I gave it away 10 years ago as only go one day a year being Winter Cup Day as essentially I don't actively follow NZ racing any more. With the exception of National and Cup weeks the course is free of charge and Members Stand entry also free. Depends how often you go to get financial benefit from being a member. Ring Ali, she will help you
-
Tickets have to be purchased thru Mostik, cannot be purchased from the Club. Ring CJC and speak to Alison Robin re the other query, Ali will have the answers for you Good choice of the day the Wednesday,
-
What colour was you free drink or food voucher, that is what is missing. Agree Bill Cotton a fine man.
-
Bill Cotton Treasurer, good fella. I am talking about Mills and The Chair and his Deputy, never see them as too busy on the Pinot upstairs. I only go once a year, but nothing changes, they will try of course but will be too late. I view their on course attendance as perilous. Interesting times operating without a good marketing support base. Dangerously interesting

Sure is a great serve Curious. I am waiting for the day I see Committee members walk the room on the ground floor and hand out a hundred $20 food and drink vouchers to the loyal regulars..... think I will be waiting a bloody long time. Interestingly on WC Day, I was stunned to see 7 under 35s on the ground floor ... that was a first for many years

I host a group of ex corporates every Winter Cup day to the Balmerino buffet which for $40 is excellent, the team love it. The other fare is average. The problem we currently have is filling fields, particularly jumping races and that is a serious issue. Winter Cup day is the best day of the year, even open races a smallish crowd and normally a great Winter pick you up day. Appreciate the Committee is removed from grass roots attendees but it is a great day

Well tell CCC that .... now called Bloom Festival .... fitting in a way as we wither on the vine
-
If the National Week heads north, and only a matter of time ... Likely within a few years .... then other iconic events will go too. CJC will become level 2 tier racing, where they realistically belong, on a par with Tauranga and New Plymouth but slightly below Awapuni and Trentham. Self inflicted
-
So true Reefton, like a pair of railway tracks. Rugby and racing both becoming of minimal importance in general society, maybe we have grown up quite apart from p.ss poor leadership
-
The Grandstand is the epitome of their failure in my opinion. Ironic we have just had *The other grandstand issue* resolved this week yet CJC have this bloody eyesore still standing. The lack of an insurance settlement 12 years on is not adding up for mine and the bells ain't ringing for me. But, the band plays on ...... and Riccarton wonders why on a standard Saturday they get 300 on course .... twilight industry continuing to give itself uppercuts ...... tho superb thesis material for any PhD student studying marketing All terribly sad
-
Sadly jumping in the SI is over. Just a matter of time, probably not far away, when the GN jumping events will be in the NI. Simply cannot survive in the SI and Riccarton will become a Category 2 venue, alongside Trentham, with only Auckland and Hamilton being Category 1. I only go to Riccarton once a year, for Winter Cup Day, along with my 10 invited guests, but feel that will end in a couple of years ..... and the band still plays .... SI racing is in deep water and not sure the AWT is the silver bullet

What I have read, a number of times, is that after a hard race, the horses are de shoed, fully rugged and complete with full lower leg bandages and on Dr Green for 2 days then formula food for 2 days then back to the stable. Probably given iron supplements as well, but essentially Dr Green. Not alone in doing this but I read where is programme is very different. I find the full rugging and leg bandages interesting and assume the rugging is a bee sting protective probably with repellant on it. The lower leg bandages, with artificial ice formulas I fully get as Aussie trainers use them daily and rare to see a horse walk into Flemington stables on Race day without them
-
Agree Doomed, Annabel now races them far and wide, just like Waller does but her record of City wins first up with ponies that win in the lesser meetings not quite as good as Wallers, but clearly she is using his pathway of placing horses, wish them both well as doing things differently
-
Interesting Reefton, one of the things I continually read on Aussie websites is how Waller is unparalleled in placing horses, they continue to say this is his greatest asset, closely followed by regular resting away from the stables (mental health aspect). Surely can train that's for sure but has broken away from the mold and is different in animal management aspects I find it all very interesting

Amazing performance, and the 3 boys all have a big future. Tremendous family, real professionals and a credit to the industry and themselves

CCC call it The Bloom Festival, as displayed on the street posts via their pennants Crazy, but true and no doubt some marketing guru got a good retainer to come up with it .... absurd
-
Sadly the time honored Trentham Cup carnival is no more. Very sad but that's the reality. Let's hope the don't shag around with Cup Week in Canterbury which is now known as The Bloom Festival, not Cup Week. Sadly nothing would surprise me so I am prepared
-
Was an option as was going back, but he did nothing and that was the bad ride
-
Not so, he could have rested out the back and improved on the slow pace knowing it was a sprint from the 600 which it turned out to be. Just a shocking *do nothing ride* and gets off with hothing, meantime pu ters burned - NZ racing is amatuer hour stuff and another classic example this BS
-
So they almost break 11s for the last 3 furlongs and the pony that sat 3 wide for the entire race misses by a nose. That was one hell of an effort and she will be a tired wee pony today, just hope she can come thru this race in good order. How the jock doesn't get 6 weeks is beyond me and this type of effort is the sole reason I only bet at Randwick or Flemington, this was a super shit do nothing ride, a fcuken disgrace
-
You have answered it for yourself 3 options and chose not to give his horse chance and sat 3 wide. Slaughter. Pretty basic Chief
-
Chief, you completely miss the point, as you often do IMHO. Beaten a nose but a half decent ride would have won by 2 lengths. Would have sailed in for punters.com slaughter of the day .... and at Randwick or Flemington a 6 week holiday, in the principals 3 or 4 weeks
-
Awful ride, put in a no win situation, just a shocker
-
My dear old departed colleague Mr Tannahill had many ding dongs with him which John and I frequently discussed. Vendetta's are very dangerous to hold as eventually you loose ..... and people never forget

Who got the chocolates off So Natural, now that was a plunge
