Happy Sunrise
Mile racing in the ole US of A is..... different. To some here, that mile racing is dreary but I imagine the Yanks would say 2 mile racing would never seem to end!

We don't seem to have much 2mile racing anymore, I remember all the small clubs cups in the 80s were 3200m but can't think of many now. for me personally mile racing was a nice novelty once in a while, pan am mile, miracle mile etc, but I would give up betting on or watching harness racing if nz went down the Menangle or u.s road. You must stop quoting your "opinion "as Gospel Brods. And correct there are some in our circles that appreciate good racing over the mile. Get used to it. Forums I thought were to express personal opinions. If Mile Racing was good for racing in NZ they would be run at all the tracks in NZ all the time. The fact is that most punters that offload hate them!

We have an ingrained racing format here which has been around for the last 100 yrs. It would take a monumental paradigm shift to change that. However, mile racing does have its place. And I respect your opinion if not agreeing with it at the same time.

The pools dont seem to alter much? By this logic, we should scrap all the maiden races and only run group ones as group ones have more people punting on them than maidens
Guest CrossCodes
I'm a fairly large punter and I like the mile racing, it's consistent, they generally run them at a fairly fast pace and most horses get their chance. Brodie, Addington don't run mile races because of the starting point on the track which has been discussed before, I'm sure they would be well supported otherwise, not sure where your facts come that 'punters offload hate them'. Would I like to see all racing over a mile, no, but it certainly has it's place especially on a specifically designed track like Menangle and the American tracks. Happy Sunrise
And if I might add, it was a dreary affair to watch. I would give up if I had to watch that all the time.

Not sure why they continue to race over that distance?

Westview
Could be wrong but I'm sure in the build up They said Laz worked 1.51 during the week it would be interesting to know if the Master Mark had done anything like that race week. Guest CrossCodes
He was basically racing against a field of claimers. I think I read somewhere he was also racing on lasix today? I am of the opinion that mile racing isn't really his go, his worst races over here were at Menangle and has never really gone well at the mile trip. If he couldn't win that race today he won't be winning anything of note.
