They are really doing themselves no favours, annoying the viewer immensely, by moving on to the next race with scant regard to the race just finished. Todays real disappointment was the Caulfield cup coverage so Chief Stipes tongue in cheek comment in his post 'Is the cup running today' wasn't far off the mark. Within 10 or so seconds after the last runner had crossed the line with no final 200m replay and no head on, they went to...drum roll... a race at Gold Coast, ffs. woeful.

I keep flicking between channels!

Total piss off for me!  we get two minutes of the crowd singing instead of seeing the horses around at the start!!!

Is it me? this ever grind of race on race on race, sigh, all becoming rather a slog! is it best to leave the punting to the younger players!!  wondering if time really could be spent better elsewhere...

That is Entain's target so serious punters like you and I are yesterday people. I still think they will lose more than they gain because the novelty will wear off and loss/loss. Back to race coverage, how hard is it to add an extra 40 seconds to the post race coverage to enable a replay of the last 200m and head on. I was considering focusing on Sydney/Melbourne but if they treat the Caulfield cup the way they did yesterday, why bother. For those of you who wonder why my fuss, watching the replay in real time reinforces certain runs/efforts that help one avoid  being influenced by other outside opinion/chatter later.

What a difference a week makes. After the Caulfield cup trackside producers could not wait to take us to the next at Gold Coast. Today, following the running of the Cox Plate, a race for the ages, the producers boldly state on screen, the next from Morphettville will be on ch63. Are they starting to understand the importance of capturing the essence of the aftermath of elite races? I hope so. A bouquet this week to both trackside producers and presenters.

umm, I wasn't impressed, how we did get to see solid footage in the birdcage before Cox, but then (doh!) suddenly,  it flicked back  to 'live' and they were just about all loaded in the stalls! No look at them coming around to stalls etc.. sigh

sigh, if I didn't have a rather large collection of racing photo shit!! I be gone! :(  currently I find a Saturday in front of Trackside often turns into a waterboarding session... rave over...

Can any explain what's the point of going back to the studio to listen to Guy and Emily?  They only talk.  They don't actually show anything like a speed map etc.  Having a studio presenter is so old school.  The Ozzies don't do it for racing.  The Supercars producers don't do it.  All their broadcasting is about the action.  Not watching a couple of people in the studio read from a raceform!!!

Why do you need a studio presenter at all during raceday?

I was not critiquing Trackside 24/7 but rather giving them credit for staying live at MV post race. That was an amazing race. Prognosis looked the likely winner then Via Sistena blew him away in a track record time (over 1 second quicker) that was held previously by none other than Winx. I suggest you reflect on the joy of watching such a performance rather than complaining about presenters

You miss the point.  If they spent less time showing people talking in the Studio you would get what YOU want and that is more time in the field at the races.  Which is what happened after the Cox Plate.

  • 3 weeks later...

One segment hes trying to think hes funny eating an icecream. The next time hes being a buffoon on a rocking horse. What the #$%& has our sports coverage become in NZ? Im embarrassed.

And hes the same on SENZ radio. Most of the time if I switch on theyre talking about pies or how to do a roast! Stephen Donald tried tipping a draw in the first cricket test in Sri Lanka. The venue had seen outright win results in the last 28 tests!!!!
