  1. George is on NZTR isn't he not NZRB
  2. Yes and yet why wouldn't he have been incisive and positive? - Peters has given him and his group free rein to come up with whatever they like. Unless he himself does not like what the collective group has come up with and is trying to avoid too many direct questions
  3. I don't think it is the politicians laughing Porky - I doubt(in most cases) they care. It is the NZRB Board Members laughing(including Glenda of course) at the NZ Industry going down the gurgler while they lap up the overseas trips, lovely Karaka Million, NZ Derby and NZ Trotting Cup day Hospo and Directors fees. What is it that Glenda has over Peters? Given she is a National Party lackey I would have thought she would be the first one gone. it is sooooo frustrating that the NZRB Board just sail merrily along their way giving a two fingered salute to the NZ Racing Industry
  4. Been saying that for years - the NZ racing industry and the stakeholders are only a pain in the a#*e for the NZRB and TAB. They would far rather they go away and they(TAB) can just pick up the second leg from Outer Mongolia to televise.
  5. Just see the press release. I guess many won't be happy but at least we know who he is(unlike the rest of the non entities)
  6. After reading a couple of paragraphs of his first two stories after Messara's report came out I abandoned buying or reading the Informant in protest. There was far too much 'We have to implement this 100% and right now ' about it for me. Hence my comment in my Presidents speech in January about 'idiot journalists'. Costello, McCarthy and co were all in favour of shutting courses 20 years ago and I considered this mob to be the same this time around. From where I sit these guys were either (1)not prepared to ask the really tough questions about the waste in the industry with the big clubs or (2) too thick to see it. Maybe his subsequent columns have moderated but in those initial few days when we were reeling from the tripe contained in that report he and his ilk did not help.
  7. Maybe he needs guidance from Brian Anderton ... 'or someone of his ilk' I doubt Tiley or Sharrock or O'Sullivan or anyone else for that matter would be able to tell BJ Anderton too much that he doesn't already know about race riding, staff training or management, horse training, racing administration. Stud Management or anything else in this little industry of ours. That is why he is a Hall of Famer(and bloody well should be Sir Brian for services to this industry).
  8. I asked you for a list of the top line apprentices Nigel Tiley has produced. This ATA bloke was holding him up as someone with vastly more skills as an apprentice master than the legendary Brian Anderton(to be fair Corey Campbell will be apprenticed to Shane not Brian but Shane was a fair rider himself in his time who would have been a legend but for weight). I believe it is a fair question given the capabilities attributed to Tiley. The reality is that to my knowledge Tiley is yet to produce a decent apprentice so the list is a very short one and yet you lot assure us that the bloke is all things to all men. Sharrock has a fair record maybe but his apprentices don't always cover themselves in glory either. You will need a bit more substance to your argument if you want to take me on than hero worship of the bloke. As Morty said a lot of the very best apprentice mentors were never jockeys themselves.
  9. Industry comment written by B d L has not endeared the publication to many small club committee men either. Those are the type of people who buy a racing paper not David Ellis' arch typical 'retired schoolteacher who has had shares in three horses and all have been G1 champions' that he is always talking about on his website. Still sad however
  10. I think you are missing the point You lot have been telling me what a great man with apprentices Nigel Tiley is - I merely asked for some examples of the top line apprentices he has produced. Perfectly reasonable question given he is apparently all things to all men in that area.
  11. so can you give me a list of all these top line apprentices Tiley has produced?
  12. Tiley a Hall of Famer is he?
  13. a promising young riser would be better relocating to bloody Aussie than the North Island. Just because you get a disproportionate mount of dosh from the NZ industry blown on you lot doesn't mean your racing is any better than ours
  14. with all due respect there may be communication difficulties in many cases.
  15. Don't know but mentoring the apprentices is the job he is paid for and far be it from me to question the way he does it.
  16. I will repeat the paragraph in its entirety All the Aces 'Big call to say he needs to move from one BJ Anderton. I think Mr Anderton will be remembered in NZ racing long after Nigel Tiley has been forgotten.'
  17. David Walsh is located in the South and presumably regularly has contact with these kids. He rode a winner or two as well as I recall. Anyway Tiley was the man mentioned not NGH. Not that I observe her terribly often but Kate Cowan does not appear to have changed too much under Tiley's tuition.
  18. Big call to say he needs to move from one BJ Anderton. I think Mr Anderton will be remembered in NZ racing long after Nigel Tiley has been forgotten.
  19. The ones who have screwed up are the big clubs (and NZTR) and they are the ones who should be rationalising their assets and standing on their own two feet. See the RJC submission on the Venue plan. In fact the Clubs should be individually contracted to the TAB to provide product and bypass those bludgers at NZTR. Pay them a levy to keep them going(and a bloody small one at that). Adjust the percentages to reflect the day of the week the racing is held(ie a Tuesday is not as good as a Saturday so a higher percentage to encourage Clubs to race on midweek dates) and the time of year(a winter Thursday obviously is not as desirable as a Christmas time Thursday so should get a higher percentage). At the end of the year divide up the profits proportionately. Set up the clubs(probably as clusters) to run their own on course totes and organise their own raceday services. You will be earning based on merit efficiency and performance not on the fact that you have a CEO who is constantly in Bernard's ear or a Committee that has the right connections.
  20. Thanks. It was but the biggest thrill was extracting that div
  21. Can you tell me exactly which owner you are talking about and where the article was
  22. So S McKee has probably trained a thousand winners Tom arse. Just remind me again how many you have trained?
  23. Thanks CS. There were certainly some juicy dividends extracted.
  24. The odds for Moonee Valley tomorrow night have been up for a day in Aussie but still waiting for the NZ TAB to get around to putting theirs up. I thought this new platform was integrated with Paddy Power or something or is it just that they don't want our money?
