the galah Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) can't say i saw much of them last night as married at first sight australia was on ,but i did catch parts of most of the races from palmerston north. i must say,the blokes from out the gate have a good sense of humour. previously i have pointed out how bad a tipster aaron white is whenever cambridge races are on and how the out the gate team reluctantly kept the faith with whites tips. A white had a knack for tipping them the one horse in each trotting race that you knew gallops 100% of the time.it was his specuiality for months. Each time saying after the race, well ... will win races if only it trots all the way and the out the gate blokes alway bit their tounge. well last night ,after the last race justin evans, the commentator commented how his tips had gone poorly all night(hes actually a pretty good tipster normally, at the gallops anyway) so when justin evans said that, they crossed to the out the gate boys in the studion, the first bloke saying, well thanks aaron for your tips tonight, the second bloke said, yes, its not often we can get a 100% strike rate in all the races, even if it is for galloping in every race, then the 3rd bloke commented, well i'm looking forward to the return to our cambridge tipster after tonight. their sense of humour is what helps make them entertaining Edited February 13 by the galah 1 1 Quote

Anyway , best stick to the South Island where the skies are bluer and the grass is greener for horses and Punters lol. Addington away soon . looking at some Last Start Winners. Let's See if these horses are capable of scoring a double ?? Two wins in a row to win todays Multi 👍💰 A very hard feat to achieve but we'll see if any are capable lol . Race 1 has Four last start winners so we'll leave that out , and go for races 2 to 8 inclusive. Race 9 has 3 of the trotters that won last time so we'll skip that too. Race 2/ He Ain't Fakin $3.40 , Race 3/ Scottlyn Crunch $3.60, Race 4/ Ukraine $1.75 , Race 5/ Warrior Chief $6.50, Race 6/ Pinseeker $1.55, Race 7/ Mr Love $2.10, Race 8/ General Gen $5.00 Taken a few trebles with this lot to Go 2 on the Bounce, and along with the 7 SPOT Multi for all 7 to win is worth $2265-1 . Hope they can all double down on their last starts victories !! lol 😁🍻💰 1 Quote
Brodie Posted February 13 Posted February 13 How did they do ? what was the pool and how much did they win or lose? Quote

Taupiri Wonder Posted February 13 Posted February 13 2 hours ago, Brodie said: How did they do ? what was the pool and how much did they win or lose? Pool approx $23k.Final Balance $7k. Justin Evans bets at Palmy ( with benefit of form at track 2 days earlier) worst ever, abysmal.Every horse galloped at some point! Quote
Taupiri Wonder Posted February 13 Posted February 13 They actually had live multi bet at Addington Greyhounds on final race to collect $13k needing dog to finish Top 2...Murphy's Law,it finished 3rd. 1 Quote

Brodie Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) It was worth a try by Trackside to attract new punters, but from most peoples comments it probably hasnt? The only wins they have had has been mainly on the greyhounds and they are being finished shortly! Personally do not think they have the right people presenting, except Blake who wasnt originally on the panel to pick winners? They have been treated very well by the TAB by gifting them bonus cash etc. and sllowing them to wager what they want, and yet some other punters are severely restricted to pathetic amounts ! The other hypocritical action is the way they advertise Bet Responsibly! Punting large on dogs, gallops, trots, sports etc all over the place is not betting responsibly at all! At the end of the day hope the show works and they will do what they will until the funds run out! Edited February 13 by Brodie Quote

They should come out ahead long term if they get enough of the bonus dollars to spend i think even if they come anywhere near break even its a winner for betcha. i assume the people that invest in the pools gat paid out back into their betcha accounts(i assume) and then keep playing away through the week ,on the punt themselves, with what they got back, even if its not much .And a lot of those people would probably never put money in as regular as they do with the out the gate crew. The people who invest in the out the gate concept don't appear to be your knowledgable harness racing fans,so getting that type of customer engaged is a plus. Now,i've always said the biggest problem for harness racing is the harness product served up on thursday nights. cambridge is at the low end of a lot of things. Its not as competitive as anywhere else and i often think even some of the favorites ,if drawn bad ,simply go around for a quiet run. Theres also too many negative drives on horses with cahnces and the oversight by the stipes there self perpetuates what i've just said. And of course the over saturation of north island racing contributes significantly to watering down the quality of theat product. then the manawatu product,i think it a more competitive product, but the form can be quite inconsistent i guess because horses who travel and who back up within a couple of days away from home, often don't perform as consistently. Its the same as the likes of the west coast racing. and because of that, you have the out the gate crew betting on harness racing because thats what they are suppoosed to do,but its a common theme for them that you don't often get a fair run for their money. so,even though harness racing is being showcased to a different customer from the previous thursday night follwers, its the quality of tyhe harness product provided on those nights which can paint the industry in a negative way. Thats not the out the gate peoples fault. also, obviously many regulart trackside harness followers seem to dislike the concept. On one hand they accept that less and less people were watching, evenn professing to not watch themseleves ,then they complain they don't like something new, even though they weren't really watching it anyway. people can be hard to please sometimes. Newmarket Posted Saturday at 10:27 PM Posted Saturday at 10:27 PM They should draw a couple of punters names out that had a bet… let them have a go on a bonus bet, if it comes in half to punter, half to comp 1 Quote

Brodie Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) Not sure what the final balance was tonight as they are very quiet when they get a hiding! started with over $18k but with no greyhound racing they were always going to struggle on past experience! They were all over the place with their betting with Brendan Popplewell putting nearly $5k on the nose of a galloper in Hong Kong ffs? They encourage this bet responsibly but that obviously doesnt mean the presenters on out the gate have to abide by this? With respect they clearly have not been chosen by the TAB to bet responsibly and pick winners! When you can not make money on NZ racing and they choose to wager overseas rather than supporting our local product, it is telling you something! Seems odd that people continue to put money into the OTG betting pool rather than wanting to pick themselves? Anyway, each to their own and good luck to them, but seriously it is not painting a great picture with this carefree, it isnt my money, so blow it attitude! Edited 15 hours ago by Brodie Quote

They have a good mix. And they have a lot of well known sporting guests on,that are entertaining. i enjoy the banter the out the gate people have with their guests.they even had hamish carter as a guest last night.Seeing those guests and showing said guests can enjoy things related to the racing industry,is sort of refreshing and i think thats part of why it works for me. A one off show once a week is just the right amount of out the gate type format.i wouldn't want any more of it myself, but i like it the way it is. Edited 2 hours ago by the galah Quote
mikeynz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Have to admit I really enjoy out the gate.....due to the fact I don't watch it😁 2 Quote
Brodie Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Think it is good that the TAB/Trackside tried something new to attract new punters. Just not a great format the way they run it! Why do they have to have 3 or 4 men with limited ability to pick winners, standing all night behind desks with laptops open? Surely if it is meant to be appealing they would be far better sitting on lounge suites or recliners in a more relaxed manner?? The betting overseas thousands of miles away on horses that they have no knowledge of rather than the local product is just showing what ill-disciplined they are as punters! The Out The Gate presenters are given massive favouritism over other restricted punters but I suppose that is because they know that they are not going to win that often? Free bonus bets, cash, unlimited limits, just shows how they treat punters differently! Good punting over the weekend! Edited 1 hour ago by Brodie 1 Quote
