it's such a delimma for crime organisations these days. they don't use Cash as much anymore at a lot of places. The Gambling institutes suddenly look VERY appealing lol. Off shore betting companies like Entain are great for moving a bit of the 'Lolly' lol . ENTAIN would have a lot more than the named dodgey 17 customers for sure and certain. But they won't tell you That. there's a lot of sand shovelling going on π Perhaps they (Austrac anti-laundering ) should stick to the $400,000,000 Fine ? if you're saying the TABcorp one was just chickenfeed at $45 mill And be a little bit of a detterent to a billion dollar organisation like Entain ? . would try and make them keep 'clean ' books at least, even when everyone knows what is really going on under the table.

Yes it was great having a trotting man as the helm of the Entain venture. And yes , with 17 horses including Merlin , having races for his horses is nice too. I wouldn't begrudge him that. afterall , other people can enter the races. and I think someone at HRNZ is the main Set-up person for Feature racing and schemes anyway , ahead of the Entain Rep . Mr Shannon may have had some suggestions though. He has had horses for decades (had 70 at one part of the 90's with his wife partner) so knows what sort of things might have helped a Breeder/owner/ racer I think if the 2 year old bonus scheme has failed you, then they will just try something else? . Currently QLD has a FIRST WIN bonus of $10k for any QLD bred horses that wins it's first race anywhere in QLD. I know a few blokes with fairly slow horses who tried desperately for it and some did !! excellent. π maybe NZ will try something like that for it's territory soon? We Still have the Australian Pacing Gold series. Any horse sold through that APG Yearling Sales around the nation, can compete in the heats and rich finals. Some states only get a handful of the graduates running and there have even been 2 horse 2 year old heats on occasion. It's just one of those things. At least the owner gets some money for sure (if he can get his horse to the races) Sires Stakes racing is Important . and each state and NZ still invest heavily into that. To encourage the New Generation each year ( like displayed so awesomely by Marketplace last year ) and the 'Choc's and Rubira in the heats. You really need BIG prize 2 year old racing to get the new ones racing (owners and trainers motivated)

Te Akau secure South Island Trainersβ Premiership
Gammalite replied to jess's topic in Galloping Chat
Never said a thing about it . You just didn't seem to know what a satellite stable was so was trying to help out. You want to call them all Main bases . good for you. NO , i'm not suggesting Wallers name can't be used in QLD. Any horse in a trainers name , is receiving training Fees PAID to that trainer , so if it wins , in NSW , NI, SI, Zimbabwe then it's a Win counted for that trainer. I'm fine with that. I did say he trains by computer. so that is modern enough for me. I must say we had a very unusual event when Mick Boots ( Swayzee owner) when he sent his NZ Oaks fav filly Captain's Mistress to try and win the QLD Oaks last month .she ran 3rd. But the horse was put in Grant Dixon name as Trainer , even though Nathan Williamson his NZ trainer was here and racing her in his NZ colours. was weird as f.uck. Am sure Grant didn't need 'another' win for the Premiership or anything.? and he probably had ZERO input on that horses training for it's month stay in QLD. Mark and Nathan Purdon and Jonny Cox too , were here for a month for the carnival as well , and their horse stayed in their names training while staying at QLD trainer properties. as is usually the case with NZ trainers. Not sure at all what the deal with Captains Mistress was. I actually hoped it would get beat because that would of been a fraud GROUP 1 win to Grant , without even earning it. He does work extremely hard 7 days a week with a large team though. 80 is a lot for a harness trainer. they ALL do an extreme amount of Hands on work. Just 4 of us trotting blokes did 20 horses for 6 years straight once. (including finishing at midnight 3 days per week when you got them off the truck back home after a meet) so galloping training and trainers make me laugh in comparison. Training 100's by Computer/Facebook lol π€£ -
