Geez they sure have upped the wage bill today.  Two presenters in the Studio and another on the other channel and two on course at each of the meetings!

I might be being a bit picky but why do the two presenters hold their heads on an angle?

You do wonder if just like newhubs demise and TVNZs struggles in the media if this genre of media as in trackside is sustainable in the new form in the long term, plus as we know Entain have also got the radio frequencys too, which actually seem to have less live content than ever, I often check the broadcast guide, just more and more reruns.

Yeah it does seem excessive. Same for Friday Nights.  Much as  I like Greg O'Connor he's wasted being in Studio. Yesterday I had the sound muted most of the time but I don't think having 2 on camera, in studio, adds anything.  Certainly shows up the paucity of actual betting/racing graphics on screen.  My bugbears of lack of results and next race notifications (both channels) remain extremely annoying.

Now that you mention it that was a pain as well.  The Ozzie's do it differently - they have similar preview commentary (stuff all post race unless it's a major event) but is audio not audio AND video from a studio.

The "Big Saturday" seems focussed on having attractive women (with leaning heads) and suited men (Thad Taylor must have a dress code exemption) hogging the screen.

I'd rather see more horse preliminaries and on screen odds.

Also all very fine having the likes of Erin Leighton, and I guess Jayne Ivil will appear soon, looking at horses in the parade ring and giving comments but why not at the time when the horses are actually walking around?  With the camera focussed on the horses rather than the presenters?

Thinking about it a bit more we got to see more of the horses in the parade ring at Rosehill and Flemington individually than we did for the entire two meetings in NZ.

Heard Ron Dufficy and Lizzie Jeffs heaps but didn't see them once.

At Riccarton Members room yesterday, smallest crowd I have seen on the first jumping Saturday.
Can’t just buy a sandwich anymore, need to order, $10-50 for soggy chips.
Went to hot dog caravan instead, lady said she was real busy as many members coming down🤭

Plus Doomben and Morphettville. Yeah someone suggested that Entain were copying some Aus racing channel.  Like to know which one it is. All I see is Sky and Racing.com and it doesn't look like either one of those although we don't get their graphics - unfortunately.

i don't really care about the odds until I have a horse that I think can win or place, then odds kick in...  but the modern way that racing is now delivered, driven by that 4/5 minute churn, the now seems to Never be decent prerace actual footage of the Horse! Which I need to actually have a bet! The odd big race we might get that... I need the 'talking heads' 0.0025% :)

This Big Saturday format on Trackside is doing my head in.

Yep, have to agree. It’s a complete waste of time listening to these woman prattle on. Who is the one on the right?

I don't think I have ever criticised the trackside presenters before. I don't really listen to them as I largely follow the Aussie racing. It is fairly obvious though that this format is not working. It might work as a format if the studio presenters were real experts, but these two seem to be just filling in the gaps with aimless talk trying to pretend they know what they are talking about. The one on the right seemed to think Octagonal was a mare. Apparently the Missile Stakes is going to be the greatest race for years. I can't wait.

It really is very amateurish.

Yeah me neither.  They are good presenters in their own right.  It is ill conceived and badly produced.  They've got to remember it is a racing channel and betting is how they make their Chief Stipeh.  They nearly made a huge blunder when they cut after the Grand National straight to Randwick with a horse being reshod but thankfully recovered.

Yeah, agree.

Obviously with the diversity thing sweeping the world…. Needed to put 2 woman up who only read out what we can already see. When Saturday racing on trackside is already overloaded, why spend time on this nonsense

THe second one arrives a bit later. 1 serious suggestion I would make is that they stay with the on-track team especially for the tight finishes in Aus. They are more likely to be more able update us (and more quickly) on the finish than those sitting in the studio
