Glad i don't drive a diesel. If i did,i'd only be able to afford to make it to the end of the drive, then i'd have to turn back. Edited May 21 by the galah 1 Quote
Gammalite Posted May 21 Posted May 21 3 hours ago, Chief Stipe said: I gather that you can't actually find any "world misery" related directly to Trumps war on Iran? well there were some places doing it tough , especially say a major population country like India , with many closures of business and factories etc., leading to hardships for a lot of people. Some giant oil Super tankers have squeezed out of the Strait of Hormuz recently ( for China and Korea markets) as allowed by the Iran allowances. Luckily Australia ( and NZ too I would imagine) have gained some tanker supply from USA , with tankers crossing the Pacific, to supplement our usual 80% Asia distribution from Singapore, Brunei , etc and keeping stocks at the one month supply level still . otherwise things might have gone quite miserable . I looked up India as it has a billion people to look after .here's a snippet. . Space The Iran war has severely impacted India by triggering an energy and inflation shock. Because India imports about 90% of its oil and gas, the conflict and disruptions at the Strait of Hormuz have sent crude and domestic fuel prices soaring, weakened the rupee, and disrupted critical commercial industries like ceramics, glass, and aviation 1 Quote

the galah Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 so the price of oil is on the way back up.Like thats a surprise.Not. everything that was predicted early in this thread has happened. the iran war one of the dumbest decisons ever made in history by a USA president. all trump achieved was to close the strait of hormuz which had been open prior to the war.And its the same again today.Iran saying again its closed and will fire on anything that doesn't get their approval and take the correct route.Trump saying its open, but his definition of open must be its open, because iran lets a small number of ships pass. How dumb does the usa think everyone is. and trumps managed to strengthen the support the regime in iran now has, Previously it was very unpopular and even still is,but its popularity has gone up considerably, partly due to what the regime had been saying all alomng, that israel and the usa want to destroy iran, including the iives of the people who live there.Trump previous comments like wanting to wipe out their civilisation a real winner of a comment for the regime, to ram home the point. and of course trump still wants them to stop trying to produce a nuclear weapon, thats the nuclear weapons that trumps intel agenices had said they were never trying to produce anyway. So now the iranians believe they have won the war and are thinking, well why should they promise anything ,as all they get in return are broken promises . so because of all that, trump is pissed off that hes being laughed at and his presidency legacy is in ruins,so he's taking out his frustration by more bombing,or as he puts it,' bomb the hell out of them' again. how trump ever evolved into such a loser is sort of mind boggling, given the support he used to have. meanwhile, our media and all the western media are upping the coverage of the ukraine /russia war. Notice how whenever it getting covered, russia is bombing and killing civilians and ukraine is never doing that,no they are the what the media thinks are the good guys, instead just hitting oil refineries way inside russia. its like the media is pushing this narrative that ukraine is winning again. Its so ridiculous. just a small byline to our medias coverage that russia can hit whatever targets it wants these days with its ballistic missiles as ukraine has next to no air defence against them and hasn't even been able to warn people to go to shelters recently as they're not picking them up on radar in time. and theres talk of a possible big push from russia on top of their strategy to target what ever working infastructure ukaine has left with the intent of totally demoralising a totally demoralised ukraine population who for such a long time now would happily have given up the land area russia wanted so they could have peace, but zelenski and the west won't allow that.'. So the wars draggs on,russia has indicated they may as well take some more of ukraine territory to give them a bigger buffer for secuiruty reasons. Both russians and ukranians are sick of the war,the only difference is the russians still have faith putin knows what hes doing, whereas the majority of the ukrainian population doesn't with zelensky, but zelensky is just a puppet for the west and they don't care really care what the ukranian people want. Doesn't realtae much to racing, other than oil prices will effect people here again which will impact racing, maybe not as bad as it was a couple of months ago,but the impact will be felt again going forward. The worlds run by people who seem to be idiots. Quote
the galah Posted July 16 Author Posted July 16 (edited) so in the last day the usa has bombed the hell out of iran, the justification they gave being they want to prevent iran attacking civilian ships who are attempting to pass through the strait of hormuz without irans approval. thats on the same day that the usa attacked and disabled a civilian ship that was not even trying to pass through the usa blockade. In other words the usa is doing the very thing that they say iran can't do,the difference being the usa attacked a ship not attempting to break the blockade, whereas iran limits their attacks to ships that do attempt to. and now the usa is increasing their presence around cuba. Poor old cuba where the usa has been making life as miserable as they can for all the cuban population, but the poor bugga's still refuse to let donald take them over and put a puppet in who will do as they are told by donald and his mates. meanwhile in gaza israel continue to kill dozens of innocents every week, thats the gaza where the war is over accordimg to the usa. then in lebanon, israel have completely destroyed 60 towns and villages ,many since the recent ceasefire, flattening all houses and building,,in effect destroying everything 6% of lebanese population owned, those people now have nothing to return to.. But on the plus side, apparently israel has agreed to withdraw from areas of lebanon, only catch being,it wouldn't take them long to withdraw from those proposed areas, because they're not actually there anyway. The claytons withdrawal. gone are the days when the usa seemed to be the good guys. the galah Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 (edited) well fuel prices still significantly impacting everyone, including those in the harness industry and punters. things gone pretty much as was predicted right at the start of this thread. what do trainers charge their owners to get to tracks like oamaru. Or oamaru trainers charge to get to say rangiora or winton. anyone taking a horse on their own to oamaru from christchurch would have to be paying close to $300 in pertol wouldn't they.I suppose many have diesel, but thats gone up even more % wise. I was quite surptised oamaru still had reasonable numbers last week. Like, wouldn't owners prefer to race closer to home. Thats something i just don't get. A bit like the motukararara meeting going to geraldine. Wouldn't that cost all owners from canterbury where most of the horses come from an extra $50-100. with stakes being cut seemingly around 10% so far,i don't how that won't have an impact long term. and as i predicted a while back, you would almost guarantee trainers will keep their float fees up when the fuel prices drop in a few months,Thats just how things work. meanwhile donald trump seems to getting dumber and dumber. He really seems to have no idea the damage hes doing to himself. Just this week he called people who decided going to college was not for them and left,as really dumb people.really the inference he made was anyone without a college degree is dumb if you read what he said.. His main base used to be white people without college degrees, but now that group is the group where he has lost the most support because they are struggling and he doesn't seem to care anymore. So whats he do to get their support back, insults them. At least hes consistent i suppose. Edited August 23 by the galah Quote