You know Chief that's the bit I don't get. If they are so rich (allegedly with some from the proceeds of crime) they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. Some get too big for their boots . Good on AUSTRAC trying to Not let them profit from crime laundering . So with $45 mill being 'small change' then the Investment in NZ racing must be fairly small change then. 100 mill odd. So QA/ why is Brodie saying the funding will stop ? at 5 years ? and B/ why is Brodie constantly forever criticising the HRNZ and its officials for poor performance ? , when they are distributing this supposed 'Loose Change' to the fine participants of New Zealand harness racing ? Why Not be enthused. ? ( I think Auckland should have 100 race days myself ) race every Tuesday for low stakes with slower horses so everyone gets a winner across 50 days, but you have to have triple the stakes every Friday for Metro City horses for another 50 dates , so the richer blokes like Telfers and the two Purdon's mobs etc race. This would ENCOURAGE MORE PARTICIPATION , which is what you are lacking at the moment. Horses could have 'Graduations' from the Tuesday racing to the metro racing. (we call them Quallies ) and is the right way to go. HRNZ need me as NI Handicapper lol π . i'd sort em' out in No time. π and have some great regular racing for All grades. Not cancellations like yesterday. It is WINTER though. just 4 weeks and the Spring racing is ON . some of the blokes that constantly grizzle on harness forums like big babies might even enjoy the racing then . ( 'might' but don't hold your breathe ) I've never seen so many people bagging the product like you get in NZ. you see none of that in Australia. We have an extra 20% increase in NZ race dates this season (year) . surely this is an excellent thing ? , and MANY more Participants are getting race starts, AND IMPORTANTLY , in a Race that they CAN win. a big chunk of QLD horses start around 40 times per year. to return a profit for owners. This is what NZ should be aiming to accommodate too. horses NOT winning or sitting at home in Stalls and paddocks is just a Waste.?π€ here's some when they made the deals. to do with the Dates Calendar which looks great. Harness Racing New Zealand has today unveiled a significantly revamped calendar for the 2024/25 season which it says is designed to deliver more racing opportunities for industry stakeholders and punters alike. βIn particular, it has allowed us to take a fresh look at our racing calendar, to identify opportunities for growth, and to weave initiatives through it to get horses racing and to keep them racing. This new calendar is the first step in a joint plan to revitalise harness racing, much as we have seen with thoroughbred racing,β

I fail to see how the outcome could possibly have any impact on NZ racing? These 2 comments above today are very Curious. you live up to your name and contradict yourself. The impact of the Federal case is already effecting NZ with the CEO who helped set up the NZ Entain deal , leaving the position recently on June 30th. Only 2 years from June 2023 when the deal was activated. Shannon's knowledge of the betting Industry and the racing industry in particular is absolutely huge. and will be missed .trotting will be doomed anyway. There is an interim CEO in place Andrew Vouris. I think there will be impact at some stage. the changing of the guard so quickly will tell the story shortly . Vouris is a former TABCORP executive so should have a fair handle on the situation .π Afterall he was deputy CEO at TABCORP when they were dragged over the coals in 2017 by Austrac in the Federal Court , for this money laundering that All these betting companies do for these BIG punters. just PAR for the course it seems. TABCORP ended up getting fined a Australian record highest ever civil Penalty of $45,000,000 for the breaches. Mr Vouris an experienced hand at it π€£

ENTAINS response to AUSTRAC 31 March 2025 regarding AML issues.
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
That is a lot of money. I think money laundering is an extremely bad offence. It just helps organized crime in a lot of sectors that causes a Lot of Public suffering . the Tabacco War is getting Really Bad in Aus. They're starting to kill each other now for example. is very sad. But a Federal court is a Federal court. The bloke that Rob's a bank and gets away with $1000 π°. doesn't he get sentence that is the same as the bloke who got caught fleecing the bank of $100,000 ? π°π°π° can't see why you think Entain facilitating a few is ok and Star quite a few more , but essentially doing the same thing is so different and not note-worthy. . Personally the way they are processing the ELEVEN executives and Directors who were dismissed from 'Star' , will be the same as what happens to the poor smucks at the ENtain set-up who lost their positions , when the going gets tough. They try to deflect blame onto the ' few' . Hope they catch the 'right Few' is all you can do I spose. plenty of Accomplices involved lol ππ° -
ENTAINS response to AUSTRAC 31 March 2025 regarding AML issues.
