Newmarket Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I assume he is not looking for many outside drives? Thought he might have got on a few good ones, but seems he has been on a few slow ones. Maybe a few more drivers chasing drives and also not having Tims stable drives. Be good to get Ants on a few good ones. Also, regarding Tim Butt, what is he up to now? What a great run stable had a few years back. Quote

What a great run stable had a few years back. retired to Brisbane from the Hussle and bustle of Menangle life, so his son could take over the team , just North of Brisbane over Bayside. Tim probably goes fishing all the time while Riley works the team. They win some mid week races, and had Swayzee here for a while too. but don't win much. Swayzee won 4 races in the 2 years of trying up here for them in 26 starts , and usually when Riley didn't drive him. Riley actually quit driving the team after that and they use the local professionals since lol. Swayzee ran last at Redcliffe (a bush track) in his last start for them exactly 3 years ago to the day nearly. and had been unplaced for his last 8 starts for them, against very low class opponents too lol 😂 , then Grimson took him over for Boots and the rest is history in the making. 2 x New Zealand Cup wins , etc etc . 1 Quote

But anthony butt not driving quite up to his best just yet. Tactically hes still the same, but i get the impression, that while he knows the form, its not to the level he will in a month or two.So i think hes still fine tuning that of his oppostion and the horses he drives. i think its a bit like ricky may. He's still got it,but he too took a few weeks to come back into his form, but now mays back to his best, hes as good as hes always been.. So no reason to think butt can't hit his straps and have a good run of form at some point, but i don't think hes there just yet. Also butt will build up some loyalty from trainers as time goes by. Trainers and owners don't just switch drivers overnight. so that too takes a bit of time. Edited April 9 by the galah 1 Quote
Nowornever Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Josh Dickie also not as good since he came home in my opinion. Anthony should go close on Allamericanplayer as it is the best horse in that race. If he doesn't lead it might need a good drive to win. Lets see. 1 Quote

Allamericanplayer definitely down on his best run tonight, never really looked happy. As outstanding as Ants is..he can't lift them.Am sure when the Spring rolls around and the Telfers bring out there big guns,he'll be sizzling. 1 Quote
Newmarket Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Good to see Ants get a winner tonight. Although… In the trot race, he zoomed up on Donnas Boy a lap from home, speed duel with Kim… she was smart and let him go. Donnas Boy offstride 300m out, but good old Ants rolls off rail to let her through, good old family racing 😁 Then Marketplace… $60k on at $1-18, how many punters had multied with other Favs… Entain would have lost a bundle on f/odds that race. Pathetic race to watch, very slow, Its Tough a superb run. Then Got The Chocolates, absolutely brilliant, and even though i was not too excited about Rowe cup, good run Mr Love, and farewell Oscar. Still a way better drive than Anthony. Amateur driver coulda done better than Anthony. Had miles of space to get behind Kimberly. Better to give it away than keep embarrassing yourself like that. Best days behind him now. 1 Quote

I do laugh when drivers decide to take action when their horse gallops… i am sure if Prestigous was parked, do you think leader would have veered out🫣😗😂, stipes hardly ever question drivers, its worse on smaller tracks with plenty stable runners. 1 Quote

My point there is why did they put oconnell out if they do nothing 2 days prior for a real speed duel.Hard to follow the consistency in the stipes reports. and i notice today they never mentioned commander joe coming off the passing lane which seemed to cost it the win in race 8 and nor did they mention help me not bothering to be pulled out when he had lots of time to do so in race 4. I thought those 2 drives were very odd and thought they should have at least got a mention.Im not saying h douglas or r may should have got a suspension or fine, but they should have got a mentyion as if you backed them, you would wonder . I didn't have a bet in either race. so not talking through my poacket at all. there seems to be a lack of consistency in what happened today if you read the stipes report.in Edited May 10 by the galah 2 Quote
Brodie Posted May 10 Posted May 10 You are correct that there are many inconsistencies, but these have been ongoing for s very long time! Denis O’ Connell bring put out for 6 racing days is not a major penalty bearing in mind how many drives he has! It was a very poor drive by him, but then we would expect nothing less! He obviously is an enthusiast, but he should really should consider whether he should be a professional driver on the track, as he is not up to the required standard! Quote

No point poutting pressure on a horse for the lead on a sit sprinter ,if the elader is'nt going to give you the lead. But its a wonder he didn't argue that he was trying to lead then hand up and that would have been a good tactical drive,so his drive under the circumstances wasn't deserving of a charge. and he gets mentioned yet h douglas in race 8 made a tactical move that cost him by not taking the passing lane and r may in race 4 ,why didn't he pull out when he had the chance.I'm sure both those drivers would hvae been trying, but shouldn't the punter be provided an explanation via the stipes report of the strange tactical decision which definetly cost better placings. those were noticeable drives for anyone watching. 1 Quote
