Huey Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Isn't it sad we are talking about the slot race & not the Oaks or Derby. Is the Oaks on same day as slot race? Quote

It must have been in work since June and raced every month until the following March. 10 months!! Most trainers work on two 6 race start cycles with a spell in between. In OZ they have the horses at near peak for those 6 starts. Yeah, in most cases that's spot on. However, they don't have to dodge around unsuitable programming that can mean too long between races, or else races all on top of each other. There are reasons other than stakemoney that lead to horses being sent over the ditch, a factor you have alluded to on more than one occasion. In the case of P.T., I don't think that particular race was ever factored in, in the beginning. It would have taken a very strong-minded trainer indeed to have said, no, she's going to the paddock! Spoke to Sam, she thinks she had been injured but she isn't sure to what extent. Also thought they weren't interested in breeding from her as she wasn't good enough! Quote

It was moved to be 3 weeks earlier with some weird logic that fillies could then run in the Oaks and the Derby 1 Quote
hesi Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Here is a question or two for the experts then Would horses like Wahid, Jimmy Choux and Silent Achiever, who had shown good form in the months leading up to the Derby in 1600m races, and who were then aimed at the Derby with runs in typical lead up races like the Waikato and Avondale Guines, would they have gone on to run in the Derby or NZB Kiwi if it had of existed on the same day as the Derby. Would Excellent have run in the Derby or Kiwi under the same scenario. I see, he who never had an original thought, getting ideas for threads from this site. I note Chief Stipe, that there is hope for you yet lol, with the thread on this site getting more views and a lot more replies. Admittedly 12 out of 18 have been mine 1 Quote

hesi Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Remember also, that even though people are saying Well Written is a home run, and we think she is very good and probably is. There are a lot of 3-year-olds in Aus, still to show their hand. Evaporate and Perfumist were late additions and ran well. Ironically the first nominated , Domain Ace ran last Quote
