  1. Yes Gamms agree, a 10/10 from me. Put that they are repeat offenders at top. Article wasn’t too long so hopefully people read whole thing. Acknowledgement with apology to industry - punters was good to see & punishment given. Comparison to gallops so people understand its not just harness folks making mistakes. The facts around how it come about, so no chance of potentially being mis-read, re maybe drinking at races prior or maybe having a drink for breakfast. 2021 only & that is the end of Round 3, its Van Beynon vs Harness industry. That was nearly a knock-out, but not quite. The match continues is 2-1 Van Beynon narrowly in the lead.
  2. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/racing-top-harness-drivers-blair-orange-and-bob-butt-suspended-after-failing-blood-alcohol-tests/R2OIRRAQKD43KW6332UNBBSTXA/ Great to see a follow-up & this 1 doesn’t selectively omit night prior details πŸ‘ NZ Herald By: M Guerin Two of New Zealand's leading harness racing drivers face eight-week suspensions after failing blood alcohol tests at a Canterbury race meeting. Premiership leader Blair Orange and recent Group 1-winning trainer-driver Bob Butt both returned blood alcohol breathalyser results over racing's allowed limit at the Motukarara meeting in Canterbury on January 24. The pair were both tested before the races started and after being above the limit for harness drivers, which is lower than for drivers of a motor vehicle. Both were stood down from driving for the day. Both men have previously failed raceday blood alcohol tests on one previous occasion and have now been handed eight-week suspensions of their racing drivers' licences. Butt started his suspension this week while Orange starts his on Tuesday after his hearing today. The pair will also have to see a councillor specialising in alcohol problems. Orange is New Zealand's top harness racing driver and told the Herald he apologises to those inside the industry and punters. "I am very remorseful over what happened and will try and make amends," he said last night. "I went to two functions the night before and had a bit to drink and was home just after midnight, woke up feeling okay and went to work not thinking anything of it. "So I was surprised and disappointed to blow a positive test and I am looking forward to working through how I can deal with alcohol better." The suspension comes a few months after champion jockey Chris Johnson was also suspended for the same offence. He has since returned to racing and set a national record for wins with 2452.
  3. + opps I brought a horse recently & reaction was like, "what this bl..dy horse you brought like dat πŸ˜…
  4. This maybe an intrusive subject ... But I love talking about horsey's I even had to shoosh someone, while posting this. I don't have alot of people to talk about horses, so love talking or debating about it with others. I enjoy researching & re-watching horse videos like Galah. Kind of wish I was a know all on subject but not lol. My username came about via a fun call re Kiwi-Karrots, which quickly became Karrots as Kiwis are just not like Americans. Karrots can also be used as Carrots or a pony name. Ur turn folks. @Chief Stipe @Brodie @hunterthepunter @Gammalite @Mikie @MarkyMark @the galah @Harewood @Trotsfan
  5. Cool. Thank you Whippy, Galah & Brodie. I have thought of some nice subjects we could talk about soon. Whippy we are not all doushe bags in Auckland. I thought it was a really good point Elijay brought up re no grass track meetings in North Island, something, that if not being talked about should be! Hello is this being talked about? Whippy FYI I told a friend today I on here, they like oh cool when we watch your horse. I like not for maybe 2 years. They like ok cool we get crew together & watch 😊 Super sweet πŸ˜€
  6. I actually google her the other day, as her name popped up in a story, when I googled someone else. I went to her linked in page and looks like she lives in England now. Im aware of posting too much. I actually mentioned it a week or so ago. Just really enthusiastic, but don't want that to come across as being too over-bearing on here. I was actually excited and happy when I was accepted on here & so quickly. Because I don't really have many others to talk to about the horses. (That is why I try to welcome other newbies on when they join). But yeah, don't want to outstay my welcome or over-do it. Ill keep a lil eye on here, see what you guys/gals are posting about, see how our list of Filling the Void is getting on & the 2y-os. Then maybe in a couple weeks or so come back ... who knows. Maybe by then that journo that I think is against the Harness industry might have put out another story by then.
  7. Because I specially said that 1 of the people that made up the term Karrot was someone that moved back here. I said it would be funny telling them that I have used that term as my user name. Another example would be an article about a lady & she stopped her car on the footpath CBD Auckland, she wouldn't let a pedestrian pass. Saying she owned the whole road or something. Well that is another example. You would prob give people like my examples a more harsher name. Karrot is more polite. Then you asked a question regarding why the secret. I answered your question. Ok. Fine if you have never had a potential problematic ex. That is great for you. No idea who Craig Kennet is. Whippy, I actually like chatting with you. I don’t know why the sudden you Turn and you hating on me. Gosh if you think I am posting too much or out of control on here, just PM me, its not a problem. Ill go back out on a spell but a longer one.
  8. Lets put things into perspective here, 1st - 1 of the 2 is ex, & the other a friend of ex. I would not bother risking telling the ex, incase they used it against me & with the other being a friend that risks them telling ex. You have been on here alot longer than I so more time to tell people you surrounded by. If it was people outside of harness then nah thinking about that I prob wouldnt care to tell and nah they prob wouldnt care either. Inside harness I dont really many, and I have already told 1 I know. You came at Eljay and I calling us Jaffas, instead of reacting I just tried to add a bit of humour. Maybe that has been mis-read. I prob wouldnt call JJ a Karrot - here is an example, on a boat a small 1 but who cares, & another boat goes past & someone from the big 1 says to the driver of the smaller boat. Gee Your boat is small.
