Noms are not in for the Railway on 25 January. However the Future market is up and Captured By Love was a recent addition to the market. Opened at 12's now 8's.
Huey
Why do the dummy NZ jocks bother riding for this outfit? You're going to get ditched for an Aus jock all the time.

You know (I assume you do) that the Railway at Ellerslie over 1200m can be a full on affair. So as a Trainer what do you do?

The real fact of the matter is they don't trust/rate a single kiwi jock apart from the recently retired Bosson.

The word from one who WOULD know ( and I'm not saying who ) is that the system is to blame. Which concurs with my thoughts on the 30 pages of crap on another thread.

You'd think that a one page application signed off by say a responsible trainer and the riding mentor would be more than sufficient.

Name those that can ride at 52.5 kg and who are available i.e. don't already have stable or specific horse commitments? As for not trusting a single kiwi jock Te Akau seem to have a bit of time for Wiremu Pinn who rides most of their horses. @Huey you really need to get those blinkers off. I did not think you were this naieve, you really think this stable cdnt have got who they wanted months out , if not it's incredibly poor planning on their behalf ( it isn't they wouldn't be that silly). You really need to evaluate the obsession in 2025 !

You really need to evaluate the obsession in 2025 ! So you can't name any? Typical. The facts are Captured By Love after her 1000 Guineas win had a brief spell to freshen up. Her late summer/early autumn programme (widely publicised) was to head straight to Melbourne to chase some Grp race black type. Kicking off with the Manfred Stakes at Caulfield the same day as The Railway/Karaka Millions night. Hence her not being in the early market for The Railway. Sure it is a late pivot to her programme but I'm sure Matk Walker who knows much more about training horses than you do has a reason. Regardless finding a top kiwi jockey that can ride 52.5 kg that didn't have prior commitments would be a hard ask. But I guess you are going to continue in 2025 going off half cocked on your anti crusade.
Gammalite
These Aussie jocks are incredible. the top 20 or so. They have 'Valets' who prepare All their gear every week . they had a segment on TV with this bloke who does 3 of the jockeys equipment , getting to the races to lay it all out and hour before the first, with all the I's dotted and t's slashed. has everything calculated to the 'nth' degree for every race, including details on every aspect and covering every senario possible , including spares and replacements. wet and dry weather , was mind boggling how good they are. The Jockey barely has to think. when he has staff this good. He can just go straight into race strategy mode . Craig Williams near the best strategy rider on the planet too. will be winning on CBL . A great jockey choice for anyone anywhere they can get him. Willow is supreme athlete. (to go with that supreme horse) a winning combo.

We all know how good they are , but like spending squillions on expensive yearlings it just distorts the local content, TA deserve little applause for what they achieve with the resources they have in NZ. Aus I take my hat off to them it's a level playing field for the resources they have.

I imagine it isn't any easier running a large racing stable with 200 horses and 130 staff than it is for someone who has 10 horses. Are you arguing we should have more Te Akau's? Anyway rather than give you more oxygen for your favourite knock the stable obsession let's get back to the topic Who would YOU have chosen to ride at 52.5 kg in The Railway? I don't expect an answer because you always shoot from the hip without any prior thought.
Chief Stipe
Shame there aren't a few more Ozzie Jockeys at Ellerslie today. These sit and sprint race patterns are hopeless.
