  1. They have super tight super sleek pants and silks these days. They wouldn't hold water like cotton or anything. I think Mickey wasn't serious about 2kg. it just felt like it with the water pummelling them during the race like a fire hose. Even in the older days we had satin silks that were very very light. Brush the clods off when they dismount and they would be fine to weigh in .
  2. On ya Mickey . Great drive up the fence there in the 5th at Flemington. Look after the 'Monger' mate. Shame I only got $3.60 and it paid $4.50 in the end, but can't have all the luck. 🍻😅
  3. Or watch the Races. That's what it's all about anyway. Flemington just got a bit wet now for the Edward Manifold 😳 can't even see the horses. Hope hey don't slip or anything.
  4. Rides today at Flemington for the great Mickey Dee. Race 3 Truth or Dare $7.00 / $2.15 place Race 4 Wings of Desire $4.80 / $2.20 Race 5 First Settler $3.60 / $1.50 Race 6 Makram $12.00 / $3.50 Race 7 Berkshire Breeze $4.00 / $1.75 fav in the Bart Cummings Race 8 Warmonger $14.00 / $3.30 in the Turnbull Race 9 Magic Time $5.50 / $1.95 2nd Fav in the Gilgai Race 10 Poifect $6.50 / $2.15 in the Big Mares race. All a chance today. Best odds are WARMONGER in the Turnbull , and a jolly good chance he is too.
  5. I'm thinking TRUTH OR DARE in the 3rd at Flemington shortly. Will be great to see the Te Akau colours on him getting the money if all goes well .
  6. Had the pleasure of chatting with him once 40 years ago Ranga. At Alexandra Park when he stormed to Victory in the Trotters Interdominion Consolation. (photo) He had a very nice mare in DOWNSOUTH CLARE . Dick Lee passed away 30th Sept 2024 aged 89 years . RIP. Fun Fact: Dick used the same Whip that Bruce Clarke used to drive Gammalite 🏆 to win the Pacers Grand Final and Graeme Lang used with Scotch Notch 🏆 in the Trotters Grand Final that she waltzed away with by 6 lengths (he might need of used the whip on her but Gammalite sure copped some 🤣😂 ) that sure was One lucky Whip !!!! 40 years later and KEAYANG ZAHARA about to do Aussie proud like Scotch Notch and Downsouth Clare did in NZ for the Aus trotting Fillies/ mares. ( La Cocaracha did well in Nz once too)
  7. yep . you're on the money ok. Just found this article about their association with Ken Breckon and Richard Cole for their slot. Looks like they're on a Winner for the Inaugural 'Ascent' The unbeaten three-time Group 1-winning filly caught the eye of Ken Breckon (Breckon Farms) and Richard Cole (Managing Director of IRT), and will make her way to New Zealand later this month to represent the high-profile slot holder pairing. “It’s great to team up with Ken Breckon and Richard Cole, they are great people who are big supporters of the industry. It’s very exciting to be in partnership with them,” Lee said. The eye-catching squareqaiter has now had seven starts for seven victories, including dominant results in the NSW Trotters Oaks, NSW Trotters Derby and the Vicbred Super Series Final (3yo Trotting Fillies). She will step out in the Need For Speed Princess Final at Melton this Saturday night and the Victorian Trotters Oaks on Saturday, October 12 before jetting to New Zealand for the half-a-million-dollar event. “If all things go to plan, she will stay in New Zealand for the Trotters Oaks two weeks after,” Lee said.
  8. Cold Chisel already with the Northern Derby in his keeping . The 'Merlin' Entain boss Dean really rocking it lately with YourTheOneThatiWant now joining in. 🤣 he's channelling some Grease energy there. It's a wonder there's not a ''Greased Lightning' racing somewhere for him 🕺💃 He sold 'KISS' off to the Aussies though. Gene Simmons won't be happy about that 😅. KISS is in the Victoria Oaks heats tomorrow night. Dean also sent INXS and Supertramp to Oz to try and rock the scene up a bit. Supertramp not raced though here but INXS won 3 in the Winter, but was down the track in the Group 1 QLD Derby won by the good NZ owned/trained horses 'Major Hot' in July. Dean is Sure as Eggs to have a great November at Addington Cup week with his 'good band ' of Barry Purdon/Phelan stars anyway. Bit of Merlin magic very likely.
