  1. Not sure Happy, only thing I can put it down to, but it is really racing out of its class, being a maiden against race winners, however they obviously think it is good enough to beat experienced race winners and the stake is very good.
  2. Possibly because it is the only non winner in the race?
  3. No I don’t think he is gay, I just think he is just having a bit of trouble with his sexuality! He also clearly has trouble with his wind by calling himself Fart Too Much!!
  4. Living Legend has been a real iron horse! He is no champion but he has done a pretty good job and probably raced as much as any other horse in NZ over the past few years. Gave one of the Westview Syndicate’s a lot of enjoyment until he was claimed by Mike Stratford who has won I think a couple of more races andanother where he was disqualified. Certainly a horse with a big heart and constitution.
  5. Yes it did go well, and showed that it will win races. Tuapeka Trick did look the winner though as he had been racing far better horses and ran great races as a 2 year old. Brother to Galactic Star who won a few here and now one of the very best in Australia. He is a promising 3 year old who is only going to get better! Well done to the Westview Syndicate and Nigel Armstrong who is doing a great job in bringing in new owners to harness racing with his syndicates!
  6. Hasn’t shown a lot on the track Happy, to be beating experienced horses who have actually won races and be so short is stupid but someone obviously thought there was value at 3.80 Bookies Are so risk that horses that can’t win they have at huge unders. Can’t see any real value at the moment as the fields are very even mostly, no point buying money!
  7. Mr Allen, turnover from Elite Customers is not as high as expected, because you are restricting the amount that Elite Customers are allowed to put on, not exactly rocket science
  8. Happy, I started a blog about Extreme Stride but didn’t realize that it had been backed in from opening at $3.80. Anyway 3.80 seems too short as well but someone obviously thought it was value do we will have to wait and see. It doesn’t take a lot of money nowadays to shorten the hell out of any fixed odds punt.
  9. The last race at Addington tomorrow Night at Addington has Extreme Stride at $2.70 Fixed Odds to win! This must be massive unders as he is only having his second start and is a 2year old racing against seasoned horses who have won between 1and 8 races. When it quAlified it went OK without being spectacular. It ran 4th first up at Rangiora and went ok again but up,against maidens and was well driven by Dexter Dunn as it saved a lot of ground on the home bend. It is a big ask and the Bookies has certainly kept it very safe, and yes a Cran Dalgety horse with Dex on it, but $2.70?????? Maybe “Brodie” will be left with egg on my face, but leave me out of it with those ridiculous odds!
  10. Shivaree, more than happy to be wrong then, So please explain why I never once received any rebates whatsoever into my account investing on fixed odds? Are you saying that fixed odds bettors that turn over huge turnover should all get rebates then? If you are I will be expecting mine to be backdated!
  11. So called Elite customers need to turnover a certain amount each month. However despite turning over substantial amounts in previous years, never once received any sort of rebate thru betting fixed odds! You need to be a losing punter to get anything from the NZ TAB! They love the losing punters, be a winning punter and they will try to shut you down!
  12. Hi Robert. No I would not have sold. The owners had a great time with the horse winning just about everything they could. The owners right to do what they want with the horse as he is still sound and certainly still a racing proposition. I personally would have raced on tilll Xmas then set the horse for a stud season next year as apart from the fact that I would feel a connection to the horse plus I think he was worth more as a stallion. Do we know how fertile Lazarus is though?????.
  13. Providing “tossers” like Farty stay over there, then everything will be just fine. It is good to have debate and everyone won’t agree with each other, but the thing was, Farty and a couple of his mates were contributing nothing of any value except to to jjst antagonise. He may get a bit pissed off if he can’t have a few of us on, so he will probably come over under a different name in the future! Watch this space I would say.
  14. Lazarus sold for around $4 million! Not too sure whether that is a good price or not? Obviously it will buy a lot of yearlings and lay a few training bills! The owners are clearly not interested in breeding themselves from Lazarus! Thing is I would’ve thought that he may have been worth a bit more than that as a stallion ! I am sure he would’ve got quite a few mares for several seasons. Say first year 100 mares at $10k would’ve brought in 1million on those conservative figures. They would’ve got at least the 4 million I would’ve thought even if he was only an average performer at stud and an absolute packet if he was successfull, and far more than the $4mill. They obviously went for the money in the Bank is better than the slight gamble!