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Wouldn't have a clue what you know and what you don't. just discussing an important topic. I'm just saying Federal Court Proceedings are a serious Offence . and you and Chief can downplay it all you like. But the Fact remains Several Executives and Directors, like my friend Dean Shannon who was the NZ -Aus CEO have had to leave their positions. I find that quite serious. The charges are quite serious and 'STAR Entertainment ' in Australia faced the same charges , Are still going through Federal court proceedings from 2022 , and they are Struggling Big Time . ( as I highlighted on a harness thread today) So If ENTAIN can 'mediate' their way out of it , good luck to their lawyers. Dean Shannon was out the door on June 30th this year so don't think the Mediation going 'that great ' so far . (in our NZ Aus area) Heres the AML report. On 16 December 2024, AUSTRAC imposed civil penalty proceedings on Entain Group Pty Ltd, which operates online betting sites including Ladbrokes, Neds and other online betting brands. The proceedings allege Entain of serious and systematic non-compliance with Australiaβs AML/CTF laws. Entain Group β A Global Gambling and Gaming Leader Entain plc has a headquarter in the UK, an FTSE 100 constituent, and is the worldβs largest gaming group and sports betting company. This group also includes technology and expands its services to third-party customers on a B2B basis & B2C operations. Entain provides technological capabilities, infrastructure, games, and products developed by in-house gaming studios to support BetMGM. Itβs a famous player in the U.S. sports iGaming & betting market. Entain is the global operator of regulated markets and has an online and physical presence in approximately 30 territories. Not to forget, itβs a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and FTSE4Good Index and has an AA rating from MSCI. 4 Reasons Why Entain Group is in Red Light AUSTRACβs allegation against the Entain Group is based on the following AML/CTF failures: Entainsβs board of senior management could not keep appropriate oversight of its AML/CTF program, which in turn interfered with the ability to identify money laundering-related exploitation of their betting sites. Entain operates 24/7 via websites and apps, which are already vulnerable to exploitation. It further worsened when unknown people, including third-party providers, were able to access and use Entainβs platform. Even worse? Third parties could accept cash and other deposits on behalf of Entain to be credited into betting accounts in ways that fade out the proceeds of the crime. The company did not have appropriate measures in place to confirm the identity of customers making deposits, nor the measure to confirm the source of the money. Entain failed to conduct a proper check on 17 high-risk individuals and was indifferent to the fact that their online betting sites are being exploited by criminals to spend the proceeds of serious crimes. Note: AUSTRAC also mentioned that β This includes allegations that Entain deliberately obscured the identity of some high-risk customers, on its own systems, through the use of pseudonyms to βprotect their privacyβ. Shares of Entain dropped by 5.5% in early trading, which coincided with the existing crackdown by Australian authorities on the gambling sector. In response to alleged AML/CFT failures highlighted by AUSTRAC, Entertainβs CEO Gavin Issacs warned investors of a potentially hefty penalty from legal proceedings. Violations can result in fines of up to A$22.2 million ($14.14 million) per infraction under Australiaβs -
ENTAINS response to AUSTRAC 31 March 2025 regarding AML issues.
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Pretty Generic Chief. Any company charged with something are going to show they are 'Co-operating ' with authorities. AND that they will be 'Changing things to be compliant' Expect nothing less from any Company. The Fact is that Laws have been broken and Penalties usually ensue thereafter. Maybe they will try the 'Star Entertainment ' route of processing the 'Former' many resigned executives and directors One by One. ? seems the way they are doing it slowly with the Star Case at Federal court anyway. -
Did Entain not buy up the NZ TAB ? the revenue is what funds racing is what I'm told. If they faced a huge fine maybe they would want to get out of the 25 year deal/ takeover plan ?? Brodie keeps saying the funding for the trots stops at 5 years for some reason ? If the ENTAIN owned Betting Agency group of 'Ladbrokes' did not fund Queensland Trotting we would Fold for sure.