  9. Mickey DEE !! 💰 D for dollars. what a great ride on Privileged Son just then in the 2nd MV. Michelle Payne now training with Patrick Mickey will be on some more winners tomorrow for sure , just like Matty Cartwright will in NZ . 2 similar jockeys that get GREEEAAT Results. Jmac rides are getting a bit short in the odds these days, so take the 2 next best and rake in the wins. Go you good things !! 💰
  10. when some get the need to jostle about pointless things on the racing forums it turns into a bit of cartoon as they try and beat each other up. including their very own contributors it seems a lot lately. NZ supposed to be a peaceful place on the planet too lol ? 😁
  11. what an awesome view at Wyndham during the race videos. The river so huge behind them at the 600m Mark it looks like an ocean in the background. and at the 400m the water almost looks like it is coming up the banking levee right beside the track. The guys there racing are tough as teak and racing away anyway. not worried about a bit of water about lol.
  12. some great insights Mr Galah . couldn't agree more there was some good performances with especially the 3 you mentioned in 'Stella Rouge', 'MarketPlace' and 'Rush'' all winning super well. very nice horses. 'Father Time' too , mugged the 3 yearold trotters with authority. John Dunn in an aggressive mood with 'Gone Surfin' and 'Got The Chocolates' with getting them right into the race a lap out in Stella's race and Marketplace's races . A lap of Addington is a Looong way. so he didn't end up getting the chocolates. He is sure having a crack at forcing the pace lately though 😂 . and Mark and Nathan struggling to win with 1/2 dozen horses 😳 ??. 'VESSEM' only just got there , but looked to be struggling a bit. 'Without You' was awful. even 'OscarB' struggled. 'RUBIRA' was ok in 3rd from the bad draw, but MarketPlace made him look like a wombat waddling late on . Allstars might find the better form when 'Don't Stop Dreaming' and 'Catch A Dream' are back soon . will be harder for Big wins for the stable now without 'Akuta' and 'Millwood Nike' though.
  13. Yes of course TABman. WE WALK BY FAITH will have a slot for sure and certain , after his @nd in the Sires Stakes Final in May to CHASE A DREAM. (and he placed in the GN Derby too) The horse that beat We Walk By Faith last week when they resumed, was also in the Sires Stakes Final and ran 5th in that . HARRISON JOHN . he'll be in the Velocity too, by looking how well he is. They're 'Addicted' for Life no doubt too TABman. They (Summit Bloodstock) had the Winning slot in the Inaugural $2,000,000 Eureka Slot last year at Menangle with the now retired ENCIPHER mowing down the great horse himself in LEAP TO FAME no less. they sure are very lucky buggers!!. ( on 2 counts there last year) . 4 weeks ago in this years Eureka ,Summit Bloodstock nearly won again , with Kerryn Manning driving HIGH ABOVE for them,( into 3rd spot for them and picking up 1/4 million odd.) Gotta love the slots !! Luke McCarthy would anyway , having driven both the Eureka winners thus far.
