  1. Looks like the only ones happy are the breeders, i suppose they are the only ones with a spare $600 laying around for a chop n veg! For me, the breeders are getting looked after, but for the trainers, especially the smaller types, they are getting the shit kicked out of them. How are they getting helped, by closing half the tracks, WTF. How many owners love their horses racing in their little home towns -GONE. How many owners love seeing their horses train at local track-GONE How many owners are involved in their local small clubs- GONE How many involved in each club work hard to organise events, crowds for race days. Those at this club level i feel sorry for. Comes a time, where trainers need to strike. This time, they will have the support of most owners & puntes. Stuff the suits and breeders! STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE
  2. Wow, hands down off 40m ?
  3. Good post yankiwi
  4. What about the pokies???
  5. Von, I have taken your advice. I usually bring out sun umbrella to place over outdoor table, but i have postponed date and will keep gumboots handy.
  6. Thanks hess, i feel better already. Although i do feel sorry for that poor girl having to pick them all !
  7. Yay, first day of spring, with some great racing in nz & aus. Pity that messara report on most of our minds rather than racing. Love spring?
  8. Hear Hear. Lets start some petitions
  9. Good work Curious, i like the fighting Erin Brockovich types, lets all get ready to rumble!
  10. Well, good nite punting, but one of those nights that i should have made more, i know, thats a famous punters quote that we all use? Awaytocollect galloped at start, that put paid to my big collects, even if it placed it would be good. But horse will keep, made up plenty, horse owes me nothing. Over and out.
  11. Good to see those connected to the Gore club putting uo the fight!
  12. Wow, Mind you i did drink a bit in the 80s, ? only ever remember harness at westport
  13. I did mate, mentioned you in Addington tips thread. Only small each way bet, but got a few small multi bets running thru most races addington. Either be a good night, or me saying why didnt i just back it more ew.
  14. Mmmm,
  15. But thats what people expect from the coast, only time i go to the races with gumboots in the car. Thats why trainers go to the coast, hoping for a bog track to suit their nag. This report does make me laugh a bit, every sat on trackside we are shown aus racing from coast like tracks? How come they are still going?
  16. Drizzling in chch today. Awaytocullect r4. Course stats terrible, but begins well, distance suits who loves grass/ wet. Will be there. Billie Jean r2. Have followed it all starts, think richie picked it out after good trial form. One more chance for me frim good draw. Three ideas R5 Might get good run behind fav, due to win. The Fixer R6, Should win again. Thats my 4 for the night
  17. Dead right, cant say hoki worse than kumara. A mate reminded me recently, that Kumara is the only racecourse that he had attended, and saw a rabbit and possum on the same day. Gotta go to the local zoo if your in town to see that.
  18. True, But with weak nth island fields, he will pay his way
  19. Firpo did more for coast racing than he did.
  20. Yes, i see where your coming from. But if the clubs are not keen to work together, well they cant complain when coast racing is gone forever. Would be a shame if they couldnt work together. Sometimes in life you gotta take a step back before taking two steps forward.
  21. I understand that reefton, but why say kumara is staying, yet other tracks with towns more set up for the racing crowds are going, if all the tracks are on par? Hoki is turning into more of a tourist spot everytime i visit, its got that kaikoura, hanmer & akaroa feel to it. So looking at it from an investment, its better to spend money on getting hoki track & buildings up to spec, rather than kumara, which is a ghost town. Whichever track gets thumbs up, its gonna cost s bit to get up to scratch.
  22. Not sure what that refers to, But yes, if somebody hadnt come up with gold nuggets format years ago, kumara would probably have gone a long time ago. It needs a mix of oldies & newbies, remember they are the future, like it or not. Bit like Kaikoura, they plan weekend around races, even now added a few races day before as well as usuall calcutta type events, which i love, its what makes it for me, the effort the locals give is the reason us townies support them. I think the so called circuit is gone, but racing twice in a week, for good money at the same track, will still appeal
  23. Why cant all the clubs contribute to one, spread costs of keeping one track, eg hoki up to scratch, they can still run their individual club meetings. Maybe build some sort of function centre at course, or at least flash area that they could lease out for other events. I think as long as one track is kept, either hoki or greymouth, it can work. Especially with 5kg whitebait to each winning owner!! Im in ?
  24. But i cant see the holiday circuit remaining. Somebody will tell us, but how many coast gallops meetings are run in the xmas season? Must be 6 or more in Jan, im not sure. Local harness guys will suffer too, usually have a couple of trot races held at some meetings