-
true. otherwise they wouldn't be able to function would they ? if 'easy to Ascertain'. $152m is chicken feed. In the Crown case there was ONE individual turning over more than the NZ TAB turns over in total!!! Yes the Star Entertainment case involved about over 100 different customers in question , so that is more than the 17 that have bought ENTAIN into disrepute. So you say if you take proceeds from 17 crimes its different to 100 ?? shouldn't be . it's the same offence. Currently 11 'Former' Directors and executives of Star Entertainment are being 'Processed' One by One , and of course are serving sentences of varied fines and terms of disqualification from Managing Corporations. No doubt this will happen with the Entain Directors as well from all those 'resignations'. But the Company itself will face a Fine sooner or later . STAR Entertainment are fighting the $400,000,000 proposed fine. 100,000,000 is target. Currently they are trying to offload assets to get by . They failed to sell the brand new Brisbane Queens Wharf development so owe investors 40 million just this month alone π. Operating cost for star are off the scale with $27,000,000 Loss every quarter at the moment. hows this for a Drop off Chief ?? The quarter ending June 30 this year saw 'Star' get $270,000,000 Revenue. and the same quarter last year was $393,000,000. π€£π they're really missing those 100 'dodgey' investors lol . I hope you're right and 'ENTAIN' has a better outcome though. For NZ's gambling/racing sake.

Te Akau secure South Island Trainersβ Premiership
Gammalite replied to jess's topic in Galloping Chat
you know what a Satellite stable is Chief. π It's where horses are based on behalf of a Non-Attending NAMED Horse trainer for those horses. For example s : Young Jacob Dunn does all the work with a few horses in the North Island for the named Dunn stable Title of 'Robert and Jenna Dunn'. therefore he (Jacob) operates a Satellite stable for that operation. Chris Waller has a Permanant thoroughbred base in Queensland. He trains it/them by computer . who knows who does the REAL hands on work, but it's a 'Satellite Stable' for Waller. he's not in physical attendance (much at all) being based in Sydney of course. If the Named Te Akau trainers are Not In Attendance with any frequency, at the South Island unit, that makes it a satellite stable. simple. -
seems like the same charges Chief. ENTAIN doing exactly what Star Entertainment did . You Cannot take Bets from known Criminal organisations to 'Move their Proceeds of crime' ENTAIN have had more than just our great trotting man Dean resign. there's a few. This All sounds VERY serious. Sorry I didn't see what you discussed on Gallops thread . But here's something for the Trotting blokes to chew on. Brodster said ENTAIN would be the death of NZ racing . certainly they are sticking some dynamite around anyway. here's a snippet from earlier in the year from the guardian The deputy chief executive officer of one of the biggest gambling companies in Australia, Entain, has resigned in the midst of a high-profile legal challenge by the nationβs financial intelligence agency. Lachlan Fitt has served as the chief financial officer of Entain Australia, which runs the Ladbrokes and Neds gambling brands in Australia, since 2018, and has driven the companyβs mergers and acquisitions strategy. The managing director of Entain NZ, Cameron Rodger, has also resigned, just one week after the global chief executive, Gavin Isaacs, left the company with immediate effect The resignations come at a delicate time for the global gambling giant, which was taken to the federal court by Australiaβs financial intelligence agency (Austrac) in December. Austrac alleges Entain committed βserious and systemic non-compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing lawsβ. Austrac accused Entain of accepting $152m in bets from 17 high-risk customers who had βsuspected criminal profiles and associationsβ despite being aware they may have been laundering money, federal court documents allege.
