the galah
Aardies express makes its australian debut toinght in race 6,a $50,000 mares race. The former telfer trained mare now being trained by jack trainor.10.42p.m. Interestingly, its price has drifted from $1.80 to currently $2.20. Shes had 2 trials. The first she paced a bit rough like she may be a bit sore like she was over here. But then a week later came out and jogged a mile in 1.51.7. Her gait wasn't perfect but was a lot better than the week before. probably the best mare to go to australia for a while,so it will be interesting to see how fluent her gait is and how dominant she can be. going on her latest trial she should run 1.48 in second gear. All the money seems to have come for a clayton tonkin trained horse, soho historia. I see its won 13 of 32 starts, although i've never heard of it myself. I see in a preview of the 2 and 3 year old racing at melton tonight they refer to emma stewart as being the co trainer with clayton tonkin, although just his name seems to be the officail trainer. Not sure how that works. Does emma stewart still have a stay of penalty? Anyway, will aardies express show what she can do? Tonight will tell. Not sure how that works. Does emma stewart still have a stay of penalty? Emma did get the 6 months DQ last year. somehow got a stay for a few weeks approved, until her hearing date in March recently. But no-where has posted a result of that hearing? . Very poor really . just like they trying to hide it or something. Emma Still seems to be involved Heavily as has several chances in several races worth Hundreds of thousands of 💰💰💰 tonight. she doesn't want to miss out on that 😂. maybe she got off? hey watch out for old mate Grant tonight. This QLD bloke is pretty good in race 6 at Melton, FATE AWAITS. he's no Leap To fame or anything but bowling along well and won his 3 starts so far by a combined 20 lengths. so he's popped down to Vic to try and nab another Big prize tonight.
the galah
Sure enough Aardies express wins by a length in 1.48.9,after sitting 3 wide then without cover for the last 1000m. Just too good although was asked for the effort to do it. The thing that surprised me was the price. I had thought $2 was great, but it ended up at $2.80 on the tote and $2.70 on the ff for a win. The money came for its stablemate manhattan which was the big shortener. What was a bit of a shame was the mare still seemed to be a bit sore somewhere and jack trainor seemed to steer a wider path in the back straight as she had a tendency to move in on the bends. A very good mare, just hope she handles the racing ok. i though fate awaits went very good gammalite. Ran 3rd. But the couple of 2 year old races i saw were dominated by the clayton tonkin horses. What was interesting was how big a gaps there was between the winner ,then place getters, then the bulk of the field. 7 of the first 9 races were won by horses paying $2.50 or under at melton. The other 2 races the winners paid just over $20,with the red hot favorites running a place. Edited April 20 by the galah

Good call on her winning Mr Galah. 55 half out of the gate with a death seat 54 second last 1/2 mile . just incredible they can run 1.49 miles like that and win easy these days. That one Aardie's Express will win plenty. Big spending Canadian millionaire owner Mike Tanev has a good one there for sure. Think he sold 1/2 of the other one AardieByTheSeaside to the Bond Team in WA and it's gone over there. yet to start. Interesting the other mare's race tonight went to the Queenslander. 'Girl from Rosedale' in 1.51. after a few handy Brisbane runs for Ryan in Veivers in 1.53 lately. picks up a win over Grimson and Trainor at Menangle ? which is a bit of a surprise. they sure rattle along now. Grimson's 2 runners tonight both 2nd then , to the QLDer visitor and the 'Express' new arrival you pointed out. that'll annoy him lol.

Any idea of the Sale price for a good mare like that ? (The million dollar plus Nullibor slot-race was run last Friday too in WA. Minstrel part owned by Robin and jackie Butt ran 2nd and picked up $200,000. ) winner was Kate Gath with last years Miracle Mile winner Catch A Wave.

As for 'AARDIE's Express' she picked up $136k in her 2 races so far at Menangle. and running blistering 1.48.9 mile too. She could be worth anything ?. wonder what the Aardie stands for ? that they name them?. Dave di somma once did an interview with the canadian owner ,mike tanev and discussed the name aardie. i just watched it again to answer your question. He must have played a bit of baseball and his mates nicknamed him aardie because of his big nose. So aardie is the owners nickname. Anyway, there used to be a cartoon series which featured a character called aardie the aardvark. The aardvark is an actual animal with a tongue thats a foot long and obviously a big nose that eats termites and other insects and comes out at night and is from africa. They occasionally are shown on those widelife in africa shows.
Gammalite
the Machine is back in action this week. The Grimson machine that is. (as well as the express) AARDIE's Express now training in his name instead of Jack Trainors for her first 2 Aussie runs for impressive wins. move over stable-mates 'Bubbles' and 'TayTay ' this week. will be No win for them. Was going to ask Mr Galah (or other if interested ) what he thought of the Mares situation at Menangle. Grimson and Trainor are virtually 'team training and driving so they have to work out a plan to suit their owners. NZ owned 'BRAEview Kelly ' has been at Trainors 2 years and won a group 1 last season , and can still run a 1.50 mile. BUT has not won in 7 runs this year for a poultry $24k because Trainor keeps bringing in new blood , Manhattan from Nz Winning her first 2 mares races (before in turn now being flogged by the Express ? , and now Aardies Express , who is a machine. so Braeview Kelly just reduced to running places to them all the time now 🤕 ?. I'llhaveaBubbles ( Nz ownedtransferred from QLD) and Tay Tay (transferred from Victoria , both to Grimsons so are next in line for the 'Express flogging' at Grimson's 🙄. starting this weekend So wouldn't you be annoyed with these stables doing that to your mares ? Supposedly trying to get you some wins , and bringing in the bigger Names to beat you ? I'd be REALLY Pissed off if had Braeview Kelly getting ripped up by stable-mates? while still pacing 1.50 miles ? and now good Nz mare Manhattan the same fate ? / would just send her / them to good Queensland Trainer for the G1 Golden Girl coming up soon if mine, or something like that. Should they transfer her (Braeview Kelly) somewhere else ? probably cost 24k in training this year so they've made total of NOTHING with a 1.50 able horse. terrible IMO.