  15. Basil, very interesting story! Benter isn’t Brodie and doubt anyone would be able to be that successful with Australasian Gallops. Certainly wouldnt with harness as you would get chopped till it wasn’t worth investing just like they do in Britain!
  16. Basil, you are right, but the notable thing is that of the 6 horses you quoted , 5 were from the one stable. Others will come along, they always do. The problem as we know in the open ranks is that stable ensures that other stables sell overseas because they can’t be bothered running for the dregs, end of story.
  17. I personally have gone pretty quiet on the investing or punting recently. Didnt even bother having a go today at Rangiora. Fixed Odds opening odds have got even more short recently with anything with a good chance at unders! With account, agency and oncourse being restricted I can’t really be bothered at the moment. Wont worry the TAB about fixed odds betters not betting as they don’t really want them punting and winning as they are more interested In Sports betting as the costs are less and yield far better, that is why they have bought into Paddy Power. Will still look at the odds but I can take it or leave it at the moment as it isn’t worth my time currently. Contrary to what some on the other site think, I did it for the challenge rather than the money however it has got to the stage where it is an uneven playing field, that I can’t be bothered playing into!
  18. Happy you weren’t a trouble maker at all. The intelligent posters were had on by a certain element, that was allowed to get away with it. At times it got quite toxic with certain ones just posting crap, calling certain ones liars etc. when in fact they were the ones talking the BS! Not sure why the site was allowed to deteriorate until I had a personal message from Scooby, from out of the blue, which was a load of BS. ”The Brodster” thing was just a bit of humour! Scooby has a problem by the look of it with people that back themselves, he seems to want dickheads on that just want to be antagonistic. There are still some very good contributors on the other site but will,be interesting to see whether people want to remain on there when most of the intelligent posters have now moved over to BOAY!
  19. Fart Too Much I beleive had at least 2 other names over the years. He has posted a lot but most of it was just trying to have a go at the more intelligent posters, just because he could. Take me a few days to count up the number of times he tried to have a crack at “The Brodster”
  20. Jim Ferguson also trained a pretty good horse named Maida Million I think I remember
  21. Hey Grandad, ever have a horse in that Jewels comp? No Sonny, had one qualify but didn’t think it is in the best interest of my horse, and so didn’t go! Best decision I could’ve made, as started at Addington when all the Jewels 3 year olds were up in Cambridge. Horse bolted in and sold to Perth for big money!
  22. Portfolio, if you knew me, you would know that I am a risk taker, and a major gambler. Obviously I appreciate it that owners love to have a horse in the Jewels! However, if I owned a horse that had qualified by say being the 10th highest stake earner and I drew 4 on the second line over 1609m at Cambridge against 3 or 4 AllStar horse, after a long season and my horse was past its best, would it be in the best interests of the horse? No, it wouldn’t be and could affect a possible sale, overseas if I had been thinking of selling! I personally would put the welfare of the horse and future of the horse ahead of running in one race a long way from home over 1609metres! Personally wouldn’t get too excited about telling the grand kids that I had a horse that ran last at Cambridge in the Jewels! Anyway. I wish everyone that has a horse starting at Cambridge the best of luck.
  23. Globe, no I wasn’t talking about the horses that have a good chance of running in the money. There will be horses that quAlified that will have to start now! As an owner I wouldn’t want to have to trek a horse up to Cambridge in the hope that half of them fall over to get any extra money apart from the appearance money! Of course Majestic Man has a great chance of being In The money providing he draws ok! There will be some that aren’t that good and will draw poor over the mile and a trip to Cambridge will knock them! It is harder on the South Island Horses than the North Island when they race at Cambridge obviously, and there are far more that will have qualified I would say. Will be interesting to see what happens this year!
  24. It is going to be very interesting to see how the Jewels fields hold up this year! Are the fields going to be maximum size for the mile start? Are all the top stake money winners all going to travel from the South Island to race probably only for the one race over 1609m, when they will be running against better horses many classes better than what they are? Yes I know they get good appearance money but is it enough for an owner or trainer to risk sending their horse up with little prospect of stake money, and stuffing the horse for immediate racing? Yes it is an honour to have a horse race in the Jewels but it is a risk that can have financial consequences if the horse goes no good, then a possible sale could be hindered!
  25. I wondered whether that was the reason as well, but the thing is if you don’t want to line up against the AllStars then you can see the noms and withdraw them! It is done every week, so a bit puzzling!