-
I hope you're right Chief. BUT to go to Federal Court is Very Serious indeed. ENTAIN are charged with Serious and Systemic NON Compliance with anti- money laundering financing laws. The Entain share price is heading Downwards mate. be like a car off a cliff shortly. Dean Shannon is a TOP bloke that I knew racing harness horses. He would of been SCRAMBLING for the Door Chief , with all the Entain case about to happen. His involvement is unknown , but the CEO generally takes the Fall first when a company is on the ropes. He should just return to QLD and race his trotters I reckon. Take Seymour on ππ and keep out of those Federal Courts.

Te Akau secure South Island Trainersβ Premiership
Gammalite replied to jess's topic in Galloping Chat
Seems to me it's Pitman stable who are missing out if they are a NZ leading stable. In the trotting circles of light the 2 leading NZ barns of Dunns and Telfers compete very strongly out of Satellite Stables in the North Island for many wins , as well as maintaining their Strong South Island Base. Te Akau seem to perform well in the South with a it's wins from the Satellite stable there. so good on em'. Maybe the Young Pitman should set up in the North Island a team ? and leave dad to manage the South team? and get some of the good prize money on offer there with a Satellite Stable. He could enjoy the Better weather too π than the freezing old South, and take it up to Te Akau on their 'Own Turf' . even go right handed on occasion π -
Not sure if they do everything correctly though. Dean Shannon , a great trotting investor man for decades, was 'Shown the Door' at the end of June as Entain are still in Money Laundering issues that see them in Federal court at the moment. Dean was at the helm for 7 years odd as the Aus -NZ head CEO of the Entain operation. NOTE One of the big Casino set up in Australia 'Star Entertainment ' have an impending $400,000,000 fine attempting to be put on them by the Crime watchdog AUSTRAC for laundering tens of millions through 2022 . AUSTRAC are currently chasing ENTAIN in the courts , so not looking too rosy for them in near future . Shannonβs departure comes as Entain Australia reaches the pointy end of its own legal fight with AUSTRAC, taken to Federal Court over alleged breaches of βserious non-compliance with Australiaβs money laundering laws.β
-
!00% agree with that Brodster. ENTAIN have had issues all around the planet with swallowing up Betting agency rivals and All sorts of stuff , and Horse racing is only a Low key player in their Grand Scheme of taking all the gambling dollars they possibly can off all the people's. Queensland trotting isn't just run by Seymour , it is also 'Ladbrokes' that run the show , and put up the dollars here. They are owned by ENTAIN of course. QLD trotting would cease without the Ladbrokes support. ( bit like your NZ Entain support I spose) You guys have rightly pointed out to me the turnover is a significant Factor in whether harness racing continues, and the interest of this JUGGERNAUT company to keep it going. I'm convinced , I have only tried to 'Fight back ' suggesting good old sponsors like Garrards , and Seymours could chip in to keep some racing going. Some good slot races and that sort of thing. Seymour has Finanacially backed South Australia harness to keep it going this year. otherwise it was doomed. Victoria are hundreds of thousands in debt, as Have the same Harness People and horses population of New Zealand. which means it needs a LOT of meetings . they race for very low stakes mainly in their country areas. Currently negotiating with Moonee Valley to return there 2027 when the renovation is complete, in a last ditch effort to stay afloat. I think they will FAIL in that bid though. Racing people hate trotting. The Queensland country trots all closed years ago . Like the North Island country did . ( Hutt Park , New Plymouth and that ) You guys All want the North Island City racing to close too. Auckland trots . been going since 1912 at Alexandra Park . seems sad , but those participants have had a good run for decades. Bernie, Tony, Barry , Butchers and that. They can enjoy retirement on the beach somewhere hopefully. So you're Right in the END . They cancelled Waikato tomorrow , so they've had the dick mate. And I might now join your chorus of Shut them down Altogeather . they've had enough wins over the years (with Roy and Wolfie now deceased too , at least they can't see the demise of the North) so that's something good anyway . 100 years of tradition finished . give the remaining dollars to the South Island then ? . before it collapses too. One cancelled meeting can Only lead to more . So you guys Win . it's nearly all Over Rover π.