  9. I did tell 1 person actually, another owner that I joined & started posting here. Because I wanted to use their ph, mine flat. They just looked at me blank. Don't think they believed me. How many people have you told Whippy that you post here, since you asked the question? I saw Nandolo has been exported. Is there a void that also needs to be filled with open-class ranks, to get back to topic.
  10. It's not just Auckland Ludwig - it is all of the Northland (where it is known as Northland Day), Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne regions, as well as some parts of the Manawatū-Whanganui and Hawke's Bay regions. I thought it was a really good point, Eljay brought up. Eljay can answer your question tho 😁
  11. I'm getting the vibe that Nat is out. That she is done. For whatever reason ... If she comes back will be on a very small limited scale. Btw Shanlou came in again Thursday at big place money again, if you got on her 😁
  12. Hey Becs, Yay someone to talk to. Yes I admit, I was suss early days, then even not so long ago. I felt the video explained a bit. There was only 1 contradiction I picked up was when they were talking about passive income. Eg how most trainers don't set themselves up to have a passive income, that their business model was set to do that. But other than that I was happy with their explanations etc on things. And how they plan to get a caravan or have 1 already to travel around in.
  13. Don't really know which thread to put this under. Some may have already seen video. But for those that haven't & are interested. Nat & M.P have a 24 min video - was posted a few days ago. They cover a range of things. Nat may do a Uni course. How they didn't particularly like it when they had a bunch of runners in 1 race, due thinking of their owners etc. I thought it was a good watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWJVNvo3iDg&feature=emb_logo
  14. It was a lil funny when JJ went & welcomed Karrots to RC - when I was like thinking of real Karrots meaning. "Welcome Karrots"
  15. Really, oh more gossip, gossip. Dat funny πŸ˜† Yeah after I started posting & realized it worked like Karrots/carrots, but no actual like oh gosh what a Kiwi-Karrot lol. Goes like dat. (just those that think they really special, but they not really). I'd love to tell da 2 friends I have joined a horsey chat & named myself Karrots, oh the joy & laugh we would, but can't as it needs to be secret πŸ˜‰ No lattes for me today lol, very boring, just swanning around on BOAY. That more fun anyway 😁
  16. Actually funny story that's how I got my user name Karrots. Not Jaffas, but Karrots. A couple of friends & I that moved back from LA thought it was very funny & someone made up name. Karrots actual. Like those that thought they really special. Must of been thinking about Karrots & to be silly entered it as my username.
  17. Haha. It's REALLY different nowadays, in sense so many different nationalities. The further South you head, more like old NZ demographically. Well that is how I see it. I'm used to it now, didn't particularly like it at first. But it is what it is. There are still some here but more minority, you know who think they are special. But overall it's different nowadays. So many moving out, too pricey. Went to America's Cup tho 2 days ago. That was a treat 😁
  18. Haha yip beaut day up here. Call it Eljay, call it! 😁
  19. Gamms, thought you might like this 😁 It is just a few days old. But it hit mainstream media and looks like was on TV news too. A nice positive story about Alexy & trainer D O'C. They are on our list too! 😁 Nominated by Brods 😁 https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2021/01/horse-racing-battler-horse-alexa-cements-cult-hero-status-with-new-record.html BTW did you know here in NZ the Northern half of NZ are on a public holiday, while the rest celebrate there day another day.
  20. Hey Galahs 😁 No idea re if RIU announce positives or not. I wasn't talking about them. But anyways that is why I suggested a neutral person with no mates in industry to relay all the news good and bad within the industry only. So all the bad stuff that is needlessly being presented mainstream is not. I only pointed Guerin out as an example of 1 particular recent episode of when something was addressed quickly which stopped the rumour mill. (Not specially saying I like or dislike Guerin or his work).
  21. Far you guys on here have all the gossip lol. Hmm ok. That is a problem I think, in terms that it should be transparent good and bad within the industry. Stops rumours, conspiracy theories. It answers questions and people eventually move on from things and start talking about the next thing. It was great when think it was M Guerin wrote an article quickly about P Lamb dismissed. Yes that particular 1 was for mainstream, but that was top event. Oh well I am all out of ideas now.
  22. Posting only what is readily available online: Van Beynen was accused of approaching a juror, which led to criticism of him by an official of the High Court and media outlets. I have no idea if this is true or false just re-posting what is on Wikipedia. Note the herald link article has been removed about it. But the sentence still remains on Wiki. He also published a book called Trapped, on the Christchurch 2011. Well how do you think he got the interviews from people?! Charming.
  23. Haha, sucks when we break our own rules hey whippy. We need to slap ourselves like dis
  24. PS - There would be nothing stopping them having a β€œnom de plume" name & also re sponsors could look outside square, go for beer sponsors or something oppose just industry sponsors. We are funny Whippy - creating a potential job here ourselves lol. Maybe Harness Xpress could change things up a bit ... or add in a separate component dedicated to the above we mentioned ... if they are struggling ... Who knows anyway just some thoughts/ideas.
  25. For me regarding tipping info. All I am interested in is if they plan to roll forward or not or if they will try to make a mid-race move or not. Also if the horse has had a problem recently eg Triple Eight had ulcers. Wonder what others maybe interested in reading about on here …. ? Yeah we well I have been giving journos a bit of a hard time on here of late. Oh dear. Wonder how someone could realistically do it independent of HRNZ. They could get leads from stories from BOAY. Would either need sponsors or try to get a website going with traffic to get advertisers on website or do like how BOAY is run so that there are ads that come up - (I guess due to the amount of traffic that passes). Or would need to do a subscription. I think online oppose print or emailing out articles. That way articles can’t be shared. Just some thoughts ...
