Yea Na....

...maybe if they have finally recognised these boys need a good rocket after something MAJOR happened..due to human incompetence and a failure to follow basic Barrier Protocols contributing to the DEATH of an unsuspecting animal

It's simply UNBELIEVABLE the amount of b/s I have to chase up when it comes to NZ RACING INTEGRITY

Ive got wayyy more positive things I could be doing and enjoying rather than negative vibes...but needs must

To ignore simple b/s is to confirm NZ Racing is run by a bunch of mates for their mates to do wtf they like with things like INTEGRITY...

get a load of this....

The official 'Stipendiary Report' into the gates moving stated

"The race was delayed after starter J Moody advised that the inside section of the starting stalls had moved due to the failure of the handbrake on the tow vehicle with this section of the gates becoming detached from the outside section. The outside four barriers were then repositioned before the start was effected."

So even the most stupid bogan from Bogansville imbibing Whakachungas 24/7... knows from that piece that the handbreak BROKE....aka a 'mechanical failure'....

Na na na na...you obviously read it all wong...

The fact was the person on the NORTHERN RACEDAY SERVICES team....the ignorant crew that do the entire North...to park the tractor safely in a motionless state...then insert it into gear as a backstop to a "handbreak failure"

CLEAN FORGOT TO APPLY THE BREAK...or put it into gear....

Now Williamson was the Chief Stipe this day...was he told a bunch of porkies or did he try to protect his Barrier mates by reporting 'mechanical failure' so he could have a drink with them après piss up?

If lies are told on minor stuff like this...although a moving sideways stall with a bunch of horses inside is hardly minor...

Then were all f'ed INTEGRITY wise

Schush RIU...don't tell anyone...but the secret to retaining INTRGRITY in the Industry...

..is TO TELL THE F IN TRUTH....24/7....and if somebody did tell porkies about the handbreak breaking...not braking...

Then either sack them or fine them...Of if the RIU b/s'd....resign now...ffs

And this is the Puke Barrier horror show....

Wtf is wrong with these boys?  Most first world Jurisdictions have their starters in line or in front...

HTF is a starter going to clearly hear a Jock saying she "wasn't ready" as heard by Stipe Robinson...standing in line with the stalls...where the Starter should be!

The Barrier incidents this year are totally unforgivable....

...rotten wayward Protocols with incredibly DISATROUS FATAL consequences...but that's about to come

With the RIU aiding and abetting the whole sorry lot...

But we already knew the RIU LIE!!

Mr Coles showed the film replays of the start of the race. He said that prior to the start being effected PATSYS LASS who drew barrier 1 reared up and it appeared that the Rider Ms Smyth had lost the use of her near-side stirrup iron. He said that the start was then made and shortly after leaving the barrier Ms Smyth was dislodged from her mount.

Ms Smyth confirmed that she did lose her iron when her mount reared and was still trying to retain same when the start was effected and as a consequence she was unbalanced and fell from her mount. She said that prior to the start being effected she had called out to the Starter that she was not ready.

The Starter Mr Harrison was asked by the Chair if he had had any observation of the incident in question. He responded by saying that Ms Smyth did call out and that he thought she had said that she was ready. He said that after seeing the films it was obvious that she was not.

Stipendiary Steward Mr Robinson was present at the start and standing very close to stall no. 1.

He said that he heard Ms Smyth say very clearly that she did not have her foot in the iron. He said that the start was then made and he observed that Ms Smyth did not have her left foot in the iron and that as her horse left its barrier stall Ms Smyth made contact with the side of the stall and fell from her mount.

It certainly sounds like the Stipes are mightily pissed off with these Starting Cowboys.....

Read between the lines..Ex Jockey Stipe Wazza Robinson

"very clearly"

Does this mean Gripper has developed hearing problems....or plain stubbornness problems?

He also has a history of letting a field go when a horse rears....then lands back on the ground...to catch them before they rear again

Bad idea, very bad...especially not properly checking on the rider's safety...

Its a crock to say he heard her...almost instantly releasing the field soon after the horse finishes rearing...

Get in line with the stalls Gripper...then you'll be able to hear ffs

  • 7 months later...

So what an absolute DISGRACE yesterday's DEBACLE was....

...yet entirely predictable as evidenced by last year's starter's anus horibilis

So start the New Year as you mean to go on starting boys...yee ahhh

Let's start with the obsequious Racing Media shall we...and Mick I'm employed by the ARC and TAB but I'm independent Guerin...