-
I think what you forget Brodster is When Sponsors and Supporters of a sport PUT up there Cash to support or sponsor a race or an Event, there are TIME LIMITS involved. It's like a footballer Contract . you Pay up so much cash spread out over the Calculated time frame of a contract. I would suggest that the ENTAIN money is being used by professional people for the 250 odd NZ meeting per year , at a rate that is calculated within a time Period. i.e so much has to be allocated Annually. it's how business works. I agree with you that sure it would be nice to think you calculate monies/funding/sponsorships for 2030 and beyond , BUT You can't mate. You have to live in the moment . AND all you blokes keep saying the turnover has dropped off , and trotting won't be around in the North Island in 5 years time anyway , old Maurice, Barry, Tony , Ray Green, And a few others will be retired. And Trotting will BE NO MORE. you will all just have to go to the gallops lol ππ So Might as well use The MONEY now mate. I do think it's a shame most of it, is going to Aussie these days from the Big races , as that is only speeding up the Ultimate demise of NZ Harness Racing . you don't have the guts of Seymour or anyone like that to keep it going. Must say Dean Shannon and also the Stonewall bloke (Stockman and his partner Jill ) are doing their Very best at Sales and punting and Racing syndicating with your great trainers to Keep it going a year or two longer. so Big shout out to them for meritous efforts lately. good to see some still 'Having a Go ' at the great sport.
-
Well they still use the whip as cue for the horse to go I think Chief . Swishing it around the tail and that without having to strike at all anymore these days. the Top Notch drivers do it incredibly well. The Nz and Aus drivers are absolutely masterful at it. esp ones with American experience like Dexter Dunn and Carter Dalgety. We have Cam Hart (winner of the last 2 NZ Cups), the 3 McCarthy brothers and even Pete mcMullen driving like that too. Absolute Top of the tree drivers who get every Horse they drive to perform better than it would without the technique these blokes use. they are near best in the world at their craft. They would run rings around the whip drivers of last century, as can get a tiring horse to keep going better (faster sectionals ) than any drivers of the past could. and can do it on a range of horses. John Dunn looks excellent to me as well , as can really get a horse to stretch out.
-
well they don't run it as a fish and chips shop mate .and hope customers 'roll up for a feed at random. of course they run it as it is a business. you're just so used to sinking the boot in , you can't help yourself. The HRNZ have done an Outstanding Job in recent years , and possibly returns a profit , where-as a lot of Aussie states run at a loss. HRNZ have even put fabulous races on that the Aussies have been plundering for the past 3 years now , which is probably a bad thing , as the monies are all going overseas. A Victim of it's own success ? π π. there are better prizes than ever up for grabs in VERY trying times for the average household. A sign HRNZ have outstanding staff and business acumen ( it's you that doesn't π ) Horse Racing Is ON THE NOSE of the general public mate. I'll give you an example . The Melbourne Cup . A huge Australian Tradition, part of the development fabric of the nation, on the World Stage even . BUT in the past 20 years it's gone from 80% public interested to 2024 ONLY 20% of the nation recognizing the race was even being run. Horse Racing is FADING mate. so APPLAUD the efforts of your country mates at HRNZ . They've done a Sterling job in the face of Adversity ( adversity being the public acceptance of horse racing in 2025) I saw LEAP TO FAME . the Best horses ever Australasia. Win at Cambridge ??? who would of thought that possible 5 years ago. and Arcee Phoenix , the INTERDOMINION Champion , has won at Cambridge and raced Addington. Never thought I would see such sensational racing in my lifetime . We OWE HRNZ much thanks for this sort of stuff. HRNZ doing an Outstanding job. Getting the best in the World at their tracks . And you still complain about them.π€ Nothing makes you guys happy. No Government could do it . no race club can do it either π π€£. I say WELL done HRNZ . Champions in a world of pain. Keep up the amazing work and See ya Cup week !!!! π for more outstanding racing .
