I love it when JJ and Leigh know they're wrong, so they comment about the poster as opposed to the post.

Entain's shares have clearly risen in recent months.

Actually the same price they were 11 months ago and up 10% the last 6. But yeahh, when they are wrong, facts are aside and they resort to the name calling and derogatory remarks about posters

14.7%.  I remember suggesting to you it was a good time to buy about 6 months ago.  They've risen 22% in the last month!!

As anyone with an ounce of intelligence would know, if ENTAIN fails then NZ Racing fails.  There would be no delight for anyone passionate about NZ Racing if their shares WERE heading South.

So good news that they ARE heading North and that the analysts are saying buy, buy, buy.

As for the regulatory headwinds everyone in the industry is facing them.  TABCORP isn't performing very well and you wouldn't get many ENTAIN shares if you swapped them 0.66 vs 749.

Yeahh, I bought some! Annual profit about 1 billion pounds. Why do people think they are going to fall over? They could buy and sell NZ racing with their staff Christmas fund. Yes, they have some regulatory issues, but I think NZ racing has a lot more to worry about and get on with than whether the Entain share price is going up or down.

More importantly do they pay a divvy twice yearly, shares very long term, if you buy them, store em away for the long haul.

Yes they have a progressive dividend policy.  Next dividend yield is projected to be 5%.  Obviously you are not a trader i.e. didn't sell at the last high and bought back in at the recent low.

I did ask the question? 'how protected are our fund$ as the $$$ in our TAB acc?' :)

((I can hear the violins playing in the background!!! ))

tiz a industry and has been 'failing' slowly for 50+ years, very much in 'selling the family silver faze!'  From the cheap seats! I no longer have a decent economic understanding of how well 'things are travelling', way to much smoke and mirrors!!.

Re EntainNZ, its been fascinating to see how they have gone about it! Their dabbling in ownership make for interesting following!  though, the norm is! its rather hard not to be a tad cynical re anything NZ Racing...

BTW, anyone see this?

Entain makes play at one of SkyCity’s revenue streams

Entain, the offshore company that operates the TAB, wants the Government to extend its statutory monopoly to part of SkyCity's business.Minister for Racing Winston Peters unveiled legislation to amend the Racing Industry Act in December. If enacted, TAB NZ's monopoly will be extended to online betting, making it illegal for offshore operators to sell wagers to New Zealanders.

I noticed it.  I was waiting for someone else to notice it.

Yep.  Was waiting for something like this.

That's Entain though, not NZTAB, so won't affect revenue for racing, I don't think, though they've angled it at virtual racing. The monopoly legislation still has a few hurdles anyway. Not sure there's much support from other government departments like the Commerce Commission.

OK, but a step in the wanted direction?

Yes, for Entain, if they can pull it off but only maybe for NZ racing if they do that under the NZTAB banner and revenue accrues to the 50/50 split. NZ racing is now completely reliant on their share of what Entain generates for NZTAB.

The financial analysts haven't listened to @JJ Flash and still say BUY ENTAIN.

Some more perspective:

The 12% drop in share price a week ago on the news of the departure of the CEO recovered in 3 days primarily on the back of Corvex Investment Fund increasing their shareholding.

The share price is up 15% for the last 6 months even on the back of the reported negative news.

ENTAIN is ranked 84 on the FTSE 100 with a market capitalisation of £4.7 billion or in NZ dollars NZD$10.34 billion.  (Fronterra has a Market Cap of NZD$7.2b).
