Forbury
Josh dickie is the most overrated driver you'll ever see I could not even tell you a good race winning drive from him you certainly could pick multiple slaughter jobs he's a very bad driver and certainly a bad trainer he went to Australia and was a total failure and went back to new Zealand to daddy how the telfers employ him as there driver in the north says there intelligence Josh is nothing but a shocking bad driver and judge you wonder why the houses are dominating good trainer and driver unlike stonewell stud
Debs
Couldn't agree more other than to say does anyone actually rate him? Surprised the Telfer's haven't moved on from this relationship yet. They would do so much better with a half decent driver.
Nowornever
Used to be pretty good I thought but since coming back from Aussie the horses do not seem to run for him as much as they used to. He has been beaten on at least a dozen 1.50 telfer favourites in the last ten months. I used to be confident on the telfer runners but not when he is driving them now days.
Forbury
Josh dickie only future is to work where they slaughter live animals that's all he is good for How many winners has he driven at Manawatu over two days? None How many has he slaughtered I have lost count😂The telfers are completely stupid idiot trainers with there driving choices unlike the leading trainer m house 🤣😂

Nowornever
Well he was on six favourites over the two days and ran two thirds with them. You could argue Terry Chmiel is in the same boat in the south. Has had many drives on favourites or near favourite Telfer horses for little result. In fact I have done very well backing against them so far this year. It will be interesting to see if hot favourites Cocktails and Caviar and Akatea can keep their form with Terry driving tomorrow night at Addington. That Akatea race is a great betting race some good value in there and I think Akatea is too short at 1.75.
Gammalite
wow that was amazingly BAD. the Stonewall Lot had 18 starters at Manawatu the 2 days this week (where they run about a slow 60 second last half generally) for a return of 2 x 3rds (from the same horse Captains Secret ) he is the stable star picking up $1000 twice. wow that is such a waste of everyone's time and money ( punters too) that it defies belief . Luckily they have Good filly Stella Rouge at home in the stable with her 2 wins from 3 starts this year , but even with her must be slightly disappointed with the Great Northern Oaks 4th. The man of the moment in this thread Mr Dickie, didn't even finish the race in the GN Oaks with Sweet Maggie Mae. just pulled up 🙄 . John Dunn won with her the week before ? better hands maybe ? The Telfer Barn(s) is very Erratic. lots of runners 'hopping' and 'skipping' during the running quite often too.
Nowornever
Manawatu mainly used as a training ground by the Telfers so I think their horses will improve quite a bit with a few more runs under their belts. Captains Secret reminds me a bit of Semba who had four starts at Manawatu and only won once. It then won a race at Auckland in 1:54 a few starts later and looked a good horse in the making. Yes it has won 3 races but over sprint distances a d then Hawera grass! hasnt done much at Cambridge left handed, so the Bookies obviously know a lot more than the punters, but yes crazy short on the face of it! The other Telfer one that Newmarket mentioned is up against much better horses and trainers? . Cocktails and Cav is only showing $1.90 ?? as well in race 1 😳, And 2 of it's 3 wins were over a year ago. Up against some good trainers like Regan Todd, Mark Jones and Steven Reid in the first race , CandC seems only a runners chance?. TakethePlunge (No 7) looks the one to beat for me with Ricky May on, from 1 then 2 and 5 for the First4.

Can't they get them fit at home anymore ?

I have to admit,i don't like backing horses he drives ,but sometimes i do and sometimes they run really well and sometimes they don't. like he drove debrief to win at cambridge recently and that horse obviously ran for him, which pleased me. and from what i've seen on trackside,he seems to be a good thinker and obviously a hard worker. But,still hes not a favorite of mine. I wouldn't blame his driving for the disappointing results of the telfer horses at manawatu. They do seem to have a lot of horses who go ok,but who need more experience,as nowornever has pointed out.Punters need to factor that in.Really i did think some of their horses that were haeavily backed at manawatu didn't deserve to be so short on form. Iron brigades was a deserving favorite, but his manners were poor,as it usually beings from a stand but broke both times. What i've noticed about the telfer horses is they seem to improve when they come to the south island. but the odd thing is that improvement can come within a short space of time.. Maybe they get a different pre race treatment from a canterbury vet. actually something i always factor in for that stable is if they go to southland they seem to improve even more. Its not the quality of horse they run against, theres a definite improvemnet and you can see it in their body language. They run down there like the cullen horsers do in the bigger races. e.g. general jen for cullen. also the telfer trained horses always give the impression that not much time is spent of standing start practice. Its like they are used to going out onto the track for training, warmed up ,turned aroiund quickly and then come off the track quickly. i guess they would have a lot of horses to work each day and have to get through them all. Telfers were winning races in the North when they set up their stable under Amanda in Christchurch area. They were on fire as soon as they started racing in the South Island and was big competition for the All Stars and The Dunn’s! For some reason they are still winning races but no where near as dominant as they first were. They also do have a very large experienced staff roster, hate to be paying the wages bill. Think they must have a very large number of horses on their books as well, as have a lot (large number) of different starters each year. Cocktails and Caviar won well in the first race in the end, and driven real well too . Chmiel did a great job and held them all out by a length easy in the end. TakethePlunge only a photo print out of 2nd after going wide last half , but only 4th . go well with a good draw . Blair getting some wins at Auckland already for the Cullens and MarK Jones too. getting well warmed up for the Allstars drives by the look of it ? 😎