-
always been the case. Galloping juggernauts like Waller and Te Akau have had positive swabs even ( as did Dunn's in harness) but all get off with fines , where as 'Small time Bloke' like Jack Trainor or Darrel Graham for example it's just a 'See you in 18 months' lol. π and exactly right . These are the reasons the sport is dying . Of course the HRNZ is trying to look after the current players by dishing out the Stakemoney to keep them going. (some motivation) and yes they are running out of places to train horses too. Does Cullen's have his own establishment yet? and yes just the Millionaires like the Stonewall bloke, Bootsie, Breckons, Shannon and Seymour ,Woodhams , Kennards dominating the landscape for YEARS now, as Money buys Success. they are sweeping nearly all the pool. Didn't leave enough for the little bloke . so they give it away and just race Bush meetings. That is why the Southern Surge and Young Guns Trot , and Golden Gait and more of those sort of things, are vital if you want the 'Bit Players' to get some of the cash too. While the Big players are resting in stable. LET the BIG boys RUMBLE in some Slot races. That's good progress . and good for the sport too. If you're worried about funding? . Don't fund them then . Just let the Slot holders pay $50k each for a slot and race for Half Million Pool. It will come to that one day. HRNZ will have less to fund with declining betting produce (like all around Aus is happening already ) So just run HUGE SLOT race events like Betcha and Velocity and Ascent and TAB trot , because the USER will Pay . and HRNZ are smart to run with the times and put those races on. So will be good . and is happening already. the best horses and the best trainers from 2 nations battling it out for our entertainment ( and their slot holders showing off and bragging and wealthy from it in fine competition) . can't wait for Showday already.!! will be good lead up to the Derbies too. ( Fate Awaits to knock off Rubira and Marketplace ? ππ»)

No doubt. Didn't suggest Handicapping is rosy. It's a very hard job. With reduced numbers of horses to handicap like you are having in NZ, you end up with quite a range all in one race. as you don't have enough races to spread them evenly. Especially for the Fast class in each area in NZ . they have only Very small windows of opportunity. The trotters are doing well there with races put on for them each week North and South so Trotter specialists like Wallis/Hackett, Dr Luk, Nairn and Williamsoms have 'somewhere' to start their horses. thankfully in Brisbane we can run any of our horses 40 times per year. with meetings most days of the week. even the lowest class 30 horses can still get 4 wins each per year and break even in $4- $6k stake races from 40 annual starts. The Handicapper wants NO OWNERS losing money here with their Pride and joy horse. alas in NZ , most owners lose, as you don't have enough races to accommodate them . But hopefully things like the Southern Surge initiative will help remedy that a little bit for some. Well done HRNZ .trying to help yet again the QLD Handicapper can just put a fast class trot each Saturday night for better prizemoney, and run 3 'loose class' trots each Tuesday. in the Pacing Old FFAers like the Grand old kiwi TURN IT UP can win 5 FFA's per year from 20 starts per year and still earn $100,000 per year. even while 10 or 11 years old. excellent stuff. NZ should of followed a similar path . and catered for everyone. But hasn't . Because your top 20 trainers don't send around enough horses lie they used too. they've got quite slack actually ( Telfers and House the exceptions) so your Handicapper is pretty much 'stuck in the mud' , and can just handicap whatever runners you have in NZ that still Turn Up . and it's not many . The state of the economy has a bit to do with it , as well as just having too many AGED PARTICIPANTS bordering on retirement age. Horses are too expensive to run with these fine Horse-people. Dean Shannon (QLD multimillionaire) can afford 17 horses (buying top lots at each sale) with Barry and Scott , but not many others can lol. we are same with Dixon and McMullen with 3 Multimillionaire owners each completely dominating the Group and listed racing. It's surely the sport of Kings. π°ππ» Go the Handicapper !!!! one of the best workers still going . But slam him as well. it's the NZ way π€£

