Forbury Posted Sunday at 02:07 PM Posted Sunday at 02:07 PM Calling someone a "star" means they are exceptional, inspiring, and excel in a particular area, shining brightly with talent, success, or a positive, attention-grabbing quality, like a lead actor, top athlete, or brilliant student, symbolizing hope, guidance, and achieving big dreams. It's a metaphorical compliment for someone outstanding, full of potential, or doing something wonderful. Young driving star Crystal Hackett has the perfect opportunity to kick off 2026 as she ended last season at Cambridge today.this is certainly something she is not! It's absolutely laughable to say such lies.as soon as someone else drives Claude it wins😆😂I have to admit she's is a star at slaughtering a horse we all witnessed that in her last 10+ drives.just on New year's night social distancing royal petit belle niege last 2 starts and she's one race from her last thirty plus drives some star she drives as good as her mother absolutely shit 1 Quote

But Crystal is still young and gets drives on her parents nice trotters , and also for one of the best trainers the World has ever seen in Barry Purdon . (and training partner Scott) so you do expect positive results in that case. For the record she has got slightly more beaten past 3 years , so she's not quite a 'shooting star' like Carter Dalgety in the Junior ranks , but not exactly a 'Fading Star' like dad Bernie yet either ? 😂😋. Crystal's Seasonal driving stats show:- 2023 200 drives for 33 wins ( or about one win every 6 drives) 2024 302 drives for 43 wins (or about one win every 7 drives) 2025 433 drives for 56 wins (or about one win every 8 drives) 2026 5 drives for 1 win (or about one win every 5 drives) best stats yet Forbury ? get on board mate 🤣😎🏆 1 Quote
the galah Posted Sunday at 08:56 PM Posted Sunday at 08:56 PM as to the udr's If you look at the udr's of the junior drivers, you would think the north island drivers are better than the south. But they obviously aren't. The small fields totally skews the udr's in the north island drivers favour . Comparing udr's for any north island trianer, driver to someone from canterbury is like comparing apples to pears. They are very different. as to forbury's comments about crystal hackett. Well i think she isn't driving as good tactically as she could from a punters perspective, but from a trainers perspective its perfecctly fine because in the small fields they have up there shes still earning money most weesk and its no big deal to run a place ,when a smarter drive could have won, because theres always another race with a small field next week . 2 Quote

Beaten a head by the $1.90 favourite. A stunning drive by Crystal to defeat Mark and Barry Purdon Group 1 winning trotters OscarB and 'Meant To Be' by lengths ? she must of nearly fell out of the cart to beat home some great trotters like those with a mid class mare.? 😎 well done Crystal. Mark Purdon might be too old now ??🤣😂🤭😉 Congrats to a very nice bloke in Bernie Hackett (Crystals dad) too. Quinella in the trotting flying stakes. Taking the win with multimillionaire John Greens trotter. a very deserved effort for top efforts year in , year out. Bernie, Michelle and Crystal sure have won heaps of trots and get them going well . Tonight they Made OscarB , who is a Dominion H'cap winner and was 3rd in the last Interdominion Grand Final look '2nd rate' . that is quite a result !! 🏆 1 Quote

I also had a small bet on jasinova in an earlier race ,driven by hackett and thought that was a poor tactical drive, but thats the norm up there from most of the drivers. You watch nelson races and you can understand each drivers tactics. Up there, its the opposite. So many of the races are just follow them around type races and wait for next week. tonight just the same. that race merlin just won. Punters again showed they have little interest in particpating in small uncompetitive races like that. And that is supposedly their best product.Very sad really. The tote turnover on that race, even with the advantage of what is normally a prime betting time, was worse than even the 6 horse non win trot at nelson. It was such a bore of a race as well. Punters see it that much that they just turn off the north island product.. i read recently on the hrnz website the betting person at hrnz,mr peden said the northern initaive that hrnz has invested so heavily in is paying dividends. He used a one off increase in turnover on the recent cambridge meeting where betting was up 23%.,although even he noted they had 20% more races that day. That bloke talks more bullshit than anyone i've ever read. They haven't mentioned the Auckland cup betting since on hrnz website.you can guarante they haven't,because it would prove what i just said about what mr peden says. why do they cherry pick and mislead to justify their decision making. Its really just rather sad. 2 Quote

I actually added up the tote figures for the Auckland Cup, $61000, plus if you add the Quaddie and the treble in it reached $100000, win pool $11600, when the win and place on small fields is poor it can be redirected to the exotics, Omakaus main race I think topped 20 grand, win pool and there was a race at Cromwell, not the main one on Tuesday topped 16, I think that was just after 5 so some finishing work mau have had a wager, sometimes timing is everything. Just out of curiosity can you bet on fixed odds on course or is that reserved for website punters only, the tote odds will always be displayed on the on course monitors, but fixed odds change all the time so what you might want you might not get if you stand in a que. pete cook Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago You can bet on fixed on-course. You have to ask for it and sometimes the operator will ask if you want it. Quote
