what do you think

On hrnz website they have been having question and answer for high profile participants. Thought why can't we do same from a punters perspective? so here's some questions with my answers. What yours.

1.Best collect: The first horse I owned that won. Trainer said it only had to pace round first bend to win. It did,was still last of 14 at the 400m but in front at the150m and won easy.

2)Unluckiest or hardest defeat on punt to swallow. Should have got one of those early $50,000 guaranteed pick 6's. Had the only ticket on a horse called coloured fella running in the last leg. It was worth about two and a half years wages. Got stuck 3 wide early, driver R Mitchell tried for 200m to push horse inside it onto fence. But broke his own horse up,settled 10 lengths last in field of 13.,weaved its way all over the place in straight only to be just beaten by a neck Certainty beaten.. Driver got suspended and horse went on to win 3 of next 4.

3)If you could have any driver in history driving for you in the most important race of your punting life-Blair orange

4)Most exciting horse ever seen in flesh: Scoth tar.

5)best trainer seen- j. keast

6)favourite track -addington

7)best horse seen on tv-bonecrusher

8)what are you most looking forward to when harness racing resumes- seeing my bank balance go up.

I take it you are taking the piss with J Keast??

No.  The 2 purdon brothers obviously good but had keast had the same horses, facilities and backing as the purdons he would have achieved similar results.  Who do you think was the best?

Can't believe you haven't seen Winx

Winx, black caviar obviously great but some of the races Bonecrusher  won were spine tingling and won as much on guts as well as  great ability.

I tend to push them down deep into my subconscious but I remember a few years ago backing a trotter down south and it was paying heaps for the place and ending a multi for me. It was miles clear in second but the leader broke in front of me and brought me to a standstill while the other slow coaches ran past me. I can't remember its name but it was a horror scene etched in my memory

Grass or All Weather? I would rather have a good draw over a good driver (is that controversial?) but Natalie Rasmussen. In 10 years time, we will all be saying Robbie Close

Won't say the obvious. Some trainers just have good competitive racehorse like Des Baynes

6)favourite track

The Mot, because it has the most exciting races and it gets a bad rap being called the triangle just because it doesn't suit the favourite punters or trackside presenters with their $1000, 5 horses in each each leg of the quaddie, that they still can't get

Phar Lap (the movie ?)

Right oh, here we go.

Best Collect.
I got $2 of a treble up at Addington  in the late 80s. Think i got about $10k from memory, ididnt work for 2 weeks, thought icould punt full time! Mmmm, didnt work to well.
First leg winner was Miss Mischief, paid over $20, Brosnan drove 2nd leg, not sure name, and Ants drove Curling in last, led all way and fell in.

Unlucky!

Christ, so many. But when I was younger, one did piss me off for months. Greymouth harness meet, popped into local TAB, mate told me Terranium would bolt in. No idea what it was paying, put $5ew on it, and took $2 Trb, Besta Kara with Terranium with about 9 or 10 in last! Well, you guessed, one i didnt have won, trb paid about $10, pissed me off for months, thought about it each morning for ages. Why didnt i spend the extra $4 for field, I didnt have a bet for 3 weeks,  just looked at my $5ew ticket that got me back around $125. Many times since same thing happened, used to it now?

Driver-Ants

Exciting-Steel Jaw, just remember the crowd buzzing a lap from home under a hold.

Trainer-Richard Brosnan, gee i loved following his horses in the 80s, bloody consistent.

Track- Mot & Add

Tv- Lyell Creek

Look forward to grass racing
