Gammalite
Jamie Kah gave that Melbourne Cup runner every possible . Okita Soushi 3rd. Thought she had it 300m out too when hit the lead. but not to be. 🙄 Robbie Dolan the hero of the day instead on Kinght's Choice. congrats to the old Ethereal trainer Sheila Laxon for a strong NZ connection as co-trainer today . and great ride Jamie as usually usual 😂😋

Both 3rd and 4th horses went too early, perfectly timed run by 1st & 2nd horses. Some reputations dented in that race, bookies have had a field day

Newmarket
Strange race, those at the back loomed into race wide…. all did little. Was left to outsiders charging thru. Most didn’t handle the 2 miles, I backed Zardozi, thought big chance 200m out, went a little early but didn’t quite see out distance. Sea King no chance from last, made up ground to finish 6L away, but never likely
Gammalite
1 hour ago, Newmarket said: Kah went too early….. Possibly right . just got all the race replay on TV right at this second. Damien Oliver is scrutinizing it hard , and says because 3rd and 4th were so handy , they were left in front too early. Says at least they had their chance where-as a few like Buckaroo had to do it the tough way 10 wide turning in , and not quite getting there. got up near Jamies bum but dropped back a length near the line. Great times rides 1st and 2nd . No Doubt. I was very happy with Jamies effort though . just needed 3100m only and we were the Winner s !!! 😂🏇🏆

Wingman
Armchair critics. Run that race again, change a few split decisions... 23 horses on a turning track, there will always be hard luck stories and criticism. One aspect most seem to have missed is that there were subtle on off speed changes until approx 900m when as usual into full speed. The time was 3.19.53, very respectable but over a second slower than Without a Fight in 2023

Wingman
That is the beauty of thoroughbred racing. Something for everyone's preferences. The bookies in UK despise the each way punter who only backs the 5 to 1 shots in 8 horse fields (money back if 2nd or 3rd) and love all those trying to pick the winner of 30 horse heritage handicaps. Yes you read that correctly, 30 horse fields!