  14. What's going on Chief? It looks to me the barrier assistant that led her in by dragging her into the stall , had only just ducked under the front of the gate, and then they let them go. I would think the horse probably thought there was a chance he was still there ?? . and baulked a little. as she had some drumhead leaning over grabbing at her head up in the stalls as well. I used to tell the starter assistants to piss off and leave my horse alone at the trot standing starts 😁. It's Just too distracting for them , unless it's vitally necessary. ( if horse trying to rear up or something similar)
  15. Well there goes the First Slot Horse. will be snapped up for sure. FATHER TIME for Kevin Townley and driver Tim Williams , has donkey licked them in the 2nd race tonight at Addington by lengths. has 3 wins on the bounce and going well. Anyone wanting to see the BEST 2 Aussie 3 year-old trotters Who both likely to get a Slot, would have to stay up late to see the last 2 races at Melton on Saturday night when they are in 2 $50k Finals. (actually it would be after midnight your time so just put the replays on off the AHR website Sunday morning might be best lol. ) KEAYANG ZAHARA is at $1.03 against the Fillies and DEREK THE JET at $1.10 against the boys. Both undefeated thus far. and going gangbusters.
  16. Some of the horses that might go round in the VELOCITY are getting going Great Northern Derby winner COLD CHISEL is taking on the older horses at Auckland , including the best in the land of stable-nate Merlin, so he'll be 'warmed up' and sweating it out for sure and certain. and ready to rumble. Jerimiah and also LITTLE SPIKE ( who was 4th in the GN Derby) have resumed , and are in the 3 yearold race 5 tomorrow night Alexandra Park. will they both chase a slot ? The Galah just mentioned DREAMS ARE FREE going around down south. Will he chase the Big bucks like older brothers Don't Stop Dreaming did last year. A chance in the NZ Derby and slot race will be the 2 Horses who ran last and 2nd last in the Great Northern Derby earlier in year. MAJOR HOT and CHASE THE DREAM . they could Quinella the Velocity or the NZ Derby (or both)
  17. think we might have had a 'fitness' edge by the look of that bloke . 😉 'Thinking' not a strong point of the Oz cricketers Ranga . Good bit of drinking and smoking and betting more the go for AB, Warnie, big bad Booney , Big Max , Big Merv , markWaugh, Big Haydos, Big AndrewSymonds , and a few of their other mates last century. actually , might Scratch that Fitness edge claim 😆
  18. Ya Livin in the past Ranga. Most of these bloke probably dead or old drunks by now . And it's GOLD mate . not yellow 😁😉 as in GOLD Cup winners 🏆. (as in nice photo below) New Zealand form hasn't improved any either ???. what's going on ? No NZ One Day World Cup wins at all yet ? (although ripped off by the Poms 2019 in the Final) Here's the sweet memory from a Just a YEAR ago my friend. To cheer you up from those childhood memories of Chappell backyard plays. 2023 World Cup Champions (the 6th world Cup win ). i've had to pull a hand out of my pocket to try and keep counting, there's so Many now 😂 ) nearly tied with NZ in that Cup. with both teams scoring nearly 400 runs too. What a Day that was !!!
  19. Is an interesting choice. The really really slow ones are in today. Every Thursday. So Grant will send the very slowest of his large team along with the stable Junior driver today. 5 horses. and won't bother going himself as preparing the Metro class horses at home for weekend racing. Bills not an issue with that stable with Multi millionaire owners (3 of them) . they're all just having fun. And I never begrudge Seymour winners as he has saved Albion Park from ruin many times and kept the game going, when could of collapsed like Auckland. (plus Albion Park not worth much as it floods lol 🤣) not called 'The Creek' for nothing . But he and Natalie 'Cut the Mustard' driving these slow ones for many years , and learning to drive at the premium possible level by having 5 drives every day. I'm sure Dexter did the same there. Now the world's best. PLUS Redcliffe has had just 9 horse fields for past 2 years+ . So law of averages says you win a race every 9 starts. (once every 2 months) so you can pay your way. even the very slow ones. that is important. But certainly creates NOT a great betting medium , as the horse ratings system pits those of equal ability at that moment in time against each other weekly in each race. Therefore anyone can win really. NZ trotting is great to watch (with the good drivers and tactics and that) but BIG fields like Addington today , make it hard to pick a winner. they need a LOT of luck and a wing and a prayer. It's very hard to win there. BEV THE GOAT we were just talking about, a great example of how hard it is to win even a maiden race in the NI, let alone the SI. footnote: I wasn't criticising it's (Bev The Goat) Nz trainer at all. I was actually praising how good I think the opponents are, like Chilcott, and Ray Green , Donnolly, Doody etc., they all do a good job really and hope they keep at it. I see old mate Mike Berger finally chucked it in too.