Writes this in the Herald...

"I just didn't see the horse (Pinmedown).

"I was distracted by another couple of horses who were raring up and at the same time the hood came off Pinmedown (making her harder to see) and she was right behind one of the clerk of the course horses and I didn't see her so thought she was in the gates. I then called a false start when I realised what had happened because I thought she deserved the chance to be in the race.

"I feel bloody terrible about it, I don't know what else to say."

Harrison, who is tremendously respected in the industry, stood himself down for the remaining two races and stewards have opened an inquiry into the incident."

TOTAL UTTER BULLSHIT

Either Guerin's deaf or Harrison's lying...

The red hood NEVER came off...

So to the 'false start' he called...did ANYONE hear a siren or flashing red light at the red light station box...some 100M from the start or did the Jockeys hear Innes complaining he was giving up and they just decided to amongst themselves?

Yep

So to the 'Starter's Manual'...actioned by the great Cammo George because he got totally pissed off with the amount of UNPROFESSIONALISM wrt Starters

Now this also happened last April when Assistant Starter Sargent and Starter Harrison ADMITTED they don't follow the 'Starter's Manual

"Mr Harrison confirmed that there was not a call from him and explained that he and Mr Sargent do not follow the Starting Manual. He said that they as the Starter say “Last one coming in” and once in the Race is started. He said that they have been doing it that way for 15 years. He said that it was a costly mistake."

And again yesterday...

If they'd followed the MANUAL this would NEVER have happened

The Manual...

6.18 Assistant Starter Prior to the Jump

The Assistant Starter shall signal to the Starter that the final runner has been loaded, all gates are closed and a start may be effected.

Sargent can be seen holding his hand out to PINMEDOWN whereby an attendant then rushes over readying to take the red ear hood off....

So when Sargent's standing by PINMEDOWN Starter Harrison then lets the field go...

WITHOUT RECIEVING clearance from the assistant as required by the Manual...

Why would Sargent signal to Harrison "all loaded" when's he's standing by the unloaded runner?

EXACTLY...this appalling f up would NEVER have happened if the Manual had have been followed...

END OF

Now the blame

As soon as Harrison admitted they don't follow the Starters Manual the RIU should have stepped in...and NZTR's Integrity Committee mobilised to INSIST the Manual was followed....

But guess what?

Its the Clubs who employee the Starters...in the North...NORTHERN RACE DAY SERVICES...

A disgraceful outfit who're a law amongst themselves...because their Starters know best...and f the Manual

NZTR were warned the RIU needed to employ these cowboys...to straighten their long list of f ups out...but they IGNORED them

The very reason last April was REPEATED once again

UTTER INCOMPETENCE

Hard to crucify someone on a genuine mistake...but the 'system' provides a valid set of protocols for avoiding such mistakes.

Just more kangaroo court stuff from our completely inept management.

Recently,  a trainer was warned that a particular rider in his employ would be charged with 'incompetence' should he/she ride in a similar fashion again.

That is opening a huge can of worms,  the hapless rider would have plenty of mates,  I'm thinking....but who would be a good enough race reader to fairly and honestly make that call?   I'm struggling to think of one...recall Cameron George taking issue with CWJ for not being where he,  Cameron,  thought he should be....really ?  the horse in question in that instance never went as well again...

...and,  going back to another cracker,  the highly-regarded Noel McCutcheon informing one David Walsh that ' the pace of the race is irrelevant ' ....seriously,  where do these clowns come from?

The "tremendously respected" phrase is one that should be deleted and replaced with something like "well liked" because that is what it is.  As in most "sectors" and in particularly in the racing sector there are those who you "work" with, who you like, are your mates, have a drink with etc etc who you are favourably disposed towards (biased ie not impartial) who get the benefit of the doubt.  There is no place for it - especially where health and safety are concerned.

And good on Guerin for encouraging Harrison's mates to text him or give him a bell...

...nobody wishes him ill will and he'll be feeling like the World is on his shoulders....

Its TOTALLY down to the 'Suits' like Godber and Oatham who allowed these 'protocols' to be IGNORED....

Let's point out as well that the STARTERS MANUALfalls under the POLICY schedule...

Its not a 'Guideline' but a carefully constructed document that almost always avoids total f ups if followed....

NZTR/RIU need to take responsibility for this....own it ffs....