One recent but also one dating back to 2021. Its very interesting. The 2021 positive was for levamisole for the horse chubby checker. Chubby checker may no longer be alive, but he was trained by ken barron here and went to Trainor where he won first up about 6 weeks after having his last race from the barron stable here. What is interesting about that time frame is, its about the same as the kerryann morris case where she also had a levamisole positive from an ex ken barron trained horse. Black edition. In her case there was evidence black edition had been drenched with a product containing levamisole prior to leaving nz and a few weeks before racing for her.. An appeal commttee recently found that the levamisole in black editions system would not have come form the barron administration and they kept her 6 month disqualification, which she had already served anyway. The judicial hearing found barrons administration would have been well out of its system by the time it raced in australia. So i guess trainor may have been awaiting the outcome of that case, given the circumstances were similar. it all seems a strange coincidence and makes you wonder why.But they are saying the withholding time is only a few days. Levamisole is used for differing reasons. One is to stimulate the immune system and is used in some cancer treatments. i did read where it at one point it said for horses,it wasn't recommended as to get the positive effects, you would have to give it in doses that could lead to other problems. They do put in in the worming drenches for other animals. Apart from the feel good effect from boosting the immune system, the most obvious reason trainers would give it is levamisole metabolises into aminorex. Aminorex has a potency comparable to cocaine. It acts as a psychostimulant due to its amphetamine like properites.given those qualities its used as a cutting agent for cocaine and is believed to be in over 80% of cocaine sold in the usa. So that does sound like how the likes of trainor and grimsons horses run, doesn't it. I suppose they jhave worked out the adminsitration time for it to work for them, but trainor got it wrong as couple of times.

It was common knowledge about 15 years ago that some trainers were drenching their horses with small amounts , 5 days in a row leading into races in nz. it was about that time that HRNZ went public and said, hey we know your using this stuff and we know its a performance enhancer and we know you think its not being tested for and may think its legal, but you must know its a performance enhancer that they have been catching people in the usa for using it,so we don't want the scandel; so stop please. How nice of them. Also the over use of levamisole had been known to have been linked tio horse deaths in parts of nz. Apparently some people ,i understand in particular the lower north island so maybe gallopers, had been drenching their horses with the worming drench a lot to get the effects of the levamisole, but by doing that how given deadly amounts of the other things that came with the worming drench. A 1.49 speed demon in February and then doesn't' back up after so has spaced runs now. will be interesting to see what he does Saturday. Classy Operator obviously enjoying his potions at the moment for young Grima. wonder how long now till it burns out like Loyalist. They (the Grimson machine) couldn't get 'Hot and Treacherous' performing well at all which is surprising, possibly pulls to hard working against it. Hi MynameisJeff is back in action and looks ok (over short trips). Frankie Ferocious from QLD is probably Eureka favourite for the Big bucks in the Slot race. don't think they let kiwi bred horse in it .Bit racist ? lol. It seems there is lags in their methods working with horses at times, and some never come back to the firing on all cylinders again. Nort surprised they have found a trace of something with Trainor's . they have tried hard to solve the mystery for quite some time now ( think they needed Chief to send INCA over here 😄😂) could have sorted it out a bit better? lol 1

At the time i had a horse with a virus. someone told me to try a sheep drench and that it was the levamisole in it that would help. But they said you had to be careful to get the dosage right. At the same time i had heard, that was what some trainers were doing for 5 straight days pre race. So i thought it must be safe. This was just a horse we had that wasn't racing but seemed to have a lingering virus . i already had some of the drench for my sheep so gave it a go and the horse really picked up. then the next thing i knew there was all this publicity about levamisole and potential positives. At the time i thought well i only want it for treating a virus, and had another couple of horses with what i thought was the same lingering virus, so must be able to get some from somewhere if i use it just for that. as i had used the balance on my sheep,i went into pgg to get some more. But they told me it was currently taken off the shelves due to the racing thing. They told me to ring their supplier and after some calls was finally told if anyone had some,it would be a vet in invercargill. So i rang him and he told me he had none, couldn't currently get any in and said part of the reason was because some people in racing, had not been using it safely and to get the performance enhancing effect of the levamisole, had been over dosing their horses with the sheep drench and there had been a run of horses deaths believed to have been for that reason. He gave the example of someone in the lower north island had accidently overdosed and killed some of their horses. He speculated that sheep drenches have several things in them and you can overdose on some of those if you don't follow the recommended doses. so you can call that hearsay. while i didn't know him and he wouldn't have known me, i don't think that vet had any reason to lie to me. Without getting into the how much of something is needed debate. From what i have read, they say most, not all, of the aminorex positives around the world have been tied to levamisole.smaller % seem to be from certain plants. In some racing jurisdictions in the usa its described as a class 1,penalty class A stimulant with a high potential for influencing a horse's racing performance owing to its stimulant properties. And it just makes sense that the trainers who include it in what they give their horses, must think it gives them an edge.
Chief Stipe
@the galah you are at least consistent at discussing stuff you obviously know nothing about. Aminorex has been around since 1968. It can be detected at levels well below the level that can have any pharmacological effect on a racehorse. It can be detected many days after administration. But heres a quote from the RACING MEDICATION TESTING CONSORTIUM,based in lexington ,kentucky.