He’s made billions from the presidency while screwing in USA economy and slowing down the world economy. The most corrupt president in history. corrupt. I suppose your right.. If he had just kept his election promises, the usa and the world economies would be so much better off.Instead he lied to the public about his no foregn wars promise,as he obviously had decided pre elction that he would do what his pro israel donors wanted, which was the opposite of what he told the public. So i guess he has been bought and paid for.so suppose hes corrupt. Their economy seems to be close to tanking. they always said once their 5 year bond went above 5%,they wouldn't be able to service their over 40 trillion debt. apparently they had borrowings at much lower % that have recently or are about to mature.and because theres no longer the confidence in the usa, they are having to pay the higher interest rates to get enough money in to cover just the interest on their massive debt., Trumpand his idiotic war has resulted in a massive increase in the need for current and future military spending, and thats only made things worse. Some are even predicting they will have to borrow just to service the interest. In other words borrow to pay for the interest on the borrowing as well as the debt. So ,it seems most likely they will have to print more money, which will lead to higher inflation. some say, either trump simply gives up and admits he was an idiot and all he achieved was world chaos and enabled israel to commit geonocide.but that seems unlikely because bis ego is too big,so most likely the financial crisis will make him do it. They say the clock is ticking, its inevitable. So ,what that means is nz will be impacted down the track,as they will most likely have to pay higher interest rates to service the borrowings on our debt. Trump really has been a disaster for all the world, except his mates who have profited from the war and israel. Edited August 24 by the galah Quote

All they are is buildings that store computer servers. If they create jobs isn’t that good?. Everything else he has done is disastrous for the USA but incredibly lucrative for his own family. Why did Saudi Arabia give him a $400m 747 and also invest $2 billion in Jarod Cushners equity fund?.. A company called Vulcan Elements got a $620m government defence contract. That company is backed by Donald Trump Jr equity business 1789 Capital. Four other companies associated with Trumps sons have received government contracts worth millions of dollars. 1 Quote

But of greater concern to everyday people throughout the world, including us in nz,the price of oil is spiking and will continue to rise now the houthis have taken control of the water way that controls trade and oil supply between the red sea and the suez canal. poor old donald and the usa don't seem to have anticipated that. boy oh boy is the usa a joke or what. now they're saying they want the likes of saudi arabia and israel to go to war with the houthis ,because the usa isn't capable of doing it because they're too strecthed with iran. donald and his billionaire mates might finally be losing control of manipulating the markets to keep the pricve of oil down. Nothing but rich men playing god with everyday peoples lives and not caring. hopefully now the price of petrol will start going up again and really hit those dumb arse americans in the pocket, they willpunish the republican party like never before.
