KFC 1974.jpg

Geez @Rangatira that brings back memories!!!

Was a teenager in Hokitika and we didn't have any franchise takeaways.  Did KFC start in Riccarton Road during the mid-70's?

Anyway one Friday night the team met up in Revell Street - not sure how as no mobile phones in those days - just party lines.

We were a bit bored with local pubs (under-age as we were) so one of the guys had souped up his escort (had 4 carburettors or something) and we'd heard about KFC opening in Riccarton Road, Christchurch.

Some bright spark said "let's go get KFC"!

250kms later we were lined up at KFC!!!

Drove straight home.

Over breakfast the next morning Mum asked 'what did you do last night?"  Oh just hung out with some mates and got takeaways

Distance has never worried me.

by the way tabman, hows imperial command going in aussie.Do you think i was right about that one or has he just been having a long spell.lol.

Actually imperial command was back racing tonight.

I thought i had better watch it.

To my great surprise it was a $2 favorite .

its started favorite in all 5 starts over there.

But punters got burnt again,as it started the score up in a mad angry gallop and was still like that when they said go.

oh well,at least its many followers have hope, as its made it back to the races and some think theres a reason for keeping the faith.

Got the money just now in the first at Maryborough. blew $1.50 out to $2.10 . Reckon those that were burnt the other day when he galloped weren't gunna fall for that again 😁

Maryborough look after the trotters and sometimes have the entire Racecard for squaregaiters.  today it's 5 trots and 3 pacing races.

Good bet in the 5th for you Mr Galah. young kiwi lad Tristan Larsen on the Backmarker JOHNS BOY.  You told me about him last Summer when he turned up in Victoria from the deep South of NZ. and he promptly won his first 3 runs ok.

Last start Johns Boy beaten a nose by Kate Gath on a handy trotter in the Warragul Cup . they got home in 57 seconds this field today wouldn't trot a 57 second half mile on the back of the truck lol. 😎

He starts out the back on his own off 30m , but that's cool . no-one to interfere with him there. He'll win this at about 6-1 odds all going well 😉. well worth a tenner.

We had a trotter at Albion yesterday that looked a good thing named IZARRA . she won easy first up in QLD about 2 weeks ago and looks a real goer. Was off 50m handicap yesterday 2nd up and driver Chloe Butler didn't muck around and  was in front after just 500m !! 😳 thought that was particularly good , in full field,  especially with a red-back on it lol. went 57 her last half so just left em' to it. 😁💰   will keep winning that one for sure.

i've been out today, but just had a look at your tip of johns boy,2nd,beaten  by a nose. the place dividend of $2.70 nice so i hope you backed it each way. i will keep an eye on the trotter you mention. Actually you've been tipping gus to win the interdominion. The way he came home last week i think you could be right.he certainly went as good as oscar bonavena, i have seen him break a few times in the past, but he does seem in the zone at the moment.

As to imperial command.

yes he won,but I  feel a bit sorry for the horse as he seems to try hard ,but will the trainer keep him going if he doesn't improve?

Watching todays replay,he currently looks like he did over here in his last couple of runs. Not in the right head space and trotting like there may be a reason for that.I saw nothing today to make me change my mind about what i said, when i said  i couldn't understand why so many people wanted to pay so much money for him on gavel house.

Today he was in a 0-3 win race and i thought he just fell in.

He again looking risky early but managed to hold it together when very hard held in the score up,then was handed the lead on a plate, set a slow pace with a 66 second middle quarter, then clung on,appearing to be all out to do so. There were 7 starters in that race with the outsider who broke and gave him a 50m start, still challenging hard when it broke at the 150m.

i will keep watching to see if he can improve, and yes he did win,but i think maybe he needs spelled for a year or so to see if it helps.