  20. Yes, and before him I had labelled EXPENSIVE EGO here 4 years ago (that no-one had heard of) as a 3 yearold who will go on be the Best in the Nation. He nearly did. He won the prize Chariots of Fire as 4 year old and ran 2nd in the Miracle Mile to his Illustrious stable-mate KING OF SWING. Expensive Ego nearly won the Interdominion then, to be best of 2 Nations , but was relegated to 2nd placing after being first past the post. The unlucky bugger. King of Swing becoming the best in the land for a couple of years instead (with 3 Miracle Mile wins) . Expensive Ego recently retired after 25 wins from 57 starts and a Million earned. LEAP TO FAME , is the current Interdominion Champion and top of the tree. whatta beauty he is. and yes Grant mucks around with 2 many slow horses at Redcliffe and that , but ALAS 2 of his 3 millionaire owners breed them so he is stuck with them 🙄 . The other owner Greg Mitchell just buys them from NZ. he had our star trotter Our Overanova from there for a few years. must of been 50 wins . And here's a real funny one. Greg recently bought the North Island maiden BEV THE GOAT . 😅😂 what a funny name (used to give it to Chief in the comps lol) It didn't win there all last year and this year for 24 starts. was bit of a goat ? lol 😂 BUT it Won at Albion for Grant last Friday as the $1.10 favourite. So we are pretty weak here , or they are strong maidens there at Cambridge lol. (probably the later as good trainers there at Cambridge winning yesterday) 'Bev The Goat'. goodness me. hope it doesn't go Metro class 😂
  21. you're a very rare breed . and got good results from being quite astute. most aren't 🤣 NZ gallops are a little tricky. but I just follow jockeys I like mainly. Am nicely in front on a jockey I followed through his apprenticeship in Victoria 2 years ago , when made stacks. Today I had a tenner each on him in race 3 on Bourbon Empress and he got up by a nose. Matty Cartwright is a little ripper 😁💰. Just hoping he wins on Wolfgang in the next just quietly 🤞
  22. Great run Chief.!!! She could be a superstar after the start bungle and being tailed off , and then beaten just a neck in a Guinea's Race against the boys ! wow wee WOWwee. Caulfield Thousand Guinea's beckons? . Reminded me of Lord Module and Terror To Love (on his 3rd Nz Cup win) both bungling the start of the NZ Cup and giving them 50m . then somehow getting up to Win . They had 2 miles to do it though. CAPTURED BY LOVE only had 1400m so was a supreme effort. Shame it wasn't the usual Guinea's distance of 1600m or she would of still Won.
  23. I think most (all) serious Punters are at the gallops Brodster. there's no point making a serious money investment at the TROTS as too much can go wrong. Personally I think the size of the fields is one of the main ones, but in the other direction to what you are thinking 🤣 I think smaller the better to increase your horses chances of winning , but you like Big fields. all good. Thank you for kind words here. I fully admire your enthusiasm as well and often feel you are looking out for someone via having harness racing that can be bet on, Prizemoney allocated in certain ways to help participants, and other aspects you mention. NevertheLEss, Anyway the SLOT races are coming in , and I view them as the New Interdominion. The format is too tough for the old style of the famous annual INTERDOMINION Championships that I loved (Gammalite won 2 of them lol 😅) with 3 heats then going into a final. New Zealand has had Very poor Attendance recently, with only Bolt For Brilliance and Majestic Man competing in the trotting section in recent years, game enough to go to Australia, for their great trainers. The SLOT races will NOT be kind in respect that for decades I have enjoyed NZ trainers/owners bringing their horses across to Mug the Aussie riches, and very occasionally a Star like LIGHTNING BLUE could go back there and nab an Interdominion GF and a NZ Cup like he did. JUST BELIEVE already cleaning up the Rowe Cup and inaugural SLOT Trot in the North earlier this year. The Aussies will win the 3 year old slot trot The ASCENT as well on show day. so in that regard the monies will be leaving NZ (along with the NZ Cup with LEAP TO FAME in all probability) as the Aussies , after the crunch win by SWAYZEE last year are moving in for the 'kill' . For so long , when Allstars were great for a decade, it was the other way round. Times are changing.