Dont just fob it off and tell us the Clubs employ Starters and it's their fault...

NZTR/RIU are the organisations who're RESPONSIBLE for the SAFETY of all Horse flesh and Human alike...

And for MAINTAINING the INTEGRITY of the Thoroughbred product....

NOT allowing the Industry to be mocked and pilloried...as happened on One Nitwit News

Too true....

...and when Harrison said "I thought the horse left behind deserved its chance"...

...he forgot about the others who became instantly disadvantaged with the consequence there were 3 scratchings...not to mention the upset they went through...

Maybe he was more matey to the Moroney's than the Latta's seeing as he lives in Mutts?

Ellerslie false start fiasco only eight months after similar bungle at Avondale

Barry Lichter

By Barry Lichter • 1 January 2020

The false start debacle at Ellerslie today was not an isolated incident - the exact same thing happened only eight months ago when the judicial committee noted with concern that the starters’ manual was not being followed.

Starter Trevor Harrison, who let the City Of Auckland Cup field go at Ellerslie today when Pinmedown was still out the back of the gates, was involved in another bungle at Avondale on April 29.

Harrison was only the assistant starter that day when starter Brendan Sargent dispatched the field when one horse, Wilijonmcbride, had not been loaded.

After the siren was sounded all horses were pulled up but four did not take part in the re-run. Two trainers scratched their horses and another two were ordered out on veterinary advice, leaving a field of five.

Starter Trevor Harrison who has admitted his error.Starter Trevor Harrison who has admitted his error. In fining Sargent $1000, chairman Noel McCutcheon said the judicial committee was concerned that Sargent and Harrison were not following section 6.18 of the starters’ manual, which would have avoided the mistake.

The clause stipulated that the assistant starter must signal the starter that the final runner had been loaded and all gates were closed so the start could be effected.

Steward John Oatham showed the film and said the all clear signal had not been made by Harrison.

Sargent said he was confused and thought Wilijonmcbride was the clerk of the course’s horse as it was grey and had red colours.

During the inquiry Harrison said he and Sargent were not in the habit of following the starting manual and instead called out “last one coming up.” When the horse was in, the race was started. They had been doing it that way for 15 years, he said.

During submissions on penalty, stipendiary steward Matthew Williamson said the mistake was a costly one for the industry, the club and the connections of the four horses scratched.

An inquiry into today’s incident at Ellerslie was adjourned, with Harrison stood down for the remaining two races.

Harrison has taken the blame for the error and said he simply didn’t see Pinmedown who was behind a clerk of the course’s horse. He said he had also been distracted by two horses rearing up in the stalls.

So where does this appear Tommy?

Yes he works for Lincoln Farms as their Media man I believe...similar to Dave McCarthy with Stars....

....but he has editorial freedom...and the heirachy of both codes hate 'investigative' stuff....

....which is now non existant except for De Lore....

Just watch Guerin's obsequious nonsense on Weigh In to discover that....

...where this weeks 'show' reached new lows of racing jingoism sans FACTS

Oh yes those!

The problem with the likes of social butterflies like Guerin....

...they want to be 'liked' so they're 'mates' with EVERYONE....

Just as the wee falla at the viaduct ...and Chris Wood...who said "let's move on"

And he wonders why PUNTERS have buggered off...

....now you can't blame co host Emily here...everyone does like her and she's so lovely...there will be no rocking of the boat...

And of course Guerin's contracted to Ellerslie....so he's definitely not going to be criticising their employees...the Starters

Its just more 'back patting ass slapping' Racing Industry participant self congratulating syndrome

Its a known Virus

There will be no rocking of the boat from her - for exactly the same reasons. Funny how you think that's OK.

The other problem when the RIU decided to get all the starters up to HQ for a "let's get them all on the same page"

...was the Northern Starters final word...

"last one coming up"

...then silence....Sometimes real long...and a pointless "watch ya gates" as he presses the button

If only they'd get back to old Jack Mudford's process...

just before he presses the button

"ok, I'm ready when you're ready"

Which gives any problems...like PINMEDOWN being left out...a chance for Scooter Sargent to have said

"wtf...I'm holding onto one left to go in you #^*#****"

Which would have alerted to Harrison...Theres one left out

Or just follow the Starters Manual...Scooter giving the all clear....after he's taken off the red hood...

...which was still on...although Harrison said it wasnt

yea
