We don't all have a crystal ball regarding what would have happened without lockdown. So prefer to use information from similar types of countries, and their approach - to see the impact. Sweden - quite remote from a European perspective, similar in population and distribution of cities to NZ. Seemed an OK choice. Must be because of your crystal ball that you're always on the money. But in regards this, your crystal ball is broken.

Brodie
To the sheep that follow Ardern! What is your opinion to the fact that your esteemed leader has put a gagging order on all of her ministers? That is right, she has told all of her ministers not to comment to anyone about Civd19!!!! I used to think that we were a democratic country but clearly we are not under this current government!!! Clearly Ardern has a lot of confidence in her fellow ministers, or is it just that she wants total control over everyone and that is what you get with a Socialist government! Some of you may want to to live under a dictatorship, but I don’t and I won’t!! She is very dangerous and has to go

It's got nothing to do with lockdown - just ignorance and anti-labour. We'll miss you. Bye. If you get fed up with all this, set up a Zoom meeting with JJ and share your lockdown war stories. Of course I am not a fan of Labour, as they have not done a single decent thing for the benefit of the country since they have been in power since they had to have 3 loser parties amalgamate to lead!!! If I thought they were doing a good job I would be happy for the country. Mardigras, it is not a democracy at the moment if you have got the prime minister dictating to her ministers and the country. There is something wrong people if they think that what Ardern is currently doing is fine! Dont really think too many would want to be like China, but if we allow this to happen it will be problematic for everyone. If she has no confidence in her ministers to speak then they should be demoted!!

But seriously, for someone to come on here and say that the lockdown is not goi g to cause anyone any financial hardship is just incomprehensible! We are already seeing people being made redundant in big no.s and there will be heaps more over the next few months, and then he is OK with the prime minister running a dictatorship? I have similar concerns and it is a bit glib to say "Well it's still a democracy and you can change things at the next election." Adern and Robertson took it upon themselves to run the country by executive order. But they even cut down the normal executive team by excluding cabinet from the decision making. The last person to do that was one Robert David Muldoon. The ghostly echoes of cabinet ministers finding out about executive orders via the media resonated through the empty halls of parliament these last few weeks. Checks and balances were put in place to stop the executive power he wielded with impunity. Adern had no right to suspend parliament our primary democratic institution. Our elected representatives should have been in Parliament all through this. FFS the UK Parliament continued to sit and debate during the Battle of Britain in WW2. Aderns inexperience is clearly evident. What's more she has screwed forever the weapon of last resort against this virus that being complete lockdown. We've got no chance of forcing people back to Level 4. Further it seems we have wasted what we were told was the key reason to have the lockdown and that was to prepare our health systems for the inevitable wave of Covid-19 infection.

The Govt are damned whatever they do.You only need to look at that ranting ,smug fool Hosking contradicting himself every other day to see that. Most countries around the world are in lockdown. Lives or the economy? The economy was doomed regardless of C19...12 years of a ramping ponzi scheme built on expanding the money supply was heading for a fall. The greedy right worship the 'economy'...God knows how NZ would fare with the opposition running the show. National showed in 9 years that they had nothing except borrow and hope the immigration and ramped up property market never burned out. 2

Chief Stipe
Shyte I just read on the news what Brodie is referring to with regard to Aderns directives to her Ministers. Her actions reek of arrogance and inexperience. What's worse it is complete disrespect for the institutions, norms and rules of our democracy. I say that from a non partisan perspective and I'm sure there are pissed off people in Labour.
