Up until yesterday Mr Brightside had earnt $15m, won 6 Grp1's and won 45% of the time. Fairly good data to support you don't need them. Plus his form is best at Flemington. In my opinion he would have won without them like he did in September in the Grp 1 Makybe Diva.

"work' means the fastest last 200m of the day beating all coming sprinters even David may have given Ben a tingle and suggested he does what his father did before him When I was chatting to Colin in a well known stud farm's G & T Bar at the Trentham sales circa 1982, it turns out he was, if not the first, certainly one of the first to introduce Blinkers to Australia See if you can get a connection to the spirit world if you want confirmation or maybe ask Davo and/or Benny, who are PROPER horsemen Good luck

Perhaps but did it really make a difference? His last 200m might have been quick but they ran 1:36 for a Grp 1 on a Good 4 track. The maidens at Riccarton ran 0.8 of a second slower on a Soft 6!!!
Chief Stipe
The other interesting aspect of the race was Mr Brightside wasn't tasked with dragging the field up to a lunatic tearaway Pride of Jenni.
Special Agent
8 minutes ago, Chief Stipe said: Perhaps but did it really make a difference? Maybe to the horse. He may have felt a superior being for part or all of the race. Not everything relates to speed. Sometimes it's more attitude. And sometimes it's not long lasting thus the reluctance to use blinkers until you think necessary.
The Centaur
There are occasions where BLINKERS ON can be a convenient reason to excuse a form reversal. Example say a horse has had a virus and been treated right up till raceday with injections. Have you ever heard a trainer say "The injections turned the form around" NO !... I thought not. "The eighth Group 1 honour for the son of Bullbars was a very special win for the stable, which never lost faith despite Mr Brightside’s recent defeats. Will Hayes said the blinkers were actually father David’s idea... “The old man in Hong Kong suggested it, but it’s a team effort and Mr. Brightside represents our team so well,” he said." So it appears, to the experts, his form had tapered off, now resurrected again Thanks Dad but special thanks to Pop, who first imported them to Australia

As for the journalist hyperbole you leave out the rest of the article... Will Hayes said the blinkers were actually father David’s idea, and though he and J.D. were nervy before the jump, it all worked out – just. “The old man in Hong Kong suggested it, but it’s a team effort and Mr. Brightside represents our team so well,” he said. “It was always a flight risk, and I can tell you, me and JD breathed a nice sigh of relief – we were standing next to each other when he left the gates so well. It was, ‘oh, thank goodness’. “I'd like to say it was an easy watch after that, but it certainly wasn’t.

Mr Brightside would probably have won without them just as he did in the Makybe Diva Stakes over the same distance at the same track in September with essentially an identical field! Ben's a very nervy type of personality, as opposed to his Dad and Pop Pop would've been on his shoulder reminding him of MB's "recent average form" You cant beat Pop's experience

The 4th in the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley over 2000m. The fact is Mr Brightside has never won past 1600m. I'm not sure you know what you are talking about.

But the little bit of 'focus forward' (or more likely not seeing what Willow was doing as much as normal) gave him a few metres better excelleration/ concentration ... call it what you like. It still worked. go Mr B . hezza beauty 59 minutes ago, Thomass said: “He travelled a lot better in the blinkers today. Probably would of Won This race too? If ONlY they put Blinkers on FANGIRL 🙄. what could of been but wasn't . 🤣😂 . she was a very nice close 3rd though. The Queensland Trainer Golan a very smart man , with putting Blinkers on ANTINO got 2nd instead . 😋🏆😎

Chief Stipe
@Gammalite and @Thomass in my opinion blindfolding a horse is a desperate option. Mr Brightside didn't need blinkers. His form showed that. Now the question is will he wear them next start? @Thomass what is your recommendation?

Was he saying 'Bella Nipotina' would of got the 'Darley Sprint' yesterday too with Blinkers maybe ? Left on her own out wide just a slight drop in concentration late on. They helped your old TA mate Imperatriz win a few sprints? although she didn't have them on in the Darley last November when she powered to Victory lol. 😂😁 maybe you're on to something Chief ?
