It was a very tame race. No one moved until the last 400 so they were essentially handing the race to the front runners. Surely that won't happen with the Aussies in the Cup.

You are going to have to step. First 2 in front after the start and stayed that way. Ultimate Machete looked set to go and then got made to wait for others (hate that)

Star Galleria disappointing. Little chance on that run. No Doctor Needed has no chance of winning either on its run.

Ultimate Machete was probably the run of the race. Still don't think he is 100% yet. Looks Ominous.

Alta Orlando must be another good place bet with his form over 2 miles.

The Aussies must be feeling good.

After  that race only 3 NZ chances are Ultimate Machete,The Fixer  and Eamon Maguire.

Add the Aussies and you got the Quaddie

Ouch, that hurt. Machete is still the horse to follow though. Not changing for anything.

Matt Cross said on trackside that none of the drivers were happy with the start.Drivers said all horses were ready and he made them stand and a lot got on backfoot then.

Starters so inconsistent, some races they walk in some they make them stand.

Maybe the starter should be spoken to by the stipes.

Still a race record though, I believe, and seconds faster than either of Lazarus's wins.

I agree the 'Aussies' must fancy their chances, but I wonder whether either of them are really 2-milers. TT hasn't quite seen it out in the past (albeit against Lazarus), and while Chicago Bull is clearly a very good horse he's untried as far as a fast 2 miles against decent opposition is concerned. Still, if Ultimate Machete doesn't begin cleanly, it may not matter this year.

Not to mention the fact that I've been wrong before...

I heard somewhere the track might be too big for chicago bull

He won a couple of times on the bigger track of Winton, wouldn't think track size would make a difference to him, I hope they drive him aggressively, it will make the cup  a real spectacle

happy I just studied the sectionals and definitely not tame.Outstanding time and there were some great sectionals from quite a few horses.

I don't think Star Galleria was ever a real chance in the cup despite the early money on him.

Correct. Least of all Ultimate Machete. Quite an exceptional recovery for a horse that isn't quite screwed down yet.

I know I keep banging on about him but he does look the goods for a long grind at fast pace.

To answer the original question is that lamb will fuck the cup with another of his bull shit starts. Ricky Donnelly is head and shoulders a better starter than lamb.

gotta love blossoms comments lol

Will the Cup be run the same way? Lead and others give chase the whole way?

Ultimate Machete skips and settles last would see him no chance then.
