  1. You running a comp Karrots, dont think I'm a dummy but I dont read all the threads here
  2. Interesting thread started by Thomass, that's not john is it?
  3. Tim Shadbolt got a knighthood so nothing surprises me any more
  4. You must have backed a few of their winners, there is a difference as to how good they are based on their percentages.
  5. Those dual code meetings in this situation are probably good,it promotes harness which needs all the promotion it can get.........12 to 15000 people, really?
  6. Maybe a new track could be constructed, just move the sea out a bit further, simple.
  7. I actually watched the odd race and while I'm no fan of Auckland the stakes on offer matched the quality of the racing,no doubt about it but it doesn't detract how significant all the little clubs in the smaller places racing and how important their place in the scheme of things are too,it's not all about a few bigwigs clubs,in many ways the poorest attenders of sporting events and racing is included is actually Auckland, for the population the turnouts sometimes are very poor
  8. Gee boxing day popular, better have a meet at addington instead of the coast, they can shift to a thursday in early july, much smarter😁
  9. Main race at Wairarapa,5 noms, brilliant. Strange irony, these 2 meetings have been doing this for years.
  10. One non winners race for the harness has 22 nominations, can the gallops beat that?
  11. Fields for Riverton not out yet, might be getting up to race 14 as I speak.
  12. Just looking at Taranaki day 2 ,fields, who comes up with these halfwit ideas? Strange people making strange decisions. Hawkes Bay,6 races,I thought the higher ups were trying to reduce cost,it will cost the same to setup at Hastings with a smaller programme,is this wise, maybe Hawkes Bay should concentrate on all the top meetings they do have. Just maybe and I say just maybe when they draw up the calandar for next season,Hawkes Bay go,Wairarapa race jan1,Taranaki one good day, they gave Waikouiti,Omakau new dates, why not change some of those northern meetings as well

  15. At this time of year you have to sell the public a good product, something else I notice,Waikouiti lose their jan 1 day,ok that's not the end if the world, they still get a date 2 weeks later, strange though is Waikouiti gets a much bigger crowd than Wingatui get on boxing day so why not race at Waikouiti on the new date, why the obsession with getting rid of good popular country racing
  16. Maybe Wairarapa race Jan 1,Hawkes Bay lose this day completely
  17. Just to add there is no reason not to can Hastings on Jan 1 just like they did to Waikouiti and then hope Wairarapa does better without the distraction, probably only one good day needed at new plymouth as well, some of the jockeys must hate small race programmes, more races mean more rides which makes better economics.
  18. In some ways the dates scheduling in the South Island is better but I think Wingatui should have had another race on boxing day.
  19. If you stay long enough you will be early for next year.
  20. Ive heard hardly any races in last few days, watched a few when I'm around, even tuned into rova app to hear last race at gore but overall the audience or numbers following must have dropped off.
  21. A lot of no brainers making decisions, one thing I'm bemused about was the statement regarding Gore that it was something to do with no fibre optic cable or something yet it seems to work fine for the racing club, racing ain't dead and buried yet, this time of year shows that,Westport,Gore,Omakau, will carry on as always, just the same as Xmas.
  22. Riverton have 9 races programmed,I think Wingatui with 8 and lots of ballots could have run another, sometimes the public might get a little shortchanged,9races seems a good number,9 for Kurow as wellstrange programing with Taranaki racing twice but only 7 races on day 2,maybe some room to run 3 or 4 trotting races like they are doing at new year further south.
  23. Not one Southland trained horse at Kurow and 7at Washdyke from only 2 stables, obviously they are looking towards Riverton and for the Cantabs that don't go there can focus on the Coast,no Waikouiti may change some strategies..
  24. Might have been a xmas present😁
  25. On a day like today it's got to be reducing the numbers following races, many people out and about just not bothering this year, you do wonder long term if this is smart.