It seems the funding will change , as it always does , as time progresses. But as always HRNZ and the Handicapper can just assemble fields with the money funding available. and the horses that are available. same as anywhere. You need support from the participants too. Telfers Stable Are Putting In a HUGE sensational effort to gather prizemoney currently , working very hard with large teams in both Islands , and keeping the sport going. and paying their way well for the owners. just as Dixon does here in QLD. he may have won the Interdominion , but still put horses in tonight at Redcliffe to win $4000 first prize as well. like he did tonight. Keeps the sport going. Eventually the funding will drop and they'll be racing for 4-8 thousand $dollar races in NZ, like we do in QLD. You always say the Money is too much they race for in Auckland .? I think that was to try and Keep the Millionaires (like Dean Shannon, Barry Purdon and owners, Tony Herlihy and owners, Hughes and Owners , old Butcher, Old Ferguson and people like that still INTERESTED. They need the Better prizemoney to stay interested. they're all quite wealthy and after spending BIG at the yearlings sales, and with training Fees THROUGH the Ceiling. you need that better prizemoney for those 'Better' horses and trainers. Not many owner/trainers there mate lol. . Otherwise it would be very BLAND slow week to week horses and racing like QLD . Where the class of races is just set by the Handicapper to allow horses to just pay their way , week to week, month to month. Plenty of owner trainers pottering around Redcliffe twice every week . NZ has much More Exciting Racing !!! and Higher Quality Trainers . by tradition. They are Quality Participants , and no one NEW is/ are stepping up to threaten them . Young Dunn at AKLD is having a crack , but NO NEW participants can possibly compete with those trainers.? and they shouldn't race for peanuts . they can prepare Fast racehorses. Not many of them actually raced tonight though (but it's still Winter) so I'm going with the Flow of your Assessment . And have stopped betting NZ to help out, and don't care if they Fold or not anymore. They're all near retirement age at Auckland anyway . Harness racing can just retire with them . But at least the Handicapper tried to Get more Young Guns into that trot . good on him !! πΎπ

you blokes Never stop complaining about your 'poor 'product 'and discontent with HRNZ, ATC Should not race and all that sort of shit all the time . never happy with anything. My thoughts were they are putting on good races with good prizemoney. What more could you want ? HRNZ and ATC and Cambridge slots , NZ Metro Slots , The Derbies , even the NZ Cups all in Australia for the last 5 years now. Handicapper is doing that race real Well . I've known handicappers to ring trainers and ask if they have runners for fields that they would like to get enough acceptors for , and all sorts of things .otherwise the race would not go ahead. they do a marvellous job really. Handicappers work very hard to bring you the best racing they can muster. But just more criticism is all that happens is poor meetings. ''Not worth racing . all this sort of stuff. Just No Support for NZ harness anymore. So All the staff cop a hammering for it. Poor buggers. doing their best and get rubbished for it lol π NEWS flash. If the horsemen still competing don't race enough horses , then you WILL Fold . Where was Barry PurdonPhelans and Herlihys and Hacketts tonight ? none in at all ? must be all on holiday lol. Maybe they're listening to you blokes and thought it was All called off ? π Not Long to Go now and your Dream will be true. no racing at all .

They change the original conditions in a lot of races. Often the Handicapper is trying to HELP the Trainers get a start for their animal . they're not trying to hinder anyone. You guys noticed it on this occasion , because the late entry won the race. and it was larger prize than normal. and you see on all the forums ONCE AGAIN , all the fellas saying 'HRNZ Shambles '', blah blah blah ' when all the Handicapper was trying to help set up best fields they can , and to give everyone a go. So I can't see the point picking on someone for doing this. NZ forums can though lol π π€£ It should be noted as a good thing . someone extra got in the field to spice it up a bit . They exclude NZ trained horses from entering the Eureka $2mill race . I find that unacceptable as love International competition. but they are trying to get the best field assembled they can for the local national trainers. maybe one day they will see the light and be fair and let NZ horses in . Afterall LEAP to Fame and Arcee Phoenix took out the Big NZ slots without that sort of exclusion. (a smart person might send Marketplace to an Aussie trainer next year π)
