Kopia
So I looked at the stipes report just now from yesterdays Group 1. Supera, after a brilliant win last time out, was a pretty hot favourite. Apart from ' was hampered at the start' what do we get from the hot shot chief stipendiary steward Oathum...? Nothing. Hot favourite gets beaten in a G1 and not a word from the rider, trainer etc. Over here in Sydney there would be a full investigation, even a vet check if that took place in a G1. So whats up mr Oathum, still got yer head in a sling over the mess you made of that protest at Auckland last week when you didn't even question the rider of the affected horse..? Fred
It is generally known as 'second up syndrome'. Was ridiculously short odds.
Kopia
It wasn't her 'second up' start Fred it was her 3rd. But thats not the point, she was a failure in a Group 1 when hot favourite and we get nothing from the so called integrity unit. Useless. Fred
My blue -she ran as if she had been flattened by a hard run.
Murray Fish
to my eye she didn't present well... ran to those looks...
Freda
But - why no questions asked .? I've had some very average horses vetted at stipe's request when supposedly performing below expectations., certainly not Grp horses, so....? All The Aces
She was very unsettled in the birdcage and going out onto the track, if fact put on a bit of a performance which would not have helped in anyway. Those antics would have put a lot of those off who witnessed it.
holy ravioli
Mr Oatham must have deemed it unnecessary-'Bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Supera has now won seven of her 15 starts. She is out of Van Nistelrooy mare Sopra Tutto ?
Blackson123
If you had been on course you have seen Supera was very worked up before hand from the moment she left the tie up stalls. Ran race before it even began. As Kelso has said in the past, her temperament can let her down, which has been well noted if you have followed the horse through her career. Freda
The mare's demeanour, etc, is all relevant for sure, but that isn't the point of the headpost. Why no questions asked of the beaten hot favourite ?
Joe Bloggs
The mare's demeanour, etc, is all relevant for sure, but that isn't the point of the headpost. Why no questions asked of the beaten hot favourite ? Coz it's NZ......you know, the place where pre race testing is practically non-existent. Nash79
Don’t think the stipes needed to even ask questions of the trainer or jockey, was fairly obvious to them and everyone else there, she ran poorly due to her bad behaviour prior to the race, seeing as it took her a good 5 minutes to get down to the start after looking like she was going to flip over backwards, running backwards and refusing to go forwards toward the start. Kudos to The King for even managing to stay aboard during her pre race antics. Her behaviour was that bad it looked to be setting the clerks horse off as well, who spent a bit of time rearing and bucking out on the track, whilst she was throwing a tantrum. When she finally got on her way she looked to be in a muck lather and as if she had already run her race, just as Blackson says above. Obviously couldn’t cope with the crowd or the windy conditions. All The Aces
From what I saw down there from the stand she got fired up coming past the marquees leading to the birdcage. With the very strong wind the marquess were making quite a bit of noise with the flapping. She continued her antics in the birdcage and going out onto the track she had run her race by then. Mind you the winner was very good.

It was a dead set Betty Crocker alright koppa.... How could a HOT fav in a G 1 race escape ANY form of inquiry?? Oatham's obviously had a Betty Crocker of a month himself....something's playing his mind and it's got ABSENT all over it AWOL...He desperately needs some Xmas leave then...but that's our busiest time... Earily has been criticising Oatham's constant travel...from one end to the other wtf is that about? Not only is it tiring...but it's EXPENSE the Thoroughbred Industry doesn't need... Planty of experience to rely on throughout the country without the constant travel... Who's the Stipe who has family in CHCH now and needs the constant air travel to visit? Not Oats is it? Kenny said Gobder?

You CANNOT BE SERIOUS...in the words of Mak... The whole basis of any Stipendiary report is to report ANY occurrences and that includes HOT favs running below par... Its not for Punters to keep track of every pre race misbehaving and to suggest it is is simply bizarre... It NEEDS to be recorded...end of

Thomass
Not sure what this means Sandboy... ..but did you not think SUPERA's rank failure deserved a mention in Oatham's pathetic report? Or don't you think either?
