He won't race that way again? Does Pitty know which way Ascot runs?

The Kings Stand is 1006 meters down the straight.

Enzo's Lad was beaten by 100metres at Hong Kong..Sunday night ?

Which is why I question the point of it all. If we are all talking about wanting to put NZ on the map in terms of our racing product what good could this do? Then again it is their right to go and do what they want, how they want, when they want. Go to HK to find out the unknown. But then head off to England??!! From what I can interpret from Pitmans audio with Coppins he has changed his mind twice about the UK trip even before the horse has reached the tie- ups!!!!

Enzo's Lad isn't a fair representation of NZ's best sprinters - which aren't even close to being world class, let alone Australian class.

Is anyone talking about Beauty Generation? The jockey never moved.... Runs like that should put Winx's form into perspective.

Even if it's 1000m with no turns it's still "right-handed" ie he prefers to lead with the other leg!! Methinks there's a lot of confusion and emotion in this decision - understandable, and I don't blame them for wanting to have a go at something special...but why Ascot? Timing?? Why the Northern Hemisphere? At least Singapore is left-handed; I guess they must have worked out all the pros and cons ...

I have just read the article in the Herald, and the fact that the costs are substantially mitigated by HKJC and Ascot is surely very helpful...more importantly, last year's King's Stand winner Blue Point (Godolphin) also ran last in the Chairman's at ShaTin.

But Blue Point returned home to race at Ascot, where he'd won over the straight course the previous season....a far different scenario than what faces Enzo's Lad. I'm not saying it can't or won't be done...but I wonder whether this extra trip is good for the horse. We know it's good for the connections.

Horse is weighted out of South Island racing and was probably lucky to win two Telegraphs.

According to M. Pitman  it's an all expense paid trip, which it would need to be!

Is he weighted out of rich rich races in Melbourne, Perth or Singapore next spring/summer?

Wouldn't think racing in a straight line on a right handed track would make a difference at all, no turns to negotiate

FYI

The cost of flying to UK IS BEING met by HKJC  who paid for horse owners, trainers and stable staff air fares and accommodation in HK

Ascot is giving us travel incentive greater than a Listed Stakes win at home

All owners get Royal enclosure tickets all 5 days of racing, on the days he races 18 th and 22nd they get their own catered corporate box

All connections get invited to the various garden, boot, barbecues associated with this massively popular week of historical racing where royalty from far and wide gather for one week of Group one racing that shapes world racing trends

Im going to enjoy this!!! So will the owners at v little cost if any, the races we are to contest are all run in straight line up an incline. He is not required to go around a corner as he has at Ellerslie or HK.

His record at Riccarton and Trentham gives us enough confidence to have a go, especially with Ascot inviting (paying) us to go there

We are currently in Qatar on way to UK both horse and trainer traveling well, out in paddock later today

Good for you, far to good an opportunity to turn down, getting a bit after stake money a bonus, good luck, it will give us something to look forward to in the early hours of a cold winter morning in NZ!

Best of luck to all the connections and for having a go. Not too many kiwis get the oppurtunity to  go and watch the ascot races let alone have a runner. It  would be the trip of a lifetime and really as Michael has said, not that much in the way of expenses as mostly covered,  so nothing to lose.

Sounds good. Trip of a lifetime.

Are you not worried about how they race up that straight though? What if they all go the far side (right hand rail) - would that cause him to favor the right leg? (honest question from a simple punter). Conversely would you be hoping they run up the near rail? Long way out to be devising tactics I know but just interested on your thoughts, etc.