  24. Well they're only new . and will be quite exciting . Chief mentioned the Velocity (for 3 year old Pacers , All of whom will be preparing for the Nz Derby a few weeks later. the Cream of the Crop. and I put up the Ascent thread (for 3 year old trotters ) as you may see one of the Best trotters ever at Addington if Keayang Zahara goes in a slot for the Lee family from Victoria. She is amazing. Maybe if Grant Dixon wins the NZ Cup with LEAP TO FAME he'll be back there next year with FATE AWAITS who won our 2 yearold slot race recently in 1.50.6. That's staggeringly fast for a 2 yearold. Today . Grant just said was 'good drive by Trista' , regarding your complaint about the Hayden race video) the 4th horse in that race , the Favourite was FOR REAL LIFE a QLD Sires Stakes Champion here Mr Galah). Having won the 2yearold and 3 yearold Triad Finals Group 1's . Free Thinker was in both those events too. (might of run 2nd in one of them ,last year. ) AND About a month after the race in video here on 17th August - FOR REAL LIFE Won the 4 yearold QLD Sires Triad Final too . beating Free Thinker into 3rd spot by no less than 7 lengths. It was truly a great 'team effort' by the Dixon's to beat him in this race (The Hayden) you point out.. To defeat Dawson's Triad champion horse FOR Real Life. Grant working it very hard early keeping it wide, and Trista attacking it 3 wide from the 400-500m out when she popped out of the 1-1. FOR REAL LIFE hammered in that one but he got his revenge (and is a triple Triad champion over them in the end ) All's well that ends well 😉 Hey !! this is a Korbyn Newman thread too 😂. See he has stuck the family horse in at Washdyke with another Junior Driver on this Friday night . Max Hill. Is He any good ? SPECIAL EFFECTS for a special win ?
  25. well I think we all know you would be a great stipendiary Steward as you spot a lot of stuff. Not sure if race will download or not that you are worried about. This high prize money race was also a qualifier for the EUREKA so they did really want FREE THINKER to win, and go to Menangle. Sure , YOU are RIGHT , Grant Dixon dropped his horse out of the one-one sit trailing the favourite , to go down on the marker line 3 back. (clearly seen in the drone footage down the back straight with 1400m still to run. This allowed FREE THINKER to get the one-one and ultimately Win the race. So Grant ran 7th 4 lengths from the winner. Did he stop his horse winning ? I don't think so . There is someone 3 back on the fence with the 5th fav nearly every race lol. 😂. someone has to be there. You can't expect the stewards to Throw the Book at a legend horseman with 4000 wins , just because he went 3 back the fence with 1400m to go on the 5th fav ?? . you see WORSE things happen every race day. I love all the drivers. NZ and Oz. they can't win all the time Mr Galah , I'm actually going along to Albion Park tomorrow as have 'plenty' from the Brisbane Lions win. and Grant has 4 horses in the fast class Race 4.😅 ARODA won the Redcliffe Cup , ran 3rd in a Group 1, then ran in race behind the EUREKA winner at his last start. You could hitch him backwards in the sulky' and still beat this lot. 🤣 if he's paying $2 I'll be laughing and double some of my cash . only 8 starters too. so no Excuses Nor getting held up 3 back on the markers LOL😅 I'll ask Grant what he thinks about The HAYDEN (the race you don't like what happened) for you and let you know after tomorrow. I think he'll say "A wins a win" 😉🏆 APM20072403.mp4
